Nationwide and Dementia UK team up to offer free dementia support clinics in Ayrshire
The clinics will be visiting Ayrshire next month. Nationwide and Dementia UK are teaming up again to offer free face-to-face clinics in Ayrshire. As part of a Scotland-wide drive to offer specialist support in a safe, comfortable and private space, the clinics are visitng Ayr, Irvine and Kilmarnock next month. Hosted by Dementia UK's Admiral Nurses, the clinics are open to anyone impacted by dementia, offering life-changing support to families and individuals in the area. The clinics will take place over the next month, and appointments can be booked via Dementia UK's website here. The clinics will offer practical and emotional advice on all aspects of dementia – from worries about memory problems, understanding a diagnosis and how the condition can progress to help with financial and legal issues. Dementia clinics return to Glasgow and East Kilbride
Launched in partnership with Dementia UK, the clinics will be available at Nationwide branches, offering free, confidential support and advice from Admiral Nurses. The clinics will run in Glasgow Argyle Street on July 8, 9, and 10, and in East Kilbride from July 22 to 24. The clinics are open to anyone affected by dementia and provide practical and emotional support on topics ranging from memory concerns and understanding a diagnosis to financial planning and legal matters. Appointments can be booked through Dementia UK's website. As part of the service, Dementia UK has shared advice for starting conversations with loved ones who may be showing signs of dementia. The charity recommends acting when someone expresses frustration or distress, explaining that symptoms may overlap with other conditions, and offering support in arranging and attending GP appointments. The clinics are part of Nationwide's Fairer Futures programme, which addresses key social issues through partnerships with charities focusing on family poverty, youth homelessness, dementia, and cancer. Nationwide is funding 30 dementia specialist Admiral Nurse posts and hosting 200 pop-up clinics across the UK. Specialist dementia support coming to Newport high street
Dementia UK's Admiral Nurse clinics will return to Wales this summer, offering free face-to-face support at selected Nationwide branches, including Newport, in a familiar and private setting. The clinics, delivered by Dementia UK's specialist Admiral Nurses, are open to anyone affected by dementia and provide practical and emotional guidance on everything from memory concerns and diagnosis to financial planning and legal matters. The charity is urging people to act when the person becomes upset or frustrated, explaining the shared symptoms of dementia with other conditions, and supporting them in seeking help. Further advice will be available following the opening of the new clinics, hosted in partnership with Nationwide Building Society as part of its Fairer Futures programme. These clinics will aim to provide expert advice on memory issues, help with understanding diagnoses and the progression of dementia, guidance on financial and legal planning, and emotional support for families and carers.
