Wednesday bosses tease one star will see 'new powers' in Season 2

Wednesday season 2 is just weeks away and bosses have given fans a glimpse at what they can expect Wednesday bosses have teased that one star will see evolving new powers ahead on the brand new season. ‌ Wednesday enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the much-anticipated second series of the beloved programme. It's been an extensive three years for audiences since Wednesday first mesmerised viewers globally. ‌ With its innovative approach to the Addams Family world, the first series witnessed Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) adjusting to her fresh existence at Nevermore Academy, an institution for supernatural outcasts. From lycanthropes to blood-suckers, the academy encountered everything. ‌ Despite originally being a loner, Wednesday quickly became a vital part Nevermore and discovered herself caught up in her own huge investigation. And Wednesday, series 2 is merely weeks away, guaranteeing more intricate and sinister plotlines. Now, Wednesday executives have spoken candidly about Pugsley, whom supporters will witness more of this series. Pugsley Addams is Wednesday's younger sibling. ‌ Programme creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have tantalized fans with what they can anticipate. Pugsley is destined to be accepted to Nevermore as a pupil himself, but only time will reveal how Wednesday will take the news. Alfred Gough hinted: "One of the things we learned in Season 1 is how much people love the Addams family, and there really isn't a lot of Addams family lore that exists. We love having the open playing field of creating the Addams family myth and delving deeper, so we wanted to bring them to Nevermore." He further commented: "Also, Pugsley's come as a student, so now Wednesday has to deal with her younger brother being here. And as Miles said, there's a lot of family secrets that start to get uncovered." ‌ Gough confessed that Wednesday is "not feeling great about the idea", adding: "I don't think anybody really wants their little brother with them at school. Pugsley is somebody who's always struggled to make and have friends. He didn't have any friends in Normie school and that's what he really wants." A "socially awkward" Pugsley finds himself "trying very hard" but ends up sharing a room with Eugene (Moosa Mostafa). However, things don't go as planned, as Pugley soon finds himself raising a zombie. Gough explained: "He's also rooming with Eugene (Moosa Mostafa), who's cool now because he helped save the school. Then, of course, in a typical Addams scenario, Pugsley finds a friend by ultimately raising a zombie." Tim Burton himself described Pugsley as an "outcast among outcasts", stating: ". He comes into Nevermore for the first time, so we get to see his beautiful experience at school. Everybody has their own specialty power, and he's new to his own. He's just exploring his newfound teenage powers."

'The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts as our most popular English language TV show, and sparking cultural trends,' she said in a statement. 'We are so proud of Al Gough, Miles Millar, Tim Burton, Jenna Ortega, and the entire Wednesday cast and crew for everything they've accomplished. 'We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.' 'We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3,' Millar added. In a statement, Gough and Millar elaborated on some other expected themes. 'This time, [Wednesday] will unearth more of the school's sinister secrets—and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt,' they shared. 'Or, as Wednesday would say: 'Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.'' But if you're looking for specific plot details or casting announcements, you'll have to wait a bit longer. 'Sure [I could tell you],' said Millar, 'but then I'd have to bury you in a shallow grave.' Possibly! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Wednesday team is discussing the possibility of a spinoff. 'It's something we're definitely noodling,' Gough said. 'There are other characters we can look at.' Bajaria agreed: 'There's a lot to explore in the Addams Family,' she said. This story will be updated.

Netflix just renewed ‘Wednesday' for season 3 — and there could be a spinoff

It's almost time to return to Nevermore, and Netflix is already looking even further ahead. With' Wednesday' season 2 just two weeks away, the streamer has wasted no time confirming that the macabre misadventures of Wednesday Addams are far from over. A third season has officially been greenlit, and if that wasn't enough for fans of the deadpan icon, there's even talk of a spinoff series set within the same spooky universe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While exact details are still under wraps, co-creator Alfred Gough teased that the 'Wednesday' team is 'definitely noodling' with ideas. Bela Bajaria, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, echoed that intrigue, hinting: 'There's a lot to explore in the Addams Family.' Whether that means we'll see more of the other family members or perhaps dive into someone new entirely, it's clear that this world is expanding. The early renewal comes as no surprise given the massive success of the first season, which broke viewership records and turned Jenna Ortega into a full-blown cultural phenomenon. With gothic flair, murder mysteries and a killer dance scene that went viral, 'Wednesday' clearly hit all the right notes and anticipation is sky-high for what's next. Ortega also offered a few words on season 2 when speaking with The Hollywood Reporter: 'Netflix has a lot more trust this time around. So we were able to do things on a grander scale and were able to spend more time on sequences. There are also a lot of new cast members like Steve Buscemi and Billie Piper, and doing a scene with them pushes you further because they're so gifted.' As for how long 'Wednesday' might continue, director Tim Burton isn't one to think too far ahead. 'I don't think that way,' he said when asked about the show's potential lifespan. 'You're talking to two of the worst people to ask that question.' Still, given the show's success and the franchise potential, it's clear Netflix sees this as more than just a passing phase.
