Jamshedpur: Tejpal Bhatia, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Axiom Space, located in Houston, Texas and which recently sent Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to space, talked to students and answered their questions about space on the occasion of World Conservation Day (WCD) on Monday Taking part in the inspiring 'Space Talk', the students of Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) listened to Bhatia with rapt attention over how astronauts practised sustainability in space, like recycling water, reducing waste and innovating for limited resources. These practices can help and guide people in protecting the earth's environment. The event was aimed at inspiring students to understand the deep connection between space exploration and the conservation of our planet.

Jamshedpur: It was a momentous occasion for the students and teachers of the Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) here on Wednesday as they witnessed the launch of Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) live. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The 'Watch Party' hosted by the school on its campus marked a thrilling moment for all who watched Indian Air Force Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla travel to space as the mission pilot. Students waved the Indian flag, cheering for Shukla as the Ax-4 launched successfully from the Kennedy Space Center, carrying the astronauts from four countries — India, the US, Hungary and Poland — to the International Space Station (ISS). The excitement was palpable at the school right from the moment of the broadcast at 10 am. Members of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), school management committee members, students and teachers were all beaming with pride as the spacecraft launched. According to the enthused students and teachers, Axiom Space, known for its pioneering missions in private space travel and starting the process of building the world's first commercial space station, has become a beacon for students dreaming of a future in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. The school managing committee president, Nakul Kamani, said it was a proud moment for the school that it was selected to organise the 'Watch Party'. School principal Paramita Roy said, "The live screening of the Axiom 4 launch was organised to promote educational engagement in space science among young learners. For the school, the event came on the backdrop of the school's increasing engagement in space education." In November 2023, the school had hosted a 'Space Talks' session in collaboration with NASA which featured Jaydeep Mukherjee, the director of the NASA Florida Space Grant Consortium.

JSR school to host ‘watch party' for Axiom Mission launch

Jamshedpur: The city-based Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) is all set to witness a historic moment in space exploration on June 11 as it will host a 'watch party' for the live launch of Axiom Mission 4 (AX-4), a private spaceflight to the International Space Station (ISS), operated by Axiom Space in collaboration with Space X and NASA. The mission is scheduled to lift off from the Kennedy Space Center at 5:30 pm IST with the live broadcast beginning at 3:25 pm. "This is a moment of great pride not only for our school but for the Jamshedpur city. This is a step towards motivating the young minds so that they feel inspired to innovate," said NHES principal Paramita Roy Chaudhury. The mission holds special significance for the country as Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force will serve as the mission pilot. Notably, Shukla will be the second Indian to travel to space and the first ever to visit the ISS. Further, the mission holds excitement for the NHES management, faculty and students as it is the only school in the country chosen to organise the official watch party for this historic event, the school officials claimed. For the school, the event has come on the heels of the aschool's increasing engagement in space education.
