GCC Championships Back in Bahrain After 13 Years

TDT | Manama Bahrain is set to host the 2025 GCC Swimming Championships on July 11–12 at Khalifa Sports City Complex. This is the first time the kingdom has staged the event since 2012, bringing a premier Gulf aquatic competition back to home waters after more than a decade. Bahrain Looks to Impress Organised by the Bahrain Swimming Association, the event highlights Bahrain's growing role in regional water sports. Under the leadership of president Abdullah Atiya, the championship aims to show the kingdom's ability to deliver a high-standard competition environment. The GCC Swimming Championships provide a key platform for regional swimmers to compete at a high level and gain vital experience. The event is designed to foster emerging talent and sharpen competitive skills across Gulf nations. Backing from Key Partners The championship benefits from support by major sponsors including Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), and Right Calories. Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre Launches Cybersecurity Guardians Hackathon

Manama: The Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre has launched the first edition of the Cybersecurity Guardians Hackathon. The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre, in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Centre and the University of Bahrain. According to Bahrain News Agency, the preparatory day featured specialised training workshops attended by Dr. Abdulla bin Nasser Al Noaimi, CEO of the Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre, and Shaikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Deputy CEO for Cyber Operations at the National Cybersecurity Centre. The sessions equipped over 500 high school, university, and postgraduate participants with essential skills to tackle cybersecurity challenges during the competition. Participants formed teams and selected challenges to develop practical and innovative cybersecurity solutions focusing on network security, cloud security, IoT security, application security, and AI-driven threat detection and data analysis. Experts from the Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre and the National Cybersecurity Centre provided guidance, ensuring both beginners and experienced participants gained valuable insights. The hackathon aims to foster early interest in cybersecurity among high school students, while university students apply their academic expertise to real-world security challenges. Teams will submit final proposals by February 18, with project evaluations on February 19, and winners announced on February 22.
