‘Guard Dogs' Chase Off Bear in the Most Hilarious Way Imaginable
'Guard Dogs' Chase Off Bear in the Most Hilarious Way Imaginable originally appeared on PetHelpful. Sometimes bears and dogs get into it. And while a lot of our canine companions fancy themselves 'guard dogs,' the truth is that when it comes to fending off bears, they are not always up to the task. However, the dutiful canine siblings in this video are more than up to the task of protecting their house from a bear in the middle of the night. As you will see, these are some very creative hounds, and they have a unique and hilarious way of driving away the invading bear. It is well after 3 o'clock in the morning when these dogs are awoken by a frightening sound. Earlier that night, their human mama told them that the neighbors had been seeing bears around the neighborhood, so they needed to be extra careful that night when they went outside to do their business before going to bed. Naturally, these precious dogs were on edge after being woken up by something going bump in the night. Arming themselves with a wooden spatula and a bicycle helmet, they went to the back window to investigate. What they found was a black bear making a mess on their back deck and then going through their trash can. Wanting to get rid of this intruder, they devised a cunning plan. They opened the door, blasted a YouTube clip from a fake movie, Angels withFilthy Souls, which many will likely recognize from Home Alone, where a depression era gangster character that is the famous line, 'Keep the change, ya filthy animal,' after firing a Tommy bear, living in the wilderness, must have identified as an unclean animal and didn't want any trouble, especially when the gunshots from the YouTube clip started firing, and he ran off into the night. Quite comically, these dogs' human mama finally awoke after her precious 'guard dogs' had already driven away the bear. Naturally, she had no idea what had just happened and chastised her fur babies for opening the door in the middle of the night when people had been seeing bears around. If only she knew, LOL. Seriously, though, that was a top-notch canine video. It was pure cinema, as the kids like to say. As this other video shows, these dogs and their human mama are no strangers to making incredible videos. This plan, titled 'A Chip Standoff,' features a The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly-style showdown between a couple of hungry dogs after their human drops a Cheeto in the living room. With some impressive filmmaking and star-worthy canine charisma, both of these wildly entertaining videos are must-sees. Looking for more PetHelpful updates? Laguna Beach community takes in spiritual teachings around sand mandala
Throughout the past week, people who popped into the Neighborhood Congregational Church in Laguna Beach witnessed a ritual that was equal parts artistic and spiritual. Those who dropped by saw the delicate and detailed creation of a sand mandala, a Tibetan Buddhist tradition, carried out by monks from the Namgyal Monastery in Dharamshala. Dozens then showed up to witness the sand mandala dissolution, a ceremony during which the monks destroy that which they have created in a representation of the impermanence of life. Tenzin Wangdu Thokme, one of the monks that contributed to the sand mandala, gave a brief overview of the meaning and symbolism behind the ritual. Attention was given to an altar overlooking the sand mandala, which included a thangka painting of the founder of Buddhism. There was also an image of the Buddha of Compassion, as well as a picture of the 14th Dalai Lama, who turned 90 on July 6. 'The mandala, in essence, is a purified version of the environment and being in it — so the purification version of it,' Thokme said. 'In Buddhism, we believe that every sentient being can become awakened, or reach a state of awareness. Therefore, one can reach the state of awareness through practicing and through purifying oneself and through kind of training and overcoming all the delusions and ignorance and so forth.' The monks engaged in chanting prior to taking apart their sand mandala, pocketing portions of the colored sand into tiny sacks to be distributed among the attendees. The primary colors used within the mandala were white, green, blue, yellow and black, which Thokme said included directional representations and ties to body energy. A procession then moved from the church across South Coast Highway to Cleo Street Beach. Some followed the monks down the beach access stairs, while others chose to view the remainder of the ritual from above. 'We believe that sand is very blessed because during the visualization and the prayers, we have invited the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in our visualization, that they resided in this mandala and came and blessed … with their presence,' Thokme said. 'Therefore, this is blessed sand, and then we offer that to the ocean. 'Basically, what we believe, these elements like water, fire, wind, earth and so forth, it has its own spirit,' Thokme said. 'Therefore, taking this blessed sand to the water is to offer them, and it is requesting them to bring us a blessed environment,' he added. 'The environmental blessings have to come from nature, so we are offering this back to nature, so that we request them to bring the prosperity, goodness to the whole world and to humanity. That's the symbolism that we perform, and we do this in a prayer ceremony.' A monk was seen wading out into the shallows before dispersing the sand back among the waves. Rodrick Echols, the pastor of the Neighborhood Congregational Church, was on sabbatical. Sue Cross, board chair for the church, received and thanked the monks. 'We want to thank all of you for coming all this way from the Namgyal Monastery to honor us and bless us with your presence,' Cross said. 'We want to thank you for creating this beautiful, amazingly beautiful mandala. We want to thank you for your work in promoting peace, compassion and understanding. We hope that your travels will bring you back here again and that you will always think of this as a welcoming home.'

