Iran Confirms Nahid-2 Satellite is Operational in Orbit

Yara Sameh The Iranian Space Agency (ISA) has confirmed successful communication with the newly launched Nahid-2 satellite, having received its initial telemetry signals. This is reported by the Mehr News Agency , a partner of TV BRICS. According to ISA chief Hossein Salariyeh, these signals indicate that the satellite is stable and functioning as intended in its designated orbit following its launch from Russia's Vostochny Cosmodrome on 25 July. Nahid-2 is a telecommunications satellite that utilises the Ku-band, commonly used for broadband connectivity across the globe. Salariyeh stated that post-launch efforts are now focused on systematically testing each subsystem to ensure optimal performance. The satellite, entirely designed and built domestically, is equipped with a range of features including secure data transmission, onboard storage, and direct communication with ground stations. Salariyeh also highlighted that the successful launch of Nahid-2 marks a significant step forward in Iran's space capabilities, noting that the development of the next-generation Nahid-3 satellite is already underway. read more UAE's Lunar Mission Delayed to Tomorrow Twitter Lifts Trump's Account Ban Scientists Find Evidence Of 10،000 Black Holes Surrounding The Center Of The Milky Way Galaxy Greenhouse In Antarctica Able To Grow Vegetables Without Soil Or Sunlight Moving Over China: U.S. Is Again Home to World's Speediest Supercomputer Technology The 10 most expensive cars in the world Technology Top 10 fastest cars in the world Technology Lasers Could Make Computers 1 Million Times Faster Technology Smart technology taking control of our lives News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Australian politician Gareth Ward found guilty of rape

World Canberra, July 26 (UNI) A politician from New South Wales (NSW) has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two young men in Australia. A jury found Gareth Ward - who is still a sitting member of state parliament - guilty of three counts of indecent assault and one count of rape. Both of the victims, who were aged 18 and 24, said they were assaulted at Ward's home after meeting the 44-year-old through political circles between 2013 and 2015, reports BBC. Ward resigned as a state government minister and from the Liberal Party, when the accusations emerged in 2021, but refused to leave parliament and was re-elected as the member for Kiama in 2023. Iran launches Nahid-2 telecom satellite into orbit aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket

Tehran, July 25 (UNI) Iran's domestically made Nahid-2 telecommunications satellite was successfully launched into orbit today aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket, marking Tehran's second space-operation this week, reports Iran International. The launch took place from Russia's Vostochny Cosmodrome at 9:54 a.m. Tehran time, as part of a broader mission carrying two Russian Ionosfera-M satellites and 18 smaller payloads. Russian media did not publicly name Iran but said one of the CubeSats aboard was being launched 'for the benefit of a foreign customer.' Iranian outlets later confirmed it was Nahid-2. The 110-kilogram (242 lb) Iranian satellite is supposed to circle the Earth on a 500-kilometer (310-mile) orbit and has a service lifetime of two years. The launch comes four days after the IRGC launched its own Qased satellite carrier, an operation which it claimed would strengthen Tehran's space program. Observers say the timing reflects Tehran's intent to project technological resilience and strategic messaging following last month's war with Israel. While Iran maintains that its space program is not intended for weaponisation, analysts have repeatedly voiced concern over Iran's satellite launches due to their dual-use nature, stating that the same technology could be used to launch missiles, and each launch further advances Iran's ballistic missile capabilities. In November, Russia launched a pair of Iranian satellites named Kowsar and Hodhod, the first launched on behalf of the country's private sector. It followed two previous Russian launches of Iranian satellites in 2022 and 2024, highlighting the growing 'strategic partnership' between Moscow and Tehran. Simultaneously, Russian President Vladmir Putin has repeatedly offered mediation by Moscow in an effort to reach a settlement with Iran, while trying to assuage Israel's security concerns. Putin has further stressed that Russia hasn't given Iran any military assistance despite Moscow's open support for Tehran during its conflict with Jerusalem, trying to maintain good ties with Israel while further developing its economic and military ties with Iran.

Russia launches an Iranian communications satellite into orbit

MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian rocket sent an Iranian communications satellite into orbit Friday, a launch that highlighted strong ties between the two countries. The Soyuz rocket lifted off as scheduled from Vostochny launchpad in far eastern Russia, the country's state-controlled Roscosmos corporation said. It carried two Russian Ionosphere-M Earth observation satellites, along with Iran's Nahid-2 satellite and 17 smaller Russian satellites, and put them into designated orbits.
