Student can't correct NEET application post deadline, even if its typo, says Telangana HC

HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court on Friday asked students to be careful while filling up applications for competitive exams even as it dismissed a Hyderabad student's plea to let her make corrections in her NEET UG application. The student had made a typographical error in the form, opting for Uttar Pradesh instead of Telangana as her eligibility state and the National Testing Agency (NTA) had dismissed her request to make corrections. It also said that judicial decisions could not override technical and procedural constraints once the deadline to submit the form had passed. The court observed that the student failed to act diligently and could not expect special consideration now. The court noted in its order that the NTA's public notice clearly stated corrections would be allowed only until March 11, 2025, up to 11:50 PM, and no changes would be permitted thereafter. The NTA submitted before the court that their software did not support reopening or modifying entries once the deadline had passed, and that any such action would disrupt the process for lakhs of candidates. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 最強のヒーローチームを編成する力はありますか? レイドシャドウレジェンド 今すぐインストール Undo The student had submitted her first representation to make the correction only on May 27, more than two months after the deadline had passed, the court observed. The student, relying on a previous order of the high court in a similar case, had sought relief, but the judges clarified that the earlier decision did not lay down any binding precedent and merely directed the authorities to consider a representation.

Know about Maharashtra's First Medical College — Grant Medical College in Mumbai

The Grant Medical College (GMC) in Mumbai, having been established in 1845, is among the earliest institutions to introduce formal medical education in India. As one of the oldest medical colleges in South Asia, it laid the foundation for western medical practice in the region. At present, the college is affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) and continues to attract top NEET UG scorers aiming for government MBBS seats in the state. Over time, it developed into a premier institution known for clinical training and medical research, alongside the Sir J J Group of Hospitals, which together form a major healthcare and teaching hub in western India. These institutions are under the administrative control of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra. NEET UG 2025 Results: Master the counselling process with these tips The Sir J J Group of Hospitals—named after philanthropist Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy—have a combined bed strength of 2,844 beds, making them one of the largest public hospital setups in the country. Each year, they cater to over 1.2 million outpatients and more than 80,000 inpatients, with patients coming from across Maharashtra and even central India for specialised and tertiary care. Located in the Byculla area of South Mumbai, the GMC-JJ campus spreads over 44 acres, combining colonial-era architecture with modern facilities. According to its official website, the institute houses 45 clinical and surgical wards, 5 hostels, and 7 canteens, offering residential and support infrastructure for undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty, and healthcare workers. Its central location in Mumbai makes it easily accessible via local trains and road transport, which is especially vital for emergency and referral cases. Pioneering research and distinguished alumni The college has a long history of contribution to global medicine. It served as the workplace of Sir Waldemar Haffkine, who developed the world's first plague vaccine at the JJ hospital campus in the late 19th century. Nobel laureate Robert Koch also conducted research on cholera here. Among its prominent alumni are Dr Jivraj Mehta, the first Chief Minister of Gujarat and a prominent physician, and Dr V N Shirodkar, a noted gynecologist known for pioneering techniques in obstetrics. Admissions and reputation The Grant Medical College is reputed to be among the known government medical college in the state. The institution admits approximately 250 MBBS students annually through the NEET UG counselling conducted by the Maharashtra CET Cell. New healing headquarters AIIMS Jodhpur

The remarkable rise of AIIMS Jodhpur as a leading medical college is built upon a unique blend of classroom teaching, varied clinical experience, focus on research and close mentorship by faculty ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES JODHPUR No. 10 (2025) up from No. 25 (2020) On September 17, 2012, when AIIMS Jodhpur was established with 50 students, three commitments were made to ensure quality medical education. Dr Shilpi Gupta Dixit, present acting Dean (academics) and professor (anatomy), recalls them clearly. 'Patient care, research and public health were three unique aspects that AIIMS Jodhpur chose to focus upon,' she says. 'We had AIIMS Delhi as our model and mentor. It was our vision statement to be as good, or next as good as them,' she adds. That aim seems to have been realised. Indeed, for many, AIIMS Jodhpur is the second preference after AIIMS Delhi. 'I am sure I won't make it to AIIMS Delhi…. I have been targeting a seat at AIIMS Jodhpur throughout. It is as good and is part of a safer city,' says Payal Varma, 17, who sat for the NEET UG exams this year. In 2020, the faculty here contributed 409 research papers; this year, it has been 3,869. 'We are the first for research amongst the new AIIMS,' says Dr Goverdhan Dutt Puri, executive director, AIIMS Jodhpur. Infrastructure, too, has improved, with OTs at the hospital increasing from 16 to 32 in five years, beds from 728 to 960, ICUs from 19 to 134, junior residents from 328 to 476, senior residents from 145 to 398 in the same time period. Unsurprisingly, the college is the most improved in India Today-MDRA medical rankings. 'We have a close mentorship programme where a faculty member and a student are paired and there is always someone to guide and support them through the years,' says Dr Dixit. A self-directed and problem-based learning approach unique to AIIMS Jodhpur is applied in two ways—horizontal learning (characterised by a broad collection of knowledge, and focusing on connecting disciplines), and vertical learning (which deals with subjects with depth and applies scientific concepts to clinical practice from early on). With 1.3 to 1.4 million OPD patients every year, students say there is a wealth of opportunity to learn about patients and diseases. The institute connects to communities in Rajasthan through two unique endeavours. First is the two-year school of public health. Started in 2017, it aims to impart training through problem-solving exercises, observerships in public health organisations and case studies. Second, the institute is recognised as a 'Centre of Excellence for Tribal Health' by the Union ministry of tribal affairs and a unique centre was conceptualised to address the health needs of tribals. It is precisely this unique blend of classroom teaching, diverse clinical exposure, inter-disciplinary learnings as well as mentorship by faculty that makes AIIMS Jodhpur a desirable choice now for many an aspiring medical student.