Baltimore neighborhood frustrated after pride flags taken down
Pride flags were forcibly taken down in a North Baltimore neighborhood as the community celebrated Pride Fest. Councilwoman Odette Ramos said at least three flags were torn down on Saturday, June 14, leaving many neighbors frustrated. Ramos said her home was among those targeted. Councilwoman's pride flag taken down After celebrating Baltimore Pride, Ramos said her husband noticed their pride flag was no longer flying on Saturday evening. They quickly realized it was intentional. Ramos found her flag on the ground, her flagpole bent and the bracket broken. "When I heard and then saw what happened, I was like on pride day," Ramos said. "It was forcibly taken down…we were able to salvage the flag." Ramos said she put out a call to other neighbors, who told her it not only happened on Saturday but other days last week. Flag removal comes after 2022 fire She said the community was frustrated that the flags were taken down. The incident comes three years after pride flags were burned in their neighborhood and a home with pride decorations was set on fire. "We're always a little concerned in my neighborhood in June because in 2022 there was a devastating fire," Ramos said. "The main house that was affected had a pride flag on it, and there were other pride flags that were burned that day, so obviously, there's a concern in the neighborhood." The pride flag was set on fire near a home on the 300 block of E. 31st Street. Then, a home across the street with pride decorations was set on fire, injuring three people. Neighbors react to removal of pride flags On Tuesday, many neighbors said they were upset and disappointed that their community was targeted again. "Why is the reaction hate and violence, and not oh okay," Abell neighborhood resident Kevin K. said. "[It's] very upsetting that it was happening during pride not knowing what the motivations are," neighborhood resident Stephanie Schreckinger added. Ramos said she and her neighbors plan to put their pride flags back up and fly them proudly as they always have. "We're a neighborhood that welcomes everyone," Ramos said. "We're going to put our pride flags back up because we feel very strongly about how we feel about our city and being allies to our neighbors." Ramos said she reported the incident to Baltimore Police and is encouraging neighbors to do the same. The community said they hope whoever did this can learn to choose love over hate.

Ms. Rachel and Olivia Munn: The ‘violent' threats and drama, explained
YouTube kids entertainer Ms. Rachel is making it clear that she doesn't have any drama with Olivia Munn following the actor's comments about her children's content. Munn sparked backlash earlier this week from Ms. Rachel fans after she told People magazine that she doesn't let her children watch the popular YouTuber's videos. In response, Ms. Rachel said that she would rather people focus on her advocacy work than try to pit two women against each other to start an internet feud. After the interview was published, Munn began to receive 'violent and threatening comments and messages,' according to her husband, John Mulaney. So, what's the real story behind the drama between Munn and Ms. Rachel? How did we get here? In a recent interview with People, which has since been removed from the website, Munn admitted she isn't a fan of Ms. Rachel's content and doesn't let her children, Malcolm, 3, and Mei, 8 months, tune in. Story continues below advertisement 'I know kids love [Ms. Rachel], but the thing is, if I can't watch it, I'm not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy,' Munn told the outlet. 'These kid shows drive me crazy.' Munn said her son Malcolm is a new fan of Blue's Clues, a popular children's show where an animated puppy helps find clues to something the host is trying to figure out. 'Malcolm asked for Blue's Clues [recently], and I don't know who showed him Blue's Clues, but they are on my s— list now. I said, 'Hell no. Not in my house,'' she said. Munn said the only show she likes to watch at home is Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood because it helped Malcolm adjust to becoming a big brother. 'Daniel Tiger has a little sister, and we'd tell him, 'There's a baby sister coming,'' she added. She also said her husband got Malcolm into 'the Spider-Man cartoons, which is not interesting to me.' Story continues below advertisement 'I put on Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming and was like, 'If you want to watch the real-life ones, then we can watch that,' she said. 'It might be a little too old for him, but I can't take the cartoons.' What backlash did Munn receive? Shortly after the interview was published, Ms. Rachel fans began to criticize Munn for her comments, with some naysayers calling her a 'self-centred parent' in a Reddit thread. 