CANTON, Ohio (AP) — The Texas Fury Texans and Jaguars Elite won titles in the NFL Flag Championships on Sunday. The Texans beat the Bad Rabbits Cowboys 19-0 to win the High School Girls division. The Jaguars beat Showtime 13-0 to take the 14U Boys championship. Emery Beckett completed all eight of her pass attempts in the title game for the Texans, throwing two touchdown passes to Zahra Hill and one to Kelsey Quinn. Their coach, Keenan Hughes, was recently hired as the first coach for the women's flag football team at Concordia University in Austin, Texas. The Jaguars were led by tournament MVP Brysen Wright, whose one-handed catch earlier in the event drew an incredulous social media response from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 14-year-old Wright scored 10 touchdowns in seven games. 'It's a fast-paced, exciting and explosive game,' Jaguars coach David Price said. Jaguars Elite 14U flag football teams rolls to quarterfinals in NFL Flag Championships
Brysen Wright caught two touchdown passes and three one-point conversions on Friday to lead the Jaguars Elite 14U to the quarterfinals of the NFL Flag Championship at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Wright, a rising sophomore at Mandarin High School, scored 15 of his team's points in a 20-14 victory over Ryan Football, a team representing the Miami Dolphins. The Jaguars will play Old Skewl (Baltimore Ravens) on Saturday at 11 a.m., televised on NFL Network and streamed on ESPN+ and NFL+. If the Jags win, they will play the winner of a game between HFFL Empire (Raiders) and RFP (Bills) at Noon on Sunday. A victory there would send the Jaguars to the championship game at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Jaguars Elite outscored three opponents 89-24 in pool play on Thursday. Playing teams representing the Jaguars' AFC South opponents, the team beat Sumner Elite (Texans) 28-0, Lexington East (Colts) 26-6 and Prime (Texans) 35-18. Also still alive for their age groups championships are the Jaguars 10U Elite Girls, NxtGen 10U and the Marion County Juice 8U, who are all 3-0 in their games so far. Nine First Coast teams representing the Jaguars are a combined 23-6 in the NFL Flag Championships through Friday's games.
