Ram Kapoor says he would have ‘1000% taken Mounjaro' but met with a ‘huge accident': ‘People take antibiotics when ill, how is this different?'
Ram Kapoor's drastic 55 kg weight loss transformation has become the talk of the town. The actor has been under scrutiny, with reports suggesting he used weight loss drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro. However, he has denied these claims multiple times. In a recent interview, Ram addressed the matter and questioned the negativity around the usage of such drugs. He also revealed he was ready to take Mounjaro as advised by his doctor but fate came in the way. During a conversation with Republic World, he said, 'Even if I have taken it, what's negative about it? Nobody is answering me this, galat kya kia hai agar kisi aadmi ne liya bhi hai? Everyone becomes silent because there is no answer for this. Ozempic, Mounjaro, whoever has taken these, what wrong have they done?' Clearly denying the usage himself, Ram asserted, 'I have not taken it. I was recommended Mounjaro, which came after Ozempic. When I was shooting for Neeyat with Vidya Balan in Scotland, I was at my most unhealthy state. I was big, at 140 kgs. I was taking insulin three times before every meal, my sugar was out of control, I was working overtime, no rest, my blood pressure, everything was unhealthy at that point of time.' The actor's health became a huge concern, after which his family doctor recommended the drug to him. 'My doctor told me that if you are this unhealthy and you are working this much, you can have a diabetic stroke. You will have to slow down. I said that I can't, I have two more projects to finish. After 6-8 months, maybe I can take a break. He then said that I am in a very big danger, I have to start something extreme to get yourself in control,' he revealed. ALSO READ | Ram Kapoor says he 'didn't have long to live' had he continued like he used to, doctor told him 'tu mar jayega' Ram Kapoor continued, 'He said everyone is taking Ozempic, but there's a new drug Mounjaro, listen to me and try it for 3-4 months because you are at risk. I said yes, please get it for me. It takes time to import such drugs and I was in Scotland for two and a half months. The decision was taken. I trust my doctor completely, even with my children's life.' However, even after giving a nod, he couldn't take the drug as he met with a huge accident. 'Before I could start, I had a very bad accident and I ruptured my shoulder. I had stage-3 surgery. In fact, when Mistry was offered to me, I was in full sling and cast. I said that I can't work for 8-9 months because surgery had just happened, they waited for me. You have to do hardcore physiotherapy after surgery to get the strength back,' he said. The actor had to take physiotherapy sessions and practice weight training everyday. 'They asked me to stop all drugs, take full physiotherapy and weight training to get back. Instead of Mounjaro, I was forced to do weight training. During that period, I developed a habit of doing it and I immersed myself in it. That is why I am doing it now and building my body. Zaroorat nahi padi Mounjaro ki otherwise I would have taken it 1000% because my doctor said so.' Ram believes that these weight loss drugs aren't a shortcut and compared them to taking antibiotics to cure infections. 'It is given by a doctor once a week. If the doctor is asking you to take it, would you say no? It is going to make you healthier. People say that it's a shortcut, not natural. When you are sick and go to the doctor for medicine, isn't that a shortcut? If you get an infection and you go take antibiotics so that it gets better in three days, isn't that a shortcut? Your body can easily treat the infection on your own in 3-4 weeks. Ozempic and Mounjaro are the same only,' he stated firmly. When asked about Shefali Jariwala's sudden death, despite maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle, he responded, 'It's a very sad news. But, this is not the first time. So many fit people around the world have cardiac arrest, even in the gym. It is a very common phenomenon. It's very simple, if you have a doctor whom you trust and he is asking you to eat something, you shouldn't overrule that.' On the work front, Ram Kapoor was recently seen in Jio Hotstar's show Mistry. Directed by Rishab Seth, the series also features Mona Singh, Shikha Talsania, Kshitish Date, and Namantar Rajendra.

Ram Kapoor says he ‘didn't have long to live' had he continued like he used to, doctor told him ‘tu mar jayega'
Actor Ram Kapoor opened up about his decision to get healthy, and said that he once weighed 140 kgs. The actor also addressed rumours that he has been using the controversial drug Ozempic, or one of its variants, and said that he hasn't. In an interview, Ram said that a stern warning from his doctor pushed him towards a healthy lifestyle, and revealed that he was told he wouldn't live long if he continued down the path he was on. He has now lost considerable weight, but was recently embroiled in a controversy over making inappropriate remarks during the press tour of his new show, Mistry. Appearing on Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast, he spoke about his drastic weight loss. 'Try maintaining a weight of 140 kgs, it's not easy,' he joked, as his co-star Mona Singh recalled memories of him eating an entire KFC bucket by himself. 'To become (thinner), you have to change your mindset completely. And when your mindset changes, every day you measure how much water you've had, how much you've slept, how much you've exercised,' he said. 'When I was shooting Neeyat in Scotland, I was at my worst. I was taking insulin shots thrice a day, before every meal. I was 140 kgs, and my sugar was at ridiculous heights. He said that he promised his son that he would start taking better care of himself when he turned 50, and he won't stop until he gets six-pack abs. 'When I started this journey, I said that I want to reach the peak of health. I want to be the best that I can be. I'm still a work in progress. I want to set the best example for my son. If I want him to be healthy, I have to be healthy.' Ram said that it was a risk to change his appearance so drastically, because audiences accepted him the way he was for 25 years. 'A doctor told me that I would have to start Ozempic or Monjaro because of the bad shape I was in. I would've had a diabetic stroke otherwise. If I had not gotten fit, I would have 100% taken it, because I trust my doctor. He looks after my entire family, he's a friend. He said, 'You have two options, you either change yourself, or tu mar jayega (you will die)'.' Ram Kapoor admitted to making inappropriate comments during the press tour for Mistry, and said that he wouldn't have spoken in an objectionable manner had he been told that it was wrong. Reacting to the controversy, his television colleague Sudhanshu Pandey said that making such statements is a sign of mental imbalance.
