Yemen: "Iran's Arming of Houthis Hinders Peace, Fuels Conflict"

Yemen's Deputy Foreign Minister Mustapha Noman sharply criticized what he described as Iran's ongoing 'hostile policies' against the Yemeni people, accusing Tehran of persistently arming the Houthi movement with large quantities of weapons that prolong the country's devastating conflict. Noman said Iran should have learned 'harsh lessons' from the thousands killed across the Arab world and the destruction of vital infrastructure that has drained regional resources. Instead, he said, Tehran continues to supply its allies with arms, fueling 'ventures that bring misery to Yemenis.' His remarks came two days after Yemen's National Resistance forces (NRF), led by Brig. Gen. Tariq Saleh, thwarted a major Iranian arms smuggling attempt off the coast of Hodeidah in western Yemen. The intercepted shipment reportedly included advanced sea-to-air and air-to-air missile systems, air defense units, modern radar equipment, drones, surveillance devices, and anti-tank missiles destined for the Houthis. Noman praised the Coast Guard's 'precision operation' launched from their bases in Al-Mokha, calling it 'a reassuring signal of vigilance and readiness.' He urged recognition of the 'tremendous efforts' by the National Resistance and Coast Guard forces despite limited technical and military resources. Moreover, Noman condemned Iran's actions as obstructing United Nations-led peace efforts in Yemen. 'It is regrettable that Iran persists in hostile policies against the Yemeni people by continuing to arm the Houthis with large quantities of weapons that negatively impact efforts to end the conflict,' he said. He added that instead of supporting peace, the Iranian government 'continues to place obstacles in the path of every peace initiative led by UN envoy Hans Grundberg.' Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), praised the actions of the NRF saying. 'We commend the legitimate government forces of Yemen who continue to interdict the flow of Iranian munitions bound for the Houthis,' he said. 'The interdiction of this massive Iranian shipment shows that Iran remains the most destabilizing actor in the region. Limiting the free flow of Iranian support to the Houthis is critical to regional security, stability, and freedom of navigation,' he added.

National Resistance Thwarts Largest Smuggling Operation of Iranian Weapons to Houthi Militia

The National Resistance announced on Thursday that it had thwarted one of the largest smuggling operations of Iranian weapons to the Houthi militia. The high-profile operation was carried out by its naval forces and intelligence units in mid-June in the Red Sea. In a statement, the military media of the National Resistance reported that the operation took place on **June 27**, resulting in the seizure of a smuggling vessel named **"Al-Sharwa."** The ship was carrying a massive shipment of advanced weapons, estimated at **750 tons**, sent by Iran's Revolutionary Guards to their proxy, the Houthi militia in Yemen. The statement added that the confiscated weapons included: - **Air defense and missile systems** (naval and aerial) - **Attack and reconnaissance drones** - **Advanced radar systems** - **Launching systems** - **Eavesdropping devices** - **Konkurs anti-tank missiles** - **B10 cannons** - **Advanced sniper rifles** - **Tracking lenses** - **Large quantities of ammunition** (including Kalashnikov and "Shiki" rounds) and other military equipment. The Resistance emphasized that this smuggling operation exposes **Iran's ongoing scheme to arm the terrorist Houthi militia**, debunking the group's claims of having "domestic military manufacturing capabilities." It also reveals the extent of the threat posed by the Iranian regime to **international navigation in the Red Sea** through its armed proxies. The statement noted that the weapons were **tightly concealed**: strategic systems were disassembled and hidden inside **electric generators and industrial machinery**, while ammunition was stashed within **large battery compartments** to mislead maritime surveillance units. The military media detailed that the operation began with **precise intelligence tracking** of a suspicious vessel departing from the **coast of the Horn of Africa**, operated by smugglers linked to the Houthi militia. Naval forces of the Resistance then intercepted the ship **west of the international maritime route in the Red Sea**, towing it to a secure area where the cargo was unloaded and documented. The National Resistance stated that it would soon release **confessions from the ship's crew** and broadcast footage showing samples of the seized weapons and equipment.

YNR : Intercepted Massive Iranian Weapons Shipment Bound for Houthis from IRGC

Red Sea — Yemen's National Resistance Forces announced the successful interception of a large Iranian weapons shipment destined for the Houthi militia, marking one of the most significant seizures in the country's recent history. According to Brigadier General Tareq Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, commander of the National Resistance and member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, the operation was carried out in the Red Sea following precise intelligence tracking. The seized cargo, totaling over 750 tons, included advanced missile systems, combat drones, radar and surveillance equipment, and communication devices. Details of the Seized Shipment - Cruise, anti-ship, and anti-aircraft missiles - Iranian Ghaem-118 air defense systems - Noor-Qadir naval cruise missiles, rebranded by Houthis as 'Mandeb-1' - Drone engines and signal interception devices - High-precision sniper rifles and recoilless rifles - Manuals written in Farsi, confirming Iranian origin Many of the weapons matched models previously showcased by the Houthis as 'locally manufactured,' debunking years of propaganda about a domestic arms industry. Strategic Implications General Saleh emphasized that the seizure dealt a major blow to Iran's Revolutionary Guard operations in Yemen, stating: 'This operation reaffirms our commitment to countering Iranian expansion and protecting Yemen's sovereignty. Long live the Republic of Yemen.' The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) praised the operation, calling it the largest interdiction of Iranian conventional weapons in Yemen's history. CENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla noted: 'Iran remains the most destabilizing actor in the region. Halting its support to the Houthis is vital for regional security and freedom of navigation.' The seizure aligns with UN Security Council resolutions prohibiting arms transfers to the Houthis. It also underscores growing international concern over Iran's role in fueling conflict across the region.

Massive Arms Haul Exposes Iran's Direct Role in Yemen Conflict

SANA, July 17: Tariq Saleh, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council and commander of the West Coast forces, announced the interception of a major weapons shipment following monitoring and surveillance conducted by the intelligence division of the National Resistance. According to Saleh, the seized cache included naval and air missile systems, an air defense system, advanced radars, drones, surveillance equipment, anti-tank missiles, B-10 artillery, tracking lenses, sniper rifles, ammunition, and various military hardware. Saleh reaffirmed his commitment to countering the activities of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the region. Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command confirmed that Yemeni forces had confiscated over 750 tons of munitions and military equipment, which included hundreds of sophisticated anti-ship missiles, drones, warheads, radar systems, communications gear, and search devices. Commenting on the development, Yemeni Information Minister Muammar al-Eryani described the seizure as the largest Iranian weapons shipment intercepted to date, destined for the Houthi militia. He added that the presence of Persian-language operating manuals among the cargo underscores Iran's direct role in fueling regional instability. Al-Eryani stressed that the Houthi militia serves merely as a local proxy for the Revolutionary Guard's broader expansionist ambitions deep within Yemeni territory.
