DU to upload internal, practical marks on Samarth portal to help students track performance regularly

To boost transparency and improve student engagement, Delhi University will upload internal assessment and practical examination marks of its students on the Samarth portal — a centralised digital platform managed by the Ministry of Education. The decision, DU officials say, is part of a broader push to make academic progress more visible and accessible for students. Speaking to The Indian Express, a senior DU official said, 'Last month, Vice-Chancellor directed that in order to ensure students can track their performance regularly and make progress by analysing where improvement is required — and also to monitor how much attendance is needed — the internal and practical marks will be published online on the Samarth portal.' 'Earlier, this was not the case. Students only received the final consolidated exam results at once,' the official added. Students at Delhi University will now be able to log in to the portal and view their internal marks periodically, allowing them to identify academic gaps and plan remedial action during a particular semester. The Samarth portal, launched in 2019 by the Union Ministry of Education under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), is a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. It aims to empower higher education institutions (HEIs) with a digital framework for managing academic and administrative services — from student admissions and staff management to exam results and attendance. So far, several universities across India have adopted the platform, which promises end-to-end digital integration. For students, this means streamlined access to information, reduced delays, and better record-keeping. 'Samarth portal has already been beneficial to several educational institutions in our country and is making digitisation easier in the education sector,' the DU official noted.
