Jalen Hurts is a Super Bowl Champion, a Super Bowl MVP, and a two-time Pro Bowler who has helped turn the Philadelphia Eagles into consistent contenders. Yet in ESPN's recently released NFL QB Rankings for 2025, Hurts was surprisingly ranked No.
9—a move that drew sharp criticism from fans and NFL analysts alike.
Emmanuel Acho slams Jalen Hurts' No. 9 ranking in 2025 NFL QB list
ESPN's annual list, compiled from votes by NFL executives, coaches, and scouts, ranks the top quarterbacks heading into the 2025 season. While the top three—Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen—earned widespread approval, Jalen Hurts' fall to No. 9 shocked many. Emmanuel Acho, a former NFL linebacker turned analyst, publicly slammed the ranking, calling it 'completely asinine.'
Acho acknowledged that Mahomes, Jackson, and Allen deserved their top-tier spots but couldn't understand how Hurts landed behind names like Jayden Daniels, Justin Herbert, Jared Goff, and Joe Burrow. 'It's very simple—Jalen wins and wins at a high clip,' Acho said on FS1's Speak. His point wasn't just about stats, but about Hurts' leadership, playoff consistency, and ability to carry the Eagles through pressure-packed moments.
Hurts led the Eagles to a 14-3 record in 2022, earning a Super Bowl appearance and nearly winning the game himself with a dominant performance. Over the past two seasons, he's racked up over 8,000 total yards and more than 50 touchdowns, including rushing scores, making him one of the most productive dual-threat QBs in the league.
Despite his resume, Hurts continues to face questions about his consistency and passing efficiency.
However, many believe those criticisms are unfair and overlook his impact on the field. His ability to lead game-winning drives, dominate in the red zone, and control the tempo of high-stakes matchups has made him a nightmare for opposing defenses.

As the 2025 NFL season approaches, Hurts will once again have the opportunity to silence doubters. If history is any indicator, he'll use this 'snub' as motivation. Rankings may come and go, but winning and doing it consistently has always been the true measure of a franchise quarterback.