'What a miserable way to parent a child. I understand that there are some shows (Cocomelon is one) that are both annoying and do nothing to promote learning, but Ms. Rachel? Blue's Clues?? Ma'am. Maybe you shouldn't have had a kid if you didn't want to actually raise that child and let them have childish interests. This is an extremely selfish take,' one user wrote. 'Olivia Munn has so many takes that age horribly. Add this to the list. It's not so bad, it's just a weird thing to be proud of. Feels like insecurity — 'I'm not like a regular mom, I'm a cool mom!' vibe about being too cool to see your son watch Blues Clues is deeply silly lol,' another Reddit user wrote. Story continues below advertisement What was Ms. Rachel's response? Ms. Rachel, who has more than 15 million subscribers on YouTube, responded to Munn's comments by sharing a screenshot of the article on Instagram and stating that she would rather have media outlets highlight her political advocacy. 'WHO CARES?! I'd rather you cover me advocating for kids in Gaza who are literally starving, largest cohort of child amputees in modern history, thousands & thousands killed — no medical care, no education, no homes… do better!!!' she wrote in the now-deleted Instagram post. '***Not against [Munn] at all and don't care that she doesn't want to watch the show — all my love to her and her family — disappointed in the outlets.' In the screenshots shared by Ms. Rachel, she included her comments under the Instagram posts from Parents magazine and People, writing, 'I'd rather you cover my advocacy for kids in Gaza.' I never anticipated the media would single out one small thing I said and distort it like they have.' Story continues below advertisement The Buddy Games actor said her comments were not meant to 'diminish the joy, comfort and impact' Ms. Rachel brings to families. 'Every parent understands the importance of finding meaningful programming that helps us connect with our kids. I don't want something taken out of context to be a moment that steals even a minute of joy for anyone,' she added. View image in full screen A screenshot of Olivia Munn's Instagram Stories. @OliviaMunn / Instagram Meanwhile, People took down its initial interview with Munn, adding an editor's note to the page following the backlash. 'On June 11, we took the unusual step of removing the post titled 'Olivia Munn Doesn't Let Her Kids Watch Ms. Rachel. Here's Why,' due to the violent threats that escalated towards the interview subject and her family. There is no excuse for these abhorrent attacks, and we will always prioritize safety above all else,' the note read. Story continues below advertisement John Mulaney steps in to defend wife Olivia Munn After Munn's apology, she still continued to receive backlash and her husband, comedian and actor Mulaney, stepped in to issue his own statement. 'An innocent comment my wife Olivia Munn made about what children's programs we like has somehow — unbelievably — been conflated with not caring about the deaths of children in Gaza,' he wrote. 'Because of this, my wife and my two kids are now receiving violent and threatening comments and messages in her DMs.' View image in full screen (L-R) Olivia Munn and John Mulaney attend An Unforgettable Evening benefiting the Women's Cancer Research Fund at The Beverly Hilton on April 28, 2025 in Beverly Hills, Women's Cancer Research Fund Mulaney called the backlash 'absolutely insane' and said it 'needs to stop.' 'The people doing this are so wildly out of line and so unhelpful to any conversation,' he added. 'You took a nothing comment to a dark and dangerous place. Story continues below advertisement 'This kind of behavior isn't activism.' A screenshot of John Mulaney's Instagram Stories. @JohnMulaney / Instagram Ms. Rachel tells fans to 'be kind' to Munn and her family After Mulaney shared his statement, Ms. Rachel shared another post on Instagram asking her followers to 'be kind' to Munn and 'her precious family.' 'I don't believe in hate, attacks or hurtful comments. As I said in my first post, this isn't about her,' Ms. Rachel wrote. 'It was that I scroll & see stories that don't matter while seeing that children's immeasurable suffering is being ignored – it breaks me. 'Also I know some outlets would love to cover a feud between two women, but guess what? That doesn't exist. Her and I have been in touch and we are both choosing kindness.' Story continues below advertisement In her caption, the famous YouTuber wrote, 'This isn't happening but I also am not for canceling people who make mistakes. (She just shared an opinion which is fine.) We all make mistakes and struggle and misspeak and do beautiful, kind things because it's hard to be a human. It's really hard.' For now, it looks like the 'drama' has come to an end.
