Pizza chain you've never heard of that's ‘miles better' than Domino's to open four new sites across UK
The owners founded the chain after returning from a 'pizza pilgrimage' in Italy PIZZA THAT Pizza chain you've never heard of that's 'miles better' than Domino's to open four new sites across UK A LITTLE-KNOWN pizza chain is quietly expanding - with four new locations set to open across the UK. Pizza Pilgrims, founded in 2012 by brothers James and Thom Elliot, is fast approaching 29 sites nationwide. Advertisement 3 Pizza Pilgrims will soon have 29 sites Credit: Instagram/@pizzapilgrims 3 New pizzerias are set to open in Birmingham and Bristol, plus two more in Manchester Credit: Squaremeal Already well-established in King's Cross, London, the company is now expanding to major cities including Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol. The Birmingham branch will open in the busy Grand Central transport hub at New Street station. Manchester's new pizzeria will span two floors in Deansgate, featuring a Masterclass kitchen like the one in Canary Wharf. Pizza Pilgrims reported record revenue of £34.4m for the year ending June 2024 - a 20 percent increase on the previous year's £28.7 million. Advertisement Before special costs, the company made a profit of £2.9 million - up 21 percent from £2.4 million the year before. But Pizza Pilgrims posted a small loss of £100,000 after exceptional costs, mainly due to the closure of its Oxford site in January 2024. The chain said the Oxford pizzeria was closed as part of "a strategic decision to strengthen the overall portfolio". Domino's fans have compared the two pizza chains before, with some ranking Pizza Pilgrims higher. Advertisement One wrote on social media: "These [Pizza Pilgrims] create their pizzas using only the best ingredients. "Miles better than your nearest Dominos." Domino's axes pizza favourite and time running out for cost of living payments Pizza Pilgrims began in 2012 in a small pizza van in Soho, London, after the brothers completed a 30-stop "pizza pilgrimage" across Italy. The founders aimed to offer simple, authentic pizzas without overcomplicating the menu. Advertisement The brand specialises in Neapolitan-style pizza cooked in a traditional wood-fired oven. It comes as Domino's confirmed it had axed a handful of its popular pizzas from its UK menus. The fast food giant has said customers will no longer be able to buy three of their vegan pizza options. The Plant-Based American Hot, Plant-Based Peppy-roni and Plant-Based Chick'n Winner have been discontinued. Advertisement A spokesperson said: 'At Domino's, we're always tuning into what our customers want and updating our menu accordingly. "As part of this ongoing process, we're refining our plant-based pizza selection to spotlight the fan favourites that keep our customers coming back. "We remain committed to offering a tasty range of vegan options that caters to all tastes and preferences, making sure our customers always have plenty of delicious choices to enjoy.' 3 Pizza Pilgrims was founded in 2012 by brothers Thom and James Elliot Credit: Facebook / Pizza Pilgrims

Six NYC pizzerias were just named among the best pizza in the world
From Neapolitan-style rounds to classic dollar slices, New Yorkers take pizza very seriously. And, thankfully, so do the folks over at the Best Pizza Awards, a Europe-based awards body founded in 2015 by a Polish neuroscientist and an Italian gastronomist, which celebrates the "sacred" art of pizza-making and recognizes the world's top pizza chefs. Back for the third year, the 2025 awards ceremony took place yesterday, June 25 in Milan, Italy, with a global voting panel of 512 experts from 60 countries to "ensure transparency and eliminate commercial influence." And proving that said panel has exceptionally good taste, those 'za experts highlighted six New York pizza joints as some of the best in the world. Though the top three was, unsurprisingly, dominated by Italian pizzaiolos—Francesco Martucci of I Masanielli, Franco Pepe of Pepe in Grani and Gabriele Bonci of Pizzarium in Rome—this year's tasty selection also spotlighted NYC chefs like Anthony Mangieri of Una Pizza Napoletana (who previously appeared in the 2023 and 2024 installments, but hit a high of No. 17 this year), Mark Iacono of Lucali (No. 25), Wylie Dufresne of Stretch Pizza (No. 27), Massimo Laveglia of L'Industrie Pizza (No. 34), Giorgia Caporuscio of Don Antonio (No. 52) and Frank Tuttolomondo of Mama's TOO! (No. 95). L'Industrie's Massimo Laveglia was also singled out for a special award, for those who have excelled in specific areas of the craft: "The Best Street Pizza" in the world. Other specialty winners include Isabella De Cham for "The Best Fried Pizza," Ciccio Vitiello for "The Best Science Pizza" and Pier Daniele Seu for "The Best Pastry Pizza," all hailing from Italy. "This year's The Best Pizza Awards has captured the true spirit of pizza: timeless, yet constantly evolving; deeply rooted in tradition, yet always open to new ideas and innovations. Milan provided the perfect backdrop for this global celebration, a city that, like pizza itself, blends history and modernity at every turn," said Cristian Gadau, CEO of The Best Pizza Awards and The Best Chef Awards. "To witness the passion, dedication, and artistry of so many talented pizzaiolos gathered together has been profoundly inspiring. I am immensely proud of what our community continues to achieve and how these awards give a platform to those shaping the future of pizza worldwide." You can check out the full list of .

Crust Bros' Covent Garden branch will have space for 135 covers, and as well as serving up all manner of pizzas. The flagship will have a special menu of savoury bombas, including a lasagna-inspired take on the fried Italian dough ball, made with six hour ragu, parmesan, bechamel, and a deep fried lasagna sheet. Where to Eat & Drink Near Larger Nashville Music Venues
Share with your friends! Pinterest LinkedIn Email Flipboard Reddit Nashville music venues are aplenty. And as someone who frequents many live shows in and around Nashville, I've learned that the right pre- or post-concert spot can totally elevate my experience. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite before doors open or looking to keep the night going after the encore, here are some of my favorite hangouts near the city's larger music venues. Plus, most of these picks are within walking distance or just a short drive from the venue! Note: Prefer shows with a more low-key, club-like vibe? Stay tuned for a follow-up article featuring some of Music City's smaller (but equally iconic) venues and the best spots to pair with them. Bridgestone Arena + Ryman Auditorium Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman Auditorium are just steps apart, so many of these picks work for either venue. Choose based on your mood — or your artist's vibe.
