For 4 decades, blind school students achieving 100% success

Berhampur: All 11 students of Red Cross School for the Blind in Ganjam district, who appeared for the annual high school certificate (HSC) examination, passed on Friday, continuing the institute's 100% success rate for over four decades. Since its first batch appeared for the matric exams in 1983, students of the residential school have consistently achieved 100% pass rate. "Altogether 11 visually impaired students , including four girls, appeared for the HSC examination this year and cleared the exam," said principal Priya Ranjan Mahakuda. Two boys secured an A2 grade by achieving above 80%, he said. "In the classroom, the students are taught through Braille textbooks . However, they appeared for the examination with the assistance of a helper-writer. The blind students dictated their answers to the writer, a junior student," he said.
