HCT Partners with Saal.ai to Equip Emirati Students with AI and Big Data Skills

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) has partnered with cognitive technology firm to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and big data into its academic programs, aiming to prepare Emirati students for the demands of a digital future. Signed at HCT's campus, the agreement brings together the UAE's largest higher education institution and part of Abu Dhabi Capital Group, in a bid to align with the UAE's innovation-driven goals and the Year of Community initiative. Central to the collaboration is the introduction of DigiXT, enterprise-grade AI and data platform, into HCT's curricula. This will provide students with hands-on experience in real-world AI applications, boosting both their technical skills and employability. Dr. Faisal Alayyan, President and CEO of HCT, described the move as a 'transformative milestone,' emphasizing the importance of building a generation of agile, future-ready problem solvers equipped to lead in a digital economy. CEO Vikraman Poduval highlighted the initiative as a step toward national progress, stressing the company's commitment to practical education and fostering innovation through public-private collaboration. The partnership aligns with the UAE's National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 and HCT's 2023–2028 vision focused on applied learning and industry engagement. The partnership aims to integrate generative AI into DEWA's core operations. The announcement was made during a high-level meeting. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, welcomed a delegation led by Ziad Jammal, General Manager – Google Cloud UAE, Levant, and North Africa. The meeting was also attended by: Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub During the visit, DEWA revealed the launch of a series of AI-generated podcasts using Google Cloud's NotebookLM technology. The initiative enables fast content creation with consistent quality and multilingual capabilities. DEWA reported that the use of NotebookLM reduced production costs by over 99%. Turnaround time improved by more than 95% compared to traditional podcasting methods. The move aligns with the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. It supports the UAE's goal to become a global leader in AI adoption. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer stated that DEWA aims to be the world's first AI-native utility. He noted that integrating advanced gen AI technologies helps DEWA keep pace with digital transformation. Ziad Jammal of Google Cloud praised DEWA's efforts. He said the partnership shows the power of generative AI in driving business value and innovation at scale. DEWA confirmed the initiative is delivering annual cost avoidance of AED 25.5 million. This allows resources to be redirected to other strategic priorities. The collaboration demonstrates how AI can enhance sustainability, innovation, and operational efficiency. His Highness praised the company's rapid progress enabling accelerated technology development and innovation, and its emergence as a globally leading investor in AI infrastructure and technology that contributes to boosting productivity, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring a more sustainable and prosperous future for board reviewed MGX's financial performance for 2024, welcoming the remarkable progress achieved in the build-out of the MGX portfolio, including the latter's leading role in the establishment of the AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP), which recently welcomed xAI and Nvidia to the founding partnership of MGX, BlackRock and Microsoft. The board similarly welcomed MGX investments in leading large language models (LLM's) including Open AI, Anthropic and xAI.
