For 4 decades, blind school students achieving 100% success
Berhampur: All 11 students of
Red Cross School for the Blind
in Ganjam district, who appeared for the annual high school certificate (HSC) examination, passed on Friday, continuing the institute's
100% success rate
for over four decades. Since its first batch appeared for the matric exams in 1983, students of the residential school have consistently achieved 100% pass rate.
"Altogether 11
visually impaired students
, including four girls, appeared for the
HSC examination
this year and cleared the exam," said principal Priya Ranjan Mahakuda. Two boys secured an A2 grade by achieving above 80%, he said.
"In the classroom, the students are taught through
Braille textbooks
. However, they appeared for the examination with the assistance of a helper-writer. The blind students dictated their answers to the writer, a junior student," he said.
"Most of the students who passed out from the school are now working in different organisations, including govt sector, across the country," said Nabeen Satapathy, a retired principal.
