Fourth of July weather forecast: NWS on July 4th rain, temperatures for Central Indiana fireworks
Happy Fourth of July, Indianapolis! Turn on those fans and crank up the air conditioners.
The National Weather Service in Indianapolis forecasts a muggy day, but skies should remain clear for July 4th fireworks.
"It will be important to hydrate and stay cool," NWS-Indianapolis meteorologist Jason Puma said. "Take frequent breaks inside, and be sure to check up on children and the elderly who may be more susceptible to heat."
Here's what we know about temperatures, chances of rain and more:
Puma said Central Indiana should see temperatures in the lower 90s on Friday, July 4, 2025:
"Expect a sunny and hot day in Central Indiana. High temperatures should be around 92 degrees in Indianapolis. It will be more humid than it has been the last couple of days, so the heat index will be around the upper 90s to right around 100. It will be warm and humid outside."
Middle afternoon to early evening hours will be the worst time to be outdoors on the Fourth of July, according to Puma.
"Should probably see the 90s start around 2 p.m. and persist to around 7 p.m. before slipping into the 80s."
Puma said not to expect rain to stand in the way of July 4th fireworks near Indianapolis Friday night:
"We're really looking for dry weather. There's less than a 10 percent chance of rain, and it would be gone entirely by the time fireworks start. Most people should remain dry. If you get rain, you would be really lucky to get it. Most people will not see rain."
