Nathan Kueh wins Geelong Open
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Nathan Kueh beat Australia's world No. 290 Connor Hayes 11-6, 11-8, 11-3 to win the Geelong Open in Victoria, Australia, today.
Nathan, who is ranked world No. 317, won the men's final for his first international title.
Seeded 12th, Nathan, who just completed his bio engineering studies at University of Pennsylvania, United States, upset Austria's top seed and world No. 133 Aqeel Rehman 11-6, 11-2, 13-15, 11-8 in the semi-finals.
Nathan said: "I kind of expected to win this tournament and I will next focus on the Victorian Open this coming week in Melbourne which should be harder.
"The final was good. I started really strong but lost a little focus in the second game which made the score a little close compared to the other two games.
"I started playing professional squash actively a few months ago, and this is my first title," said Nathan.
