Fire flattens sawmill in New Ross, N.S.
A sawmill in New Ross, N.S., was destroyed in a fire. (Source: Bill Roberts) A sawmill in New Ross, N.S., has been destroyed by a fire. The fire broke out around 5 p.m. on Thursday at L.E. Elliott Lumber on New Russell Road, said an official with the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters from four different stations responded to the fire, including New Ross, Kentville, Chester Basin and Western Shore. New Ross Fire said crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby woods, There is no word yet on the cause of the fire. Multiple fire departments battle blaze at New Ross lumber mill
Fire departments are at the scene of a blaze at a lumber mill in New Ross, N.S. Firefighter Bryce Keddy with the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department says the fire was called in around 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Four departments are working to battle the blaze at L.E. Elliott Lumber on New Russell Road, including Kentville, Chester Basin and Western Shore. Keddy says there is no information so far about how large the fire is. He also says no injuries have been reported.
