EuroMillions chaos as Irish punters scramble to check if they won €250m jackpot
One person in Ireland has officially become the biggest EuroMillions winner the country has ever seen - scooping a jaw-dropping €250m jackpot in Tuesday night's record-breaking draw.
And the mystery player may even still be unaware of the life-changing news, as the National Lottery app crashed under the weight of users desperate to check their tickets.
A message on the app read: "High traffic. Please try again later. Due to high traffic volumes we are unable to process your request at this time."
The jackpot had remained capped at €250 million for four consecutive draws before finally being won by a single Irish ticket holder in tonight's main EuroMillions draw. The winning numbers were: 13, 22, 23, 44, 49 with Lucky Stars 03 and 05.
The unnamed ticketholder has made history - surpassing the previous Irish record win of €175.4 million, claimed by a family syndicate in The Naul, Co Dublin in 2019. This win marks Ireland's 18th EuroMillions jackpot victory.
And it wasn't just one winner in the main draw on the night.
Another Irish player matched five numbers to bag €20,064,
While a third matched four numbers and two Lucky Stars to win €1,299.
In the EuroMillions Plus draw, the winning numbers were: 11, 19, 30, 39 and 50. Another Irish punter scored big, claiming the €500,000 top prize, with the winning ticket sold in Co Wexford.
Meanwhile, 10 more players each won €5,000 in the Ireland Only Raffle. The winning codes are: I-SGZ-73597, I-SHH-52433, I-SHH-78201, I-SHJ-63567, I-SHK-24405, I-SHM-74478, I-SHN-58389, I-SHQ-05461, I-SHQ-95809, I-SHR-22364.
In total, over 92,000 players in Ireland won prizes across Tuesday's EuroMillions and Plus games.
Anyone who thinks they may be holding the golden ticket is urged to check their numbers carefully and contact the National Lottery's Claims Department on 1800 666 222.
Winners have 90 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize - though something tells us this jackpot winner won't be waiting long!
