NIM looks to maiden gallium resource
Don't miss out on the headlines from Stockhead. Followed categories will be added to My News. NIM receives more high-grade gallium assays from final holes at Block 3 in WA Maiden resource, updated exploration target and metallurgical work planned Company will also assess the project's rare earths and base metals potential Special Report: Nimy Resources has hit further high-grade gallium in the final drill holes of a 5944m campaign at Block 3 in WA, which is emerging as a potential standalone gallium development. The drilling was aimed at infilling and extending an exploration target of 9.6-14.3Mt at 39ppm to 78ppm gallium and positions the company to potentially become WA's first primary producer of the critical mineral. Gallium, a specialty metal essential for computer chip production and widely used in electronics, AI and defence, has seen rising global interest following China's 2023 export controls. Nimy Resources (ASX:NIM) plans to release a maiden resource for the project in the coming quarter, after repeatedly hitting high grades. The last round of drilling results was no exception, returning intercepts including: 44m @ 101g/t Ga₂O₃ from surface 32m @ 107g/t Ga₂O₃ from surface 28m @ 102g/t Ga₂O₃ from surface 12m at 104g/t Ga₂O₃ from 16m; Maiden resource, metallurgical work and more drilling Overall, the drilling campaign intersected high-grade intervals of plus 100g/t Ga2O3 with all holes encountering mineralisation and 18 holes returning high-grade gallium. 'The recently-completed drilling program at Block 3 has consistently returned high-grade gallium assays which show we have a substantial discovery,' managing director Luke Hampson said. 'And furthermore, there is clear potential to keep growing it, with the mineralisation remaining open at depth and along strike. 'With the receipt of the final assays, we are on track to complete the maiden JORC resource in the September quarter. 'At the same time, we are progressing metallurgical testwork in conjunction with the CSIRO and Curtin University while discussions are also advancing with potential offtake customers and funding partners. 'The high level of inquiry we are receiving from around the world confirms that we have a huge opportunity at Block 3 to capitalise on demand for this critical metal.' The next steps beyond a maiden resource include metallurgical testwork and offtake discussions - plus a follow-up drill program to expand the resource and explore the rare earths and base metals potential of the project. German consumer sentiment worsens in July as economic optimism fades
Consumer sentiment in Germany declined for the second consecutive month in July, with GfK's Consumer Climate indicator forecasting a drop of 1.2 points to –21.5 for August 2025, down from –20.3 the previous month. While income expectations rose for the fifth month in a row—reaching a 12-month high at 15.2 points—the overall mood was weighed down by falling economic expectations and weak buying appetite. The savings indicator climbed for the third straight month, up 2.5 points to 16.4, the highest level since February 2024. Analysts cite persistent uncertainty, elevated food prices, and consumer caution around major purchases as key drag factors. 'The recovery in consumer sentiment continues to be postponed,' Rolf Bürkl, head of consumer climate at the Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions (NIM) said in a press release. 'A sustainable rebound hinges on reducing uncertainty and offering planning stability.' Germany's consumer sentiment worsened in July, with GfK's Consumer Climate forecast dropping to â€'21.5 for Aug. While income expectations rose for the 5th month to a 12-month high, economic expectations fell sharply and willingness to buy declined. Savings sentiment reached a 17-month high, reflecting persistent uncertainty. Despite stable inflation and wage growth, consumers remain hesitant to spend. Despite stronger wage agreements and easing inflation—now at 2 per cent, in line with the ECB's target—consumers' willingness to buy dropped by 3 points to –9.2, reflecting a disconnect between better income prospects and actual consumption. Economic expectations saw a steep decline, tumbling 10 points to 10.1 after five months of gains. Continued fears around US tariff policy and global uncertainty are seen as major deterrents to renewed optimism. Since October 2023, the GfK Consumer Climate has been jointly reported by NIQ/GfK and NIM, tracking key consumer behaviour metrics across the German economy. Fibre2Fashion News Desk (KD)

German consumer sentiment falls in August as households opt to save, finds GfK
BERLIN, July 24 (Reuters) - German consumer sentiment is set to decline heading into August, marking the second consecutive drop as households increasingly hold back on spending amid persistent economic uncertainty, a survey showed on Thursday The consumer sentiment index, published by the GfK market research institute and the Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions (NIM), unexpectedly fell to -21.5 points from -20.3 points the month before. Analysts polled by Reuters forecast a slight rise, to -19.2. "The recovery in consumer sentiment continues to be postponed, because the willingness to save has risen again," reaching its highest value in nearly one and a half years, said NIM consumer analyst Rolf Buerkl. "General uncertainty, the need to be prepared for difficult situations and high prices, especially for food, are the main reasons," he added. Economic expectations took a tumble after five consecutive increases, dropping 10 points to 10.1 points, further dampening hopes for a meaningful recovery in Europe's largest economy this year. Income expectations, however, continued their recovery for the fifth straight month, rising 2.4 points to 15.2 points, which marks a 12-month high for the indicator. NOTE - The survey period was July 3-14, 2025. An indicator reading above zero signals year-on-year growth in private consumption. A value below zero indicates a drop compared with the same period a year earlier. According to GfK, a one-point change in the indicator corresponds to a year-on-year change of 0.1% in private consumption. The "willingness to buy" indicator represents the balance between positive and negative responses to the question: "Do you think now is a good time to buy major items?" The income expectations sub-index reflects expectations about the development of household finances in the coming 12 months. The additional business cycle expectations index reflects respondents' assessment of the general economic situation over the next 12 months. ($1 = 0.8618 euros)
