Karnataka CM to launch development works worth ₹1,146.76 crore in Maddur taluk on July 28
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will launch development works worth ₹ 1,146.76 crore for Maddur taluk at a programme scheduled to be held on Sunday, July 28. The entrance to the venue of the function to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for the projects at Maddur has been designed in the style of Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha. Exhibition stalls to create awareness about the government programmes will also be set up at the venue by various departments, including Agriculture and Horticulture. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Minister in charge of Mandya district N. Cheluvarayaswamy, and others are also expected to participate in the programme. Speaking about the programme, MLA for Maddur M.K. Uday said that a host of projects aimed at development of canals and lakes, which benefit the farmers, along with works related to roads, drainage and drinking water supply will be inaugurated or launched during the event. Pointing out that the July 28 event in Maddur showed that the Congress government was prioritising development, Mr. Uday urged the public to participate in the function and join hands with the government in its development efforts. About 500 buses have been arranged to ferry the public for the programme. Disclosing the details of the programme, Deputy Commissioner of Mandya Kumar said that a total of 87 projects across 16 departments will be either inaugurated or their foundation stones will be laid. Out of the 87 projects with a cumulative cost of ₹ 1,146.76 crore, the foundation stones will be laid for 60 projects, while another 27 projects will be inaugurated. Superintendent of Mandya district police Mallikarjuna Baladandi said that adequate parking arrangements have been made for the vehicles arriving from various parts of the district. To ensure proper security arrangements for the event, about 1,000 police personnel will be deployed. Chief Executive Officer of Mandya Zilla Panchayat K.R. Nandini said 14 identity documents will be distributed to 85 liberated bonded labourers under the 'Nanna Guruthu' programme. Additionally, financial assistance will be provided to two beneficiaries under the Sarathi scheme aimed at helping eligible unemployed youth purchase vehicles like goods vehicles, taxis, and passenger auto rickshaws.

Scheme launched to digitally store vital documents of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
Bengaluru: In a move to empower SC and ST communities by safeguarding their access to welfare schemes, the govt has launched its flagship 'Nanna Guruthu' (My Identity) initiative in two gram panchayats — Huskur in Bengaluru Urban and Biligiriranganabetta in Chamarajanagar — as pilot locations. The rural development and panchayat raj (RDPR) and social welfare departments, which will jointly implement the initiative, aim to collect and securely store 13 essential govt documents in DigiLocker for every SC and ST beneficiary. These include Aadhaar, caste and income certificates, ration card, voter ID, pensions, Ayushman Bharat Health ID, and MGNREGA job cards, among others. "Nanna Guruthu will be implemented in Kalyana Karnataka gram panchayats based on learnings from the pilot project," said Priyank Kharge, RDPR minister. Officials say Biligiriranganabetta GP houses 82 SC and 1,732 ST individuals, while Huskur GP has 2,108 SC and 257 ST members. Officials will help residents collect, retrieve, and update the required documents. "If anyone loses their documents, the department concerned will provide documents. We will also help people update information in their documents," said an official. The scale of the task is significant. In Biligiriranganabetta GP, the target is to digitise 17,549 documents, of which 12,736 have already been uploaded. In Huskur GP, 14,517 of the targeted 18,246 documents have been secured. "Since the initiative is being implemented for SCs and STs, a request has been sent to the social welfare department to release Rs 16 crore from SCSP/TSP grant action plan for the year 2025-26," said the official. RDPR department has also written to all zilla panchayat chief executive officers, instructing them to prepare for expanding the initiative within their jurisdictions.

‘Nanna Guruthu' campaign in Mandya for rescued bonded labour
With the intention of ensuring all government facilities and benefits reach individuals rescued from bonded labour, a special campaign titled 'Nanna Guruthu' (My Identity) will be launched for the first time in Mandya district to provide 13 essential government documents. Presiding over a meeting on Friday, K.R. Nandini, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayat, directed officials to collect data of those who were rescued from bonded labour and submit a report within one month. She said that the date for the campaign would be finalised during a follow-up meeting scheduled for July. Ms. Nandini instructed officials to conduct a survey in every taluk, prepare a list of the landless and homeless, and create awareness among the community about the special campaign. She stressed the need to facilitate local level rehabilitation and provide an e-property account in addition to the 13 documents, which include Aadhaar card, birth certificate, caste and income certificate, e-Shram Card, ration card, voter ID, bank account, social security pension, PMJJBY (Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana), PMSBY (Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana), UDID Card (for persons with disabilities), MGNREGA Job Card and ABHA Card (Ayushman Bharat Health Account). District Planning Officer Dhanush, Zilla Panchayat deputy secretary Lakshmi, and officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
