MoSY, QDA sign pact to promote health awareness among youth
QNA Doha The Ministry of Sports and Youth (MoSY) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Doctors Association to promote health awareness among young people. The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties in implementing educational programmes and initiatives in the areas of mental health, proper nutrition, physical activity, and community health, contributing to building a health-conscious generation capable of effectively contributing to national development. Under the MoU, awareness workshops and seminars will be organised, educational content will be developed for youth, and youth initiatives in the health sector will be supported, in line with Qatar's National Youth Policy. This partnership between the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Qatar Doctors Association reflects both sides' commitment to promoting public health among young people and providing a supportive environment that enables them to make informed health decisions, contributing to building a healthier and more sustainable society. In his remarks on the occasion, Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifri indicated that the signing of the MoU comes as part of the ministry's efforts to open up to all youth energies in various fields, particularly in the health sector, which is a fundamental pillar in building an informed and productive youth society. He said that the ministry believes that empowering youth health-wise is a direct investment in the nation's future, and reflects its commitment to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and the ministry's strategic objectives through qualitative partnerships with civil society organisations such as the Qatar Doctors Association. He added that such partnerships represent a significant value in achieving the ministry's strategic objectives and reflect its openness to the nation's youthful potential across various fields. They also diversify activities and events, contributing to attracting the largest possible number of young people and engaging them in quality programmes that enhance their role in national development and achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. Summer innovation camp for entrepreneurs kicks off
Tribune News Network Doha The 2025 Summer Innovation Camp officially kicked off on Sunday, July 20, 2025. The camp is organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Club under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in collaboration with Qatar Chamber, with support from the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and hosted by Qatar University, with Snoonu as the innovation partner. The camp will run until August 12, featuring a variety of workshops and activities focused on startups, in addition to career exploration sessions targeting high school and university students. The camp's activities are held across multiple locations, including the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) and Qatar University. It aims to develop entrepreneurial and innovative thinking among youth, provide an interactive and educational environment for shaping ideas and entrepreneurial projects, enhance leadership and teamwork skills, and promote effective communication and critical thinking. It also offers valuable networking opportunities with entrepreneurs and industryprofessionals. Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifri, director of Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said: 'At the Ministry of Sports and Youth, we place great importance on empowering young people and enhancing their skills. The organisation of the 2025 Summer Innovation Camp falls within the Ministry's strategic plan to build a creative and entrepreneurial generation capable of actively contributing to the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and implementing the National Youth Policy. 'This camp is part of the ministry's broader summer camp programme, implemented across all affiliated youth centers and institutions, aimed at providing interactive learning environments that strengthen youth capabilities and support their future aspirations. Awqaf, MoSY launch second edition of Outstanding Young Researchers Award
QNA Doha The Ministries of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) and Sports and Youth have announced the launch of the second edition of the Outstanding Young Researchers Award, held this year under the theme 'Youth and Social Responsibility: Duties and Challenges... Qatari Society as a Model'. The award aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two parties and support efforts to empower Qatari and resident youth in the field of scientific research. Director of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies at Awqaf, Sheikh Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani said that the award is a qualitative initiative targeting young researchers, seeking to encourage them to study the most pressing societal challenges and propose practical solutions that contribute to the advancement of society. He pointed out that the first edition of the award addressed the issue of late marriage and its impact on young people in Qatari society. He explained that the second edition features nine research themes addressing the legal, educational, and cultural dimensions of social responsibility, in addition to the role of values and national identity, voluntary work, and youth initiatives, as well as the intellectual, cultural, and economic challenges facing young people in shouldering this responsibility. For her part, Director of the Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth (MoSY), Maha Al Rumaihi said that the award represents one of the fruits of Qatar's National Youth Policy and reflects the Ministry's commitment to investing in the energies of young people, directing their interests toward serving the community, and fostering a balanced national character that is proud of its identity and capable of positively addressing challenges. She explained that the discussion of these issues by young researchers lends greater credibility to the proposal and enhances the effectiveness of its treatment. She also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in supporting scientific research among young people. The award's organizing committee has set several conditions and criteria for participation, including that the researcher be Qatari or a resident of Qatar, between the ages of 20 and 39, and that the research be prepared specifically for the award in Arabic, according to precise scientific methodology. The research must be no less than 100 pages and no more than 150 pages (A4 size). Two copies (PDF and Word) must be sent to the designated email address, along with a CV and a copy of the contestant's ID card. Two or more researchers are permitted to participate in preparing the research, but the award may be withheld or withdrawn in the event of non-compliance with the conditions or the discovery of violations. The value of the prizes allocated to the winners amounts to more than QR200,000, with the first-place winner receiving QR100,000, the second-place winner receiving QR75,000, and the third-place winner receiving QR50,000. Sunday, July 5, 2026, has been set as the deadline for submitting participating in research papers. The scientific evaluation phase will begin immediately thereafter, considering precise criteria that include the quality of content, the depth of analysis, and the realism of the proposed solutions.

Ministry of Sports and Youth, National Service Academy join forces to augment youth skills
QNA Doha The Ministry of Sports and Youth and the National Service Academy have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation in youth development and talent cultivation among national service recruits. In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry of Sports and Youth said the MoU falls within the framework of strengthening joint efforts to support and empower Qatari youth with the aim to familiarise national service recruits with the programmes and activities offered by the ministry's affiliated youth centres and to encourage their active participation, thereby contributing to the development of their skills and talents across various fields. The agreement outlines a range of joint initiatives, including the organisation of an annual youth centre forum at the Academy and the implementation of the 'Live the National Service' programme targeting youth aged 15 to 17. Additionally, it encompasses youth activities and training sessions held at the Academy, along with the exchange of expertise and knowledge between both entities to enhance youth engagement in community service and align with the nation's vision of building an informed and capable generation. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth HE Engineer Yasir bin Abdullah Al Jamal affirmed that this partnership aligns with the ministry's vision to empower Qatari youth and expand their involvement in various developmental sectors. He added that the initiative is in line with the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), which places youth at the core of its priorities as a driving force for a sustainable and prosperous future. Al Jamal also praised the pivotal role of the National Service Academy in shaping the character of young people and instilling a strong sense of responsibility.
