Snatch theft suspect dies after being assaulted
KAJANG: A man believed to be involved in an attempted snatch theft died after being apprehended and allegedly assaulted by members of the public in a residential area near Batu 9, Cheras. Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received an emergency call at around 11.10am on Tuesday regarding an attempted snatch theft that targeted a 36-year-old woman who works as a teacher at a nearby kindergarten. 'Initial investigation revealed that the male suspect was caught by members of the public at the scene. 'Police personnel were dispatched and found the man unconscious and lying on the ground with visible injuries,' he said in a statement yesterday. Medical personnel later confirmed the man had died from his injuries, he added. 'The suspect had no identification documents and is believed to be a foreign national. 'A post-mortem was conducted on the same day and the cause of death is currently pending a laboratory analysis by a forensic pathologist,' he said. ACP Naazron said eight locals aged between 22 and 72 were detained at about 7.46pm on the same day of the incident. 'All suspects have been remanded for six days until Monday to assist in the ongoing investigation. 'The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the theft was detected by the apartment's security supervisor, who reported the matter to the authorities on June 30. Investigations revealed that fire hydrant nozzles located on the fifth to 17th floors of the apartment had gone missing. "A police team managed to arrest the suspects, aged 43 and 44, at 10.30pm on Thursday (July 24) after reviewing a now-viral CCTV video recording from a house located near the apartment block," he said in a statement on Friday (July 25). According to initial investigations, the male suspect has seven prior records related to narcotics and one criminal record, while the woman has eight narcotics-related records and five criminal records, in addition to both suspects testing positive for methamphetamine. Naazron said the suspects were remanded for three days from Friday to assist in the investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft. Suspected Snatch Thief Beaten To Death
KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 (Bernama) -- A man believed to be a foreigner was confirmed dead after being beaten by members of the public while attempting to rob a female kindergarten teacher in a residential area near Batu 9, Cheras on Tuesday. Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said his department received an emergency call from the public regarding the incident at 11.10 am. "Members from the Batu 9 Cheras Police Station rushed to the location and found a man lying injured and unconscious," he said in a statement today. According to him, an examination by the medical team that arrived at the location shortly afterwards confirmed that the suspect had died, believed to have been beaten by members of the public. "The robbery suspect who was approximately 160 centimetres tall, wore a black T-shirt and a pair of black shorts and did not have any identification documents," he said. Naazron said a post-mortem was conducted on the same day classified the cause of death as 'Pending Laboratory Analysis' by a Pathologist. Following the incident, police arrested eight local men aged between 22 and 72 at 7.46 pm on the day of the incident, to assist in the investigation. 'All individuals have been remanded for six days from July 23 to 28. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment for between 30 and 40 years and if not sentenced to death, can be given not less than 12 strokes,' he said. 'The victim had no identification documents and is believed to be a foreign national, fair-skinned, around 160 cm tall, wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts with an 'Adidas' logo,' he said in a statement. Paramedics who arrived shortly after confirmed that the man had died, believed to have succumbed to injuries from the alleged assault. A post-mortem was conducted on the same day, but the exact cause of death remains pending further laboratory analysis by forensic specialists. Later that evening, police arrested eight local men aged between 22 and 72, believed to be involved in the assault, and obtained a six-day remand order beginning July 23. The case is being investigated as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years and not fewer than 12 strokes of the cane if not sentenced to death. Naazron warned the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to promptly alert authorities in such situations.
