All 10 NMC zones conduct 1-hour cleanliness campaign
Nagpur: 'One Date, One Hour, Together', an innovative cleanliness initiative jointly organised by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd (NSSCDCL), received an enthusiastic response on the first day of the month. Conducted under the guidance of municipal commissioner and administrator Abhijeet Chaudhari and led by additional commissioner Vasumana Pant, the initiative was implemented across all 10 municipal zones by their respective assistant commissioners on Monday. The campaign is part of the broader health and hygiene drive 'Adopt Cleanliness, Drive Away Diseases', which focuses on six key hygiene principles. The areas covered included Surve Nagar in Prabhag 36 of Laxmi Nagar zone; Sai Nagar and Jagruti Nagar Friends Colony in Prabhag 12 of Dharampeth zone; Old Basti in Manewada under Prabhag 34 of Hanuman Nagar zone; New Babulkheda, Dwarkapuri, and Kaushalya Nagar in Prabhag 33 of Dhantoli zone; Shyambagh in Prabhag 30 of Nehru Nagar zone; Bajeriya Chowk in Prabhag 19 of Gandhibagh zone; Anand Nagar and Shahu Mona Panchvati in Prabhag 5 of Satranjipura zone; Surya Nagar in Prabhag 24 of Lakadganj zone; Gandhi Chowk in Prabhag 3 of Ashi Nagar zone; and Sindhu Nagar Society in Prabhag 1 of Mangalwari zone. Sanitation workers cleaned streets, public spaces and residential areas during the one-hour drive. Citizens were also urged to be extra cautious during the monsoon to prevent health hazards. The campaign emphasised messages such as maintaining personal hygiene, ensuring cleanliness of homes and surroundings, keeping toilets and drainage areas clean, and refraining from littering in public places. After hawkers gone, Rs5cr multi-level parking in Sitabuldi opens for public
1 2 Nagpur: After the perennial congestion, primarily caused by hawker encroachments, was removed from the busy Sitabuldi market, the automated multi-level parking, which was lying vacant for months even after completion, has finally been opened for the public. The parking facility was set up by Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd ( NSSCDCL ) at a cost of around Rs5 crore in response to long standing complaints about congestion and lack of parking space in the market area. The automated system can accommodate up to 240 two-wheelers and 22 four-wheelers. A trained operator was appointed to manage the advanced parking system. Sources in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) said due to heavy encroachments on the road, people were not able to reach the multi-level parking. "Since the hawkers have been removed, the parking could be made available to the citizens. We will now further promote the parking facility," said the official. Municipal commissioner and administrator Abhijeet Chaudhari along with DCP (traffic) Archit Chandak and other officials visited the area after the hawkers were removed and two-side parking was introduced on the main road. "Encroachment must not be allowed to return in front of the parking site or surrounding areas," he said. He also directed officials to install clear signages to help guide citizens to the facility and encouraged visitors to the market to make full use of the parking infrastructure. Currently, the service is being offered free of charge. Chaudhari instructed NSSCDCL officials to ensure the facility operates at full capacity and provides maximum convenience to the public. He also emphasised continued vigilance by anti-encroachment department to prevent resurgence of illegal occupation in the area.
