Iraq sets price for Al-Jawahiri residential city at 900k IQD per square meter

Baghdad ( – Iraq's Ministry of Construction and Housing has set the price for units in the new Al-Jawahiri residential city at 900,000 Iraqi dinars per square meter, with sales centers now open for citizens to apply, the ministry announced on Monday (July 7, 2025). Ministry spokesperson Nabil Al-Saffar stated this is part of a major push to address the country's housing crisis through the development of several new cities. Other major projects moving forward include Ali Al-Wardi and Al-Fursan in Baghdad, Dhifaf Karbala, Al-Janain in Babil, and Al-Ghazlani in Mosul. Al-Saffar clarified that the government retains a 10% to 25% share in these projects, which will be allocated to deserving groups who do not own homes. He also noted that the Al-Fursan city is specifically designated for Ministry of Defence personnel at reduced prices. This long-term strategy of building new, integrated residential cities is seen as a key government solution to increase the housing supply and provide citizens with new opportunities for home ownership.
