Breakfast trio suffer huge drop in latest radio figures
Two of Perth's most popular FM radio stations have haemorrhaged listeners, led by a breakfast tune out.
Nova FM and 96FM both recorded drops in their audience share of more than two percentage points, in the latest radio ratings out on Tuesday.
The biggest change from the latest GFK ratings report — covering the period from April to July — was Nova's breakfast trio Nathan Morris, Nat Locke and Shaun McManus' four per cent drop in audience to 15.5 per cent.
The FM station recorded drops across all its daytime programming, as did 96FM, which still held its rank as Perth's most listened to radio station.
Nova however lost its spot in second, dethroned by Mix 94.5, which rose to an audience share of 12.8 per cent. Shaun McManus, Tony Galati, Nat Locke and Ross Wallman at Nova's Tony Galati on May 29, 2025. Credit: Matt Jelonek / The West Australian
Morris revealed near the beginning of this ratings cycle the reasons for a protracted absence from the airwaves in May after three month off, explaining he had been dealing with some 'legal issues'.
'Something happened in my personal life that was one of these monumental things that happens that you can't really process,' he said.
'Something comes in that's so different no one has gone through it, no one can give you advice.
'It started back last year and reared again this year. I can't speak too much about it because there is legal proceedings that's got nothing to do with me but I cannot speak about it because of that.'

Over on the AM band, ABC radio remained steady, with small drops in audience share after growing most of this year.
Breakfast host Mark Gibson dropped 0.2 per cent, while Afternoons' Jo Trilling saw her audience fall to 3.6 per cent, the lowest point so far this year.
6PR defector and new ABC Drive host Gary Adshead grew his share by 0.3 per cent, consolidating his late afternoon time slot.
While 6PR's breakfast duo of Steve Mills and Karl Langdon were hit by a near 1 percentage point fall in their share to 8.3 per cent, Mornings host Simon Beaumont recorded a rise of 1.6 per cent to 8.3 per cent
