What Amrish Puri's Grandson Saw When He Entered The Room To Borrow His Socks, "Dadu And Dadi Were Fast Asleep And..."

Mumbai: Amrish Puri's grandson, Vardhaan Puri, recently recalled anecdotes from just days before the veteran actor's death. Taking to Instagram, Vardhaan shared a few throwback photos featuring his grandparents, Amrish and Urmila. In the black and white images, the 'Mr. India' actor could be seen posing alongside his wife. In the caption, Vardhaan Puri shared an emotional memory from just days before the veteran actor's death in January 2005. He recalled walking into his grandparents' room early one morning to borrow a pair of gym socks from his grandfather. Vardhaan found his grandparents peacefully asleep, their hands gently intertwined. As he watched their synchronized breathing and the calm smiles on their faces, he was struck by how much they had aged. He revealed that in that quiet, intimate moment, a sudden fear of losing them overwhelmed him. In the post, the Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story actor also expressed his love for his late grandmother. Vardhaan wrote, 'I love you, Dadi. 8 years since you are gone, but there's not a single moment that we as a family have not felt your presence in spirit. You exist in each breath we take. I can hear you sing lullabies in your sweet voice every time I cannot sleep. The clinking sound of your bangles never leaves my ears, especially when I feel lonely. Your nails painted in your favourite shade of pink still tickle my back all night when I need comforting.' 'You raised us with so much love. You shall forever be the real HERO of our family as Dadu always said.' The post further read, 'A few days before Dadu passed away in the January of 2005, when both Dadu and Dadi were 72 years old, I happened to enter their room early in the morning to borrow Dadu's gym socks. What I observed made me tear up. Dadu and Dadi were fast asleep… but their hands were intertwined in each others. Their chests moved up and down slowly and there was a smile on their lips. Suddenly I realized that they both didn't look as young as they used to look a few years back and the thought of losing them scared the living daylights out of me. I kept staring at them.' 'In that moment it hit me that life is oh so temporary and unpredictable. But love will stay forever. 1st July will always be bittersweet for my family. I hope I make you proud everyday, Dadi.-Your Raja #UrmilaAmrishPuri #Hero.' Thailand follows Bollywood script, gets a one-day prime minister in Suriya

Remember Nayak, the 2001 Shankar's classic where journalist Shivaji, played by Anil Kapoor, becomes a chief minister for a day and sets the system ablaze? Thailand seems to be dabbling in its own version of that Bollywood script. On Wednesday, veteran politician and Thailand's deputy PM Suriya Jungrungreangkit took over as the country's acting prime minister, a post he'll hold for around 24 hours before being replaced in a scheduled cabinet reshuffle, reported news agency it's not fiction. It's just a result of Thailand's politics moving at a fast pace of elevation of Suriya Jungrungreangkit comes after the Constitutional Court suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Tuesday. The court found "sufficient cause to suspect" that the 38-year-old, who is the daughter of former PM Thaksin Shinawatra, breached ministerial ethics in the midst of a diplomatic row involving the heart of the controversy was a leaked audio recording where Paetongtarn referred to Cambodian ex-leader Hun Sen as "uncle" and described a Thai military commander as her "opponent". The remarks, made during a tense cross-border standoff that turned deadly in May, sparked outrage and triggered accusations of undermining the Thai Shinawatra's suspension added to the turbulence already facing her family's political dynasty, with her father Thaksin Shinawatra currently facing royal defamation charges in THAILAND PM FOR JUST A DAYadvertisementEnter Suriya Jungrungreangkit. He was, so far, Thailand's transport minister and deputy 70-year-old politician took the reins as acting prime minister after Paetongtarn's suspension. Jungrungreangkit attended a ceremonial event in Bangkok marking the 93rd anniversary of the prime minister's office, an ironic setting for a man who won't even be in office for 93 dubbed a political weathervane for his ability to align with ruling powers, Suriya's day-long premiership is going to be short-lived. A cabinet reshuffle, already on the cards, will culminate in the swearing-in of Phumtham Wechayachai as the new interior minister and deputy PM on AND THE SHINWATRA DYNSATYDespite assigning herself the post of culture minister in the new Cabinet, Paetongtarn's fall from the top seat reflects the Shinawatra family's waning grip on Thai seen as the unstoppable force behind the ruling Pheu Thai party, Paetongtarn's plummeting approval ratings and desertion by coalition allies have weakened her standing now, Thailand has embraced its own Nayak moment, though unlike in the film, not many would be expecting Suriya to clean up the system overnight, like Anil Kapoor did in the movie.- Ends

Govt-run lender flags irrigation debt crisis: Telangana defaults on loans, faces NPA threat; must repay Rs 1.4k crore in 2 days

HYDERABAD: The Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) has warned the Telangana govt that two of its loan accounts linked to Kaleshwaram and other irrigation projects would be declared as non-performing assets (NPA) if dues of Rs 1,393 crore are not cleared within the next couple of days. "This delay in servicing the dues has negative impact on the rating of the utilities and state as a whole," says a letter sent by REC's finance director, Jatin Kumar Nayak. Another Rs 890 crore dues in the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation Limited (KIPCL) account must be cleared by June 29. The two special purpose vehicles (SPV) were floated by the previous BRS govt for taking up various irrigation projects, including Kaleshwaram, Palamuru-Ranga Reddy, Sitarama, Devadula, Sriram Sagar flood flow canal and Kanthanapally irrigation projects. Nayak wrote to state irrigation secretary Rahul Bojja and finance department principal secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania on June 6 with the details coming to light on Thursday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Dues over Rs 17k crore from Kaleshwaram corp ltd The govt has dues of Rs 10,278 crore from State Water Resources Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (TSWRIDCL) and Rs 17,232 crore from Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation Limited (KIPCL.) Bojja told TOI that generally the finance department handles loan repayment. "The govt will resolve the issue," he insisted. In his letter, Nayak said the two loan accounts had already been categorised as special mention accounts (SMA-2) as both principal and interest amount had not been paid for over 68 days. This means the loan repayment has not been made for over 60 days. SMA indicates that the account is at risk of becoming NPA after 90 days. This is not the first time that the state has defaulted on payments. In Aug and Sept 2024, dues in the two accounts had collectively reached Rs 1,009 crore and were cleared after repeated reminders. REC in its letter to the state govt in Nov 2024, said, "Both KIPCL and TSWRIDCL have been consistently defaulting in debt servicing of REC loans despite multiple follow-ups with both the entities. The utilities are clearing the overdue around 73 to 85 days from the due date which results in additional financial burden due to penal interests. " At the same time, the state govt has been requesting the Centre to restructure its SPV loans. Chief minister Revanth Reddy in Dec last year urged Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to restructure the debt of various corporations and SPVs as these were raised through off-budget borrowings. He said KIPCL had raised Rs 31,795 crore from the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and REC at interest rates of 10.75% to 11.25%.
