42 Nadi Centres Operating In Penang Now
BUKIT MERTAJAM, June 30 (Bernama) -- Four new National Information Dissemination Centre (NADIs) have started operating in the Pematang Pauh Parliamentary Constituency, bringing the total number of NADIs in Penang to 42. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said two of the NADIs are located in Penanti and one each in Seberang Jaya and Pematang Pasir. "Three of these NADIs have started operating since May 2024 while the NADI in Kubang Semang was opened in December 2024. This is part of the implementation of the one state constituency one NADI policy as directed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," he said in a press conference after visiting the Kubang Semang NADI here today. Also present were Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Information Department (JaPen) director-general Julina Johan. Fahmi said that previously there were only three NADIs throughout Penang and he believed that the initiative could provide great benefits to local residents, especially through programmes such as eKELAS by Maxis and entrepreneurship training. He said through this entrepreneurial programme, local products can be identified and brought to a wider market including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, as well as through online sales platforms. Earlier, Fahmi joined the monitoring test of telecommunications coverage quality using the MCMC Nexus application by taking a bus from PICCA@Arena Butterworth Convention Centre to NADI Kubang Semang here. Commenting on the level of internet access, he said the average speed on the route was satisfactory and currently reached around 90 to over 100 Mbps for downloads, while uploads were between 20 to 30 Mbps. However, he said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had been instructed to use data from Nexus application to identify areas that still have constraints in terms of access or coverage.

TAWAU: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) introduced a drone medicine delivery initiative that will be implemented by it with the Ministry of Health Malaysia as the main partner. MCMC in a media statement said that the project was also held in collaboration with strategic partners such as MRANTI and local drone technology providers. 'This initiative is a pilot project to prove the effectiveness of the method of delivering medicines in rural and remote areas from Health Clinics to selected NADIs to speed up access to medicines to communities in hard-to-reach areas. 'This includes island areas, remote areas and locations that do not have good road conditions,' he said. According to him, the implementation of the first phase of delivering medicines using drones is expected to be implemented in the fourth quarter of 2025 in two NADIs including the NADI in Tawau as announced by the Prime Minister during his visit to the NADI booth. Next, the pilot project will be expanded to 150 NADIs in 2026 and completed to a total of 392 NADIs by 2027. In total, there are 1,099 NADIs nationwide. Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited the main attractions at the MCMC booth after officiating the Closing Ceremony of the Sabah State Madani Rakyat (PMR) 2025 Program at the Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) Square on Sunday. MCMC through the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) participated in the PMR by promoting NADI's Smart Services and high-impact strategic projects to the community, especially in interior areas. The NADI booth at the Tawau PMR also featured various NADI's Smart Services activities through five main thrusts, namely Entrepreneurship, Health, Lifelong Learning, IT Awareness and Government Services. Meanwhile, the statement also stated that through collaboration between various agencies, this project also supports the agenda of expanding existing government initiatives with a focus on access to higher quality and equitable future health services to rural communities through technology.
