Who is Vaughn Karvala? Xavier hosting 4-star, Class of 2026 forward on Wednesday

Xavier men's basketball is looking for its first commit from the Class of 2026 and one of its top targets will be on campus Wednesday, June 25. According to Sam Kayser, Vaughn Karvala will take an official visit to Xavier on Wednesday. Advertisement Karvala began his prep career at Oregon High School in Oregon, Wisconsin before announcing his decision to transfer to Bella Vista College Preparatory in Arizona earlier this month. Tabbed by 247Sports as a four-star recruit, Karvala heads to Scottsdale as a top 10 player in Arizona and a top 20 small forward in the nation in the Class of 2026. He is the No. 62 overall player in the ESPN100 Rankings. Karvala was offered by Xavier in May and recently competed in the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The 6-foot-6 prospect also holds offers from Arizona State, Iowa, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Marquette and Wisconsin. Xavier men's basketball offered Columbus Academy's Jason Singleton (5) earlier this summer. In early-June, Xavier also offered a pair of 2026 in-state recruits in Columbus Academy's Jason Singleton and Margaretta High School standout Julian Washington. Advertisement Washington is currently unranked by 247Sports and holds additional offers from Miami, Akron, Ohio University, Kent State, Indiana State and others. He was a first-team All-Ohio selection last season in Division V. Singleton, whose father helped lead Ohio State to the Final Four in 1999, is tabbed as the No. 5 player in Ohio for the Class of 2026. The 6-foot-4 combo guard was named third-team All-Ohio in Division V. He helped lead Columbus Academy to a 28-1 season that included the program's first trip to the state finals since 1981. Columbus Academy finished as the state runner-up. This article originally appeared on Cincinnati Enquirer: Who is Vaughn Karvala? Xavier hosting 4-star, Class of 2026 forward

Recent Iowa basketball visitor among NBPA Top 100 Camp Risers

The Iowa men's basketball team is entering the 2025 season with a new head coach for the first time since 2010 and hopes are high for the Hawks under Ben McCollum. While McCollum is bringing in a huge transfer class this year, he's only recruited two true freshmen to the class so far. But, McCollum is already getting to work on the 2026 class, sending offers to several highly talented players. And one of those players just saw his stock rise. The NBPA Top 100 Camp takes place every year and invites the top high school players from around the country to come and show coaches and scouts what they can do. It's a chance for stocks to rise and for offers to start flooding in to these players. And that's exactly what happened for one Iowa 2026 target. McCollum and the Hawkeyes recently had four-star small forward prospect Colin Rice in for a visit on June 4. The 6-foot-7, 180-pound small forward from Waukee Northwest High School in Iowa has five Power Four offers from Iowa, Northwestern, Nebraska, Colorado and Illinois. Rice participated in the NBPA Top 100 Camp last week and flourished, catching the attention of plenty of scouts including Jamie Shaw of On3, who included Rice among his five major stock risers from the event (subscription required). The positional size pops quickly when watching Colin Rice. Once the ball tips, you see the athletic fluidity and the comfort he has with the ball in his hands. Rice has solid length with legit size. He is comfortable on the ball, getting to spots off a dribble or two, and he has a smooth shooting stroke with range off the bounce or off the catch. Gaining strength with be the next steps for Rice, and with that might come better balance to find production in his advantages created in the half-court. The shooting stroke was true this week, and the upside is intriguing. His recruitment leveled up toward high majors in May when he saw Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Colorado each jump into the mix.- Jamie Shaw, On3 Since that Iowa visit on June 4, Rice has since visited Nebraska and has a visit with Northwestern scheduled for June 29. During his junior season at Waukee Northwest, Rice helped lead the Wolves to a 22-4 record and an appearance in the Class 4A state championship game, where they lost to Valley, 61-47. Rice averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game in 2024-25 and will look to take on a bigger role during his senior season. McCollum and the Hawks want to keep the one of the fastest-rising recruits in the 2026 class in state, but Iowa will have to deal with plenty of competition following Rice's performance at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. UNC basketball program offers four-star small forward

UNC basketball program offers four-star small forward A 2026 small forward has earned an offer from North Carolina Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have a new target on their 2026 basketball recruiting board. After showing interest in four-star small forward Qaydon Samuels, the Tar Heels have now officially entered the race for the talented prospect. On Sunday, North Carolina offered the four-star recruit out of Maryland. Samuels is the latest player to earn an offer from North Carolina and they have been interested in the recruit for a bit now. UNC's interest and Samuels' recent play at the NBPA Top 100 Camp was a perfect storm for an offer to come this weekend ahead of the Summer months. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound small forward plays at Bishop McNamara and is ranked No. 22 nationally, the No. 8 small forward, and the No. 1 player in the state of Maryland per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 21 offers in his recruitment so far with Alabama, Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, Texas, and Michigan as the programs who have offered so far in addition to North Carolina. UNC Class of 2026 basketball recruit amongst best performers at Top 100 camp

UNC Class of 2026 basketball recruit amongst best performers at Top 100 camp Will this highly-touted Class of 2026 recruit don Carolina Blue in college? Despite UNC's inconsistencies from season-to-season since Hubert Davis took over as head coach, there's one area Hubert is proving to be a baller in: recruiting. Hubert signed at least one 5-star player – out of high school in each of North Carolina's past three recruiting classes. The Tar Heels snagged Elliot Cadeau in 2023, Drake Powell and Ian Jackson last season, plus they have power forward Caleb Wilson coming to Chapel Hill this year. UNC doesn't yet have a commitment in its 2026 recruiting class, but there are several outstanding offers. Recent efforts by the North Carolina coaching staff, though, show that a top goal is getting that first 2026 commitment. Hubert is directly recruiting 5-star point guard Taylen Kinney, the top-ranked player in Georgia and Class of 2026's 16th-overall ranked prospect. At the current NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, S.C., which Tar Heel coaches are in attendance for, Kinney is being hailed as one of the top performers. "Day one saw Kinney dominate the competition," Trevor Andershock wrote. "The Kentucky native had his outside shot working in the two games, resulting in impressive production. With his size and athleticism, defenses have no chance to stop him when Kinney is hitting outside shots. That was the case on Wednesday. He has been traveling overseas for basketball events lately, but Kinney showed no ill effects of that jet lag on Wednesday." Keep in mind: Kinney is putting up these numbers against some of the top high school players in the country. Kinney is currently playing with Overtime Elite, which is an alternative to the pros, allowing high school players to prepare themselves for professional basketball. Can Hubert's strong recruiting efforts pay off yet again, this time in the form of landing Kinney? How the Tar Heels perform in their 2025-2026 season will go a long way towards shaping their 2026 class.
