Bahraini-Polish Economic Forum highlights joint investment opportunities
Samir Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), underscored that the Kingdom of Bahrain offers a wide range of investment opportunities that Polish companies can benefit from, particularly in the sectors of trade, construction, tourism, transportation, engineering, banking, and financial services. He noted that Bahrain's strategic location positions it as a key gateway to the markets of the Gulf, the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia. This came during his chairmanship of the Bahrain Chamber delegation participating in the Bahrain-Poland Economic Forum, hosted in the Lublin region with broad participation from senior officials and diplomats from both countries. Nass emphasised the importance of advancing bilateral relations and expanding economic and commercial cooperation, highlighting Bahrain's progress in economic diversification and its shift toward innovation, technology, and industry. He also pointed out that Bahrain's robust financial infrastructure is supported by the presence of over 400 offshore banks. Nass commended the professionalism and efficiency of the Polish people, noting the significant potential for joint cooperation, especially in areas such as food security, education, and advanced manufacturing. He called on business communities in both countries to actively participate in trade and economic events and to increase the number of joint forums to enhance cooperation opportunities. Jarosław Stawiarski, Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship, commended the forum as an important step toward strengthening economic partnerships. He emphasised that the region boasts substantial resources in agriculture, industry, and academic infrastructure, making it an attractive destination for Bahraini investments. Dariusz Marek Jedlina, President of the Lublin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, underscored the forum's role as a platform for fostering economic dialogue and building sustainable partnerships between the private sectors of both countries. He expressed the Chamber's keenness to support any joint initiatives. Waleed Kanoo, Vice Treasurer of BCCI, emphasised the Chamber's role in empowering the private sector and enhancing its competitiveness. He pointed out that the Chamber's sectoral committees serve as the voice of the market and provide scientifically grounded recommendations based on economic data analysis. Board member Ahmed Al Salloom described the forum as a positive step toward strengthening bilateral relations, stressing that Bahrain serves as a strategic gateway for Polish goods and investments. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation in technology, renewable energy, and green hydrogen. Board member Dr. Waheeb Al Khaja stressed the significance of cooperation in higher education and scientific research, calling for the expansion of academic partnerships and the launch of joint programmes to develop human capital. Additionally, a senior official at the International Cooperation Centre at the Lublin City Office, noted that the region offers an attractive investment environment for Gulf investors. She mentioned incentives such as tax refunds of up to 70% for up to 15 years, as well as advanced infrastructure including a regional airport and Europe's largest dry port. The forum witnessed the participation of over 40 Polish companies that expressed interest in expanding their operations in the Gulf region. The Bahraini delegation included prominent business figures from the health, food, education, and technology sectors. The forum concluded with the signing of several memoranda of understanding, reflecting the mutual desire to enhance transcontinental economic partnerships and cooperate in the areas of food security, manufacturing, education, financial services, and technology. Bahrain, Saudi business chambers discuss stronger youth entrepreneurship ties
The Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sameer Abdullah Nass, received a delegation from the Young Businessmen Council of the Eastern Province Chamber (Saudi Arabia) yesterday, to enhance cooperation among GCC chambers and foster the exchange of expertise. Nass underlined the strong fraternal and economic ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and commended the council's role in encouraging youth innovation. He stressed that the Bahrain Chamber views entrepreneurship as vital to the private sector and actively supports the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). He also noted improvements in the Chamber's sectoral committees, particularly through the use of performance indicators to measure outcomes and effectiveness. Chief Communications Officer Ebrahim Al-Tamimi gave an overview of Bahrain's economic and business ecosystem, including key entities such as the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Economic Development Board, Tamkeen, Bahrain Development Bank, and 'Export Bahrain,' among others. He highlighted the country's support systems for startups, funding, and international expansion. Abdulrahman Al-Afaleq, Chairman of the Eastern Province Business Youth Council, said the visit aimed to explore Bahrain's investment climate and build partnerships with Bahraini entrepreneurs. The council, which includes 50 members, seeks to inspire youth entrepreneurship and promote successful ventures. Ahmed Al-Sharaf, Business Development Director at Tamkeen, showcased the organisation's range of funding, training, and advisory programmes that support business growth and sustainability. The Saudi delegation also visited incubators run by the Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Development Society, where they reviewed mechanisms for supporting startups and encouraging innovation across different sectors.

TDT| Manama A call for stronger cooperation in the digital economy and expanded investment links with Germany took centre stage as Bahrain Chamber Chairman Sameer Nass led a high-level delegation to Berlin this week. Speaking at the Arab-German Chamber (Ghorfa) board meeting, Nass underscored the urgent need for joint initiatives to foster innovation-driven growth amid global challenges. Nass highlighted the EURO62.1 billion trade between Germany and Arab nations in 2023, describing it as a solid base for deeper engagement. He noted that Bahrain-Germany trade alone amounted to $656 million during the same period. Digital Focus The Chamber's chairman stressed that digital cooperation must be a cornerstone of future Arab-German relations. 'To sustain economic growth, we need to look beyond traditional sectors and embrace the digital economy,' he said during the event in Berlin. Nass also pointed to significant opportunities to expand trade and investment despite macroeconomic headwinds, suggesting that Germany and the Arab world should jointly explore forward-looking sectors. Strategic Role The Bahrain Chamber delegation took part in the 28th Arab-German Business Forum, which focused on sustainable integration and long-term partnerships. First Vice-Chairman Khalid Najibi addressed the gathering, noting Bahrain's role as an investment gateway to the Gulf. He called for deeper ties with Germany, especially in renewable energy and technology, and stressed that Bahrain's geographic and regulatory advantages make it a natural partner for German businesses looking to enter the region. Future Growth Path Secretary- General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, urged a shift from conventional trade towards technology transfer and joint investments. 'Sustainable development requires us to move together into new economic territory,' he said, echoing the Chamber's position. The meetings are expected to lay the groundwork for follow-up agreements, especially in future-oriented sectors like digital infrastructure and clean energy.

Bahrain, UK explore new economic ties
Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber, Sameer Nass received the Minister of Investment of the United Kingdom, Baroness Poppy Gustafsson yesterday at the Chamber's headquarters. Speaking at the meeting, Nass praised the historic and growing partnership between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, noting that bilateral trade has surpassed USD 600 million, with an increase of 43%. He also outlined the Chamber's role in helping drive Bahrain's economic development and emphasized the attractive opportunities available to British investors across various sectors such as technology, financial services and cybersecurity. Nass highlighted Bahrain's strategic location, pro-business regulatory environment, and openness to foreign investment. He further pointed to Bahrain's robust financial infrastructure and highly skilled workforce as key advantages for UK companies looking to expand into the region, encouraging the development of joint ventures and long-term partnerships. Minister Gustafsson expressed her enthusiasm for exploring innovative forms of collaboration. She commended Bahrain's inclusive and dynamic business community and proposed the exchange of more trade delegations to deepen ties.
