Kevon Looney sends nostalgic tribute to Oracle Arena in Warriors goodbye
The post Kevon Looney sends nostalgic tribute to Oracle Arena in Warriors goodbye appeared first on ClutchPoints. Amid the farewell letter from former Golden State Warriors center Kevon Looney, the 10-year veteran shared the most memorable moment of his tenure and sent a special tribute to the games played at Oracle Arena. Before moving to the Chase Center in San Francisco, the Warriors' former arena, Oracle Arena, was home to four of Golden State's previous five championships (1975, 2015, 2017, 2018). Advertisement Looney says it was a place where he grew from a 19-year-old rookie to an NBA champion, per The Players' Tribune. 'How do you say goodbye to a place that practically raised you in a lot of ways? A place that saw you go from a boy to a man? A place where you've made so many lifelong friends and experienced some of the best times imaginable? I have so much to be grateful and appreciative for over the past 10 years,' Looney penned. 'This place, it's truly changed my life forever. 'In some ways, I feel like I've been in the Bay so long that lots of people kinda forget that back when I got drafted by the Warriors, I was barely out of high school. Still just a kid, 19 years old.' Looking back, Looney says he was the luckiest kid in the world. He was a teenager joining the Warriors dynasty while playing in an unforgettable environment. Advertisement 'And look, Joe, don't get me wrong. I love Chase Center. It's great. Beautiful. I loved playing there. First-class everything. Don't @ me. But Oracle? All those memories? Oakland? Those crowds? That NOISE? Oracle's undefeated with me, for sure. It's a shrine,' Looney adds. 'Definitely the best arena I ever played in as far as a crowd goes, an energy. Playing there … it sounds weird to say it, but it was almost like that place was actually alive. 'Like it had a heartbeat. A personality. Like it was a living, breathing thing.' Kevon Looney reflects with Warriors fans Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images After former Warriors center Kevon Looney signed a two-year deal with the Pelicans, he couldn't believe young NBA players would never get to experience the Warriors' old arena in his tribute to Oracle Arena. Advertisement 'It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. Beyond loud. And then everyone would hit that WAAAAAARRIOOOOOORS!!! chant and, I mean … I'd get goosebumps,' Looney said. 'At some points, it was so live that I honestly remember kinda wishing I could've been in the stands, like up in the nosebleeds screaming my head off with the rest of the die-hards up there.' Looney agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract with the Pelicans. WATCH: Giannis Antetokounmpo Slips And Falls During A Dunk Attempt In Brazil
WATCH: Giannis Antetokounmpo Slips And Falls During A Dunk Attempt In Brazil originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is known for his athleticism and powerful, highlight-reel dunks. However, the offseason hasn't been as kind to the star. In a recent video, the Bucks star was seen slipping and falling in a failed dunk attempt during his visit to Brazil. Antetokounmpo was in Brazil as part of an event. With several fans in attendance, the Bucks star was inevitably set to show out. Unfortunately, slippery conditions on the court did not play in his favor. Advertisement While the moment itself would have been considered quite embarrassing, the 2021 NBA champion took it in his stride and walked it off with a smile on his face, a positive indication considering the risk of running up an injury. Needless to say, the Milwaukee Bucks would hope to see their star in good health in the offseason. However, given the kind of interest the forward has garnered due to his decision to engage in trade talks, other teams will be equally invested in his health. Antetokounmpo's pending departure from Milwaukee is one of the biggest talking points of the offseason. Since his announcement, revealing his intentions to leave, several teams have come forward to present a bid for him. From powerhouses like the Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks in the East to Western Conference teams such as the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs, Antetokounmpo has shaken up the landscape of the NBA. Advertisement His unreal averages of 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game see him rated as among the best players in the league. At 30 years old, it is evident that the Greek forward could single-handedly transform any team he joins into a title contender. While the Bucks were rumored to attempt delaying the inevitable, hoping that their star would stay a season longer, the organization has made its decision to engage in negotiations known. Along with this, they also listed their demands, since trading their star would essentially send them into rebuild mode. As things stand, the Bucks are inclined to favor a deal centered around picks and young players to help them kickstart their rebuilding project. Considering their interest in a high draft pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs have garnered the most attention as a likely trading spot. The Spurs have some of the most powerful draft capital reserves in the league. With the No. 2 and the No. 14 picks in the 2025 draft, San Antonio could easily deal away one of these, along with some of their young players, to acquire Antetokounmpo. Advertisement Acquiring the Greek forward would effectively transform the team into a powerhouse. After finishing 13th in the West last season, the Spurs could be in for a massive shift in performance, even emerging as title contenders in the process. NBA Agents Are Convinced Giannis Antetokounmpo Will Force A Trade From The Bucks
As the 2025 NBA offseason approaches, the Milwaukee Bucks will be one of many teams angling to make some major changes. While the Bucks would prefer to keep their star, Giannis Antetokounmpo, for the long run, agents around the league believe that it's only a matter of time before he forces their hand with a trade demand. 'Several agents polled at the recent NBA combine in Chicago believe that the former NBA MVP will direct the Bucks to send him to his preferred location, whatever that might be," wrote Eric Pincus. "The closer he gets to the end of his contract, the greater his power to dissuade other suitors.' Advertisement Giannis, 30, was drafted 15th overall by the Bucks in 2013. Coming out of Greece, Giannis gained international attention for his size and skill, and he rose to stardom right away. By his fourth season, Giannis was already the leading face in Milwaukee, but it was just the start of a historic run for the Greek superstar. Today, as an 11-year veteran, Giannis has solidified his legacy as one of the best players in the game, and he's got the accolades to prove it as a 2x MVP, NBA champion, 9x All-Star, and 8x All-NBA player. For most of his career, Giannis was all about loyalty, and he made it clear that he had no desire to leave Milwaukee. Unfortunately, his loyalty is now being questioned after multiple failed seasons, and an injury to Damian Lillard has jeopardized the Bucks' future. At this stage of his career, Giannis wants to win, and he knows that he doesn't have the patience to deal with another rebuild. In their current situation, the Bucks only have limited options for improvement and, even then, it's unlikely to be enough to challenge the likes of the Celtics, Knicks, or Pacers in the East. Advertisement If he wants to win, the best route for Giannis would be to demand a trade from the Bucks and begin with a clean slate somewhere else. If he were to move teams, Giannis has very specific desires for his next destination, and his preferences have essentially limited the teams to the Knicks, Nets, and the Miami Heat. In a place like New York, Giannis could get everything he wants: a chance to compete in one of the biggest markets in the league. With the Knicks, Giannis could elevate the team to a whole new level of contention while growing his personal brand and business more than he's ever done before. If he chooses the Heat, Giannis will get a clean slate to play under Pat Riley and live out the 'Heat Culture' that he's grown to admire so much over the years. With young big man Bam Adebayo by his side, he might be able to lift Miami to the top of the standings and lead them to prosperity after the Jimmy Butler fiasco. Whatever the future holds in store for Giannis, he's the kind of player who can easily shift the NBA's balance of power. If he leaves the Bucks and ends up somewhere else (this summer or next), it will have massive implications on the NBA title picture and which teams will be leading the standings for the next few years to come.
