Manhunt under way after Eastern Cape police clerk shot dead outside her home

Eastern Cape police are on the hunt for a gunman who shot and killed a police clerk at her home in White City, Sada township in Whittlesea, on Friday. Bongiwe Ramncwana, 48, was shot dead at about 17:30. Police spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni, said a suspect in a white Suzuki opened fire on Ramncwana. 'Ramncwana was attacked as she was opening the gate at her home, and was declared dead on the scene.' Ramncwana was an administrative clerk at the Whittlesea SAPS. Mdleleni said the motive for the shooting is not yet known, and the suspect has not been arrested. Police are appealing for assistance in tracking down the shooter.

Feet of an infant The baby is approximately four weeks old. Police in the Eastern Cape are searching for the mother of a baby that was found dumped on Saturday. Police officers attached to the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses (FCS) Unit have appealed for public assistance. The provincial police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, said police were called to a scene on Saturday, June 28. 'It is alleged that on Saturday, police were summoned to a scene and on arrival, they found +- four-week-old baby boy dumped and still alive. The baby was taken to the hospital for medical examination, and a case of child neglect was opened,' Mdleleni said. The police appeal to anyone who can assist with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact Detective Warrant Officer Sogiba at 0713524551 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
