Nick Sirianni: Jalen Hurts criticism is BS, he does what's needed to win

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni doesn't want to hear the word repeat as the team prepares for the 2025 season and he doesn't want to hear another round of discussions about whether Jalen Hurts is an elite quarterback. That has been a popular topic of conversation around Philadelphia over the last few years and Sirianni believes it is 'bulls—t' to continue trying to make the argument that Hurts is along for the ride with a group of talented players who carried him to a Super Bowl title. Sirianni challenged people to point to any championship team that isn't stocked with quality players and noted that 'anybody who plays quarterback is going to want to throw it 50 times a game' before saying that Hurts's top priority is winning rather than his statistics. 'Anytime, I hear that, it's cool, it's like a nice debate thing that people like to have,' Sirianni said, via Reuben Frank of 'And I get it, there's a lot of hours that TV shows and radio stations have to fill to be able to fill that debate. I understand that, but we're talking about the ultimate team game there is and he does whatever he needs to do to win each and every game. . . . It's the most ultimate team game there is. And what I admire about him is his selflessness of doing anything we need to do to win.' Super Bowl titles have a way of inoculating quarterbacks from nitpicks about their game, so the scrutiny that Hurts faced before February's win in New Orleans may now be directed to others who haven't been able to reach the top of the NFL mountain. If it isn't, Sirianni has already let us know what he thinks of the discourse.

Lane Johnson feels he's "getting close" to his peak as a player

The offensive line has been a big part of the Eagles' success in recent years and they have four starters back from last season as they try to defend their Super Bowl title. Right tackle Lane Johnson is the most experienced member of that group and he's set to be the oldest starting tackle in the league at 35. Some players are slowing down at that age, but Johnson feels like he's moving in the other direction. Advertisement Johnson dealt with ankle injuries for several years and said last week that he feels better now than he did when he was 29 or 30. That's left him feeling like he still has new heights to reach as a player. "I feel like I'm getting close to maybe my peak," Johnson said, via Reuben Frank of "As weird as it is to say, but that's truly how I feel. Maybe they need to do a Combine for guys 10 years [in the league], see how we do compared to 10 years ago.' The Eagles would gladly sign up for more of the same from Johnson in 2025. If they get an even better player, the offense is going to be a difficult one to stop come the start of the regular season.

Dallas Goedert excited about being an Eagle in 2025, "not too worried" about the future

Tight end Dallas Goedert's return to the Eagles for the 2025 season remained up in the air until he agreed to a revised deal with the team earlier this month. Goedert agreed to a pay cut that guaranteed his $10 million salary and offers more money in incentives. On Wednesday, Goedert said 'there were definitely days that were filled with emotion' before the revised deal came together and that he's now trying to enjoy the moment rather than fret about what will happen when his deal is up at the end of the season. 'I'm really excited about this year,' Goedert said, via 'Obviously, I'd love to play my entire career in Philadelphia, but I'm not too worried about [the future]. I'm excited to see what happens this year. Excited to put up a really good year, have a successful year with an incredible team and let my agent handle his job and talks after the season. . . . I'm super stoked to be back here. Got a lot of love for a lot of people in this building. Got a lot of love for Philadelphia. So super glad to be back. And we've got high expectations and I want to help us get back to where we were last year.' Goedert missed time in the regular season last year due to injury, but returned to lead the team in receptions and receiving yards during their postseason run to a Super Bowl title. Goedert also performed well in the playoffs on the way to the NFC title in 2022 and another strong finish should help his chances of remaining in Philly for the long run.

A.J. Brown on heading to second Super Bowl: You know how to handle it now

A.J. Brown has been through this before — and that matters. While not all of the Eagles were around for the run to Super Bowl LVII to cap the 2022 season, Brown was. And now that this is his second time reaching the final game of the season, he knows what to expect. 'Last time, I honestly felt like a paid actor during the whole week, just everything, so many interviews,' Brown said after Sunday's victory in the NFC Championship Game, via Dave Zangaro of 'The only part that felt like real football was the game. And so when you remove all those things and you're just trying to focus on the game and that's the only thing that matters. And just trying to win. Everything else is for everybody else.' That's part of why even though Brown was happy and excited to be heading to New Orleans, he wasn't getting too far up about it. 'This is very different,' Brown said. 'My emotions are intact. Of course, I'm excited for guys who haven't been before. But I just want to win. I just want to win. Maybe I'll let my emotions go if we get to do that. 'We've been there before,' Brown added. 'I'm not saying that I'm used to it but you've been there before, you know what it's like and you know what's at stake. You know how to handle it now. That's the only thing I'm focused on. Doing things differently. Trying to do everything in my power to try to get us a win.' After catching just three passes for 24 yards in Philadelphia's first two postseason games, he had six receptions for 96 yards with a touchdown in the 55-23 victory over Washington on Sunday.
