Former Washington Capitals star Nicklas Backstrom leaves the NHL behind and joins Brynäs IF after hip rehab

Nicklas Backstrom, one of the most iconic playmakers in National Hockey League (
NHL
) history, has officially signed with Brynäs IF in Sweden's top-tier league. The 37-year-old center spent his entire NHL career with the Washington Capitals.
Here he became the team's all-time assists leader and won the 2018 Stanley Cup, drafted fourth overall in the 2006 NHL Draft.
Backstrom built a legacy of loyalty, skill, and vision over 18 NHL seasons.
