Get a dozen doughnuts for just 88 cents at Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme knows how to spread the love. Whether it's celebrating National Doughnut Day, the Olympics or giving away a sweet treat after a stressful day, the beloved chain has plenty of deals for doughnut fans. This Friday, July 18, Krispy Kreme is set to celebrate 88 years with another tasty offer: a dozen glazed doughnuts for just 88 cents. You read that right: For one day only you can get an Original Glazed dozen for a mere 88 cents when you purchase any dozen at regular price. "Eighty-eight has never felt and tasted so great," said Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme Chief Brand and Product Officer. "It's a real joy every year celebrating Krispy Kreme's birthday with our fans and treating them to a special deal. We're so grateful for their love and loyalty." The deal is good for up to two discounted dozens in store or via the drive-thru, or one dozen when ordered online for pickup or delivery (use code BDAY). It's only available while supplies last, so get there early to claim your party favor. This celebration tips its hat to Krispy Kreme's roots. Back in 1937, founder Vernon Rudolph started by selling doughnuts wholesale. But the heavenly aroma pouring onto the street drew in passersby hungry for a taste. Rudolph cut a hole in the wall, started selling direct to customers, and the Original Glazed legend was born. Eighty-eight years later, the formula hasn't changed: a melt-in-your-mouth classic that's impossible to resist—especially when that famous Hot Light is glowing. Today, Krispy Kreme keeps fans happy with new flavors and limited drops, but the Original Glazed remains the hero. Find Krispy Kreme shops and select grocery retailers nationwide here, or order online via their app or website.

Celebrate National Doughnut Day in Cleveland

Free doughnuts are on the menu Friday for National Doughnut Day — aka National Donut Day in some circles. The big picture: National chains, including 7-Eleven, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' and Sheetz, are celebrating June 6 with savings on your sugar fix. Flashback: The fake holiday was established in Chicago as a Salvation Army fundraiser in 1938. It honored the Donut Lassies who served the circular treats to soldiers during World War I. 💭 Sam's thought bubble: My west side ZIP code is prime real estate for local doughnut lovers, with Brewnuts and Goldie's both less than a mile away. Between the sprinkles: Brewnuts' daily offerings are so enormous and decadent that I pretty much reserve them for special occasions or photo ops. For Friday's festivities, they've got limited edition swag and are offering free mini doughnuts to the first 100 customers. Goldie's has grown on me since opening in 2023, with rock-solid basics and just enough variety to avoid redundancies in a dozen box.

Doughnut Snob brings gourmet doughnuts to CBS News Texas for National Doughnut Day

Friday is National Doughnut Day, and what better way to celebrate than with some of the best doughnuts North Texas has to offer? CBS News Texas invited The Doughnut Snob, a Fort Worth-based food truck known for its gourmet creations, to pull up and treat the newsroom. CBS News Texas The team also got a peek inside the compact kitchen, where owner David Cudmore claims they're serving the best doughnuts in Texas, at least according to one particular customer base. "There's a myth about law enforcement officers and doughnuts," Cudmore said. "We have been told repeatedly all over North Texas by police officers that we have the best doughnuts." Sweet cream, buttermilk base So, what's the secret? "We make a sweet cream, buttermilk cake doughnut," Cudmore said. Each doughnut starts with a rich batter that's dropped into hot oil by a machine he calls "the hopper," then fried to golden perfection. After that, the real fun begins -- decorating with a lineup of creative, homemade toppings. Creative flavors steal the show A favorite at the station was the apple cinnamon streusel dipped in a house-made crumble. But he also served up Samoa, Bavarian cream, maple bacon, Oreo, blueberry cheesecake, and their seasonal hit, strawberry shortcake doughnuts. "My favorite is the blueberry cheesecake," Cudmore said. "They're definitely a splurge, but always worth it. Calories are calories," he added. "But doughnuts aren't always just doughnuts." Competing for food truck gold The Doughnut Snob has clearly made an impression in North Texas. This weekend, Cudmore and his crew will compete at the Food Truck Championships of Texas in Graham, entering their seasonal strawberry shortcake doughnut in hopes of bringing home the gold -- and a grand prize of $10,000.
