Egypt: EGPC unveils results of inspection campaign at fuel stations
Arab Finance: The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) announced the results of its periodic inspection campaign of the petroleum products trading and distribution system, according to a statement. Conducted by the Central Committee for the Control of Petroleum Products Circulation, the campaign took place during the third week of July and covered 26 gas stations in 14 governorates. In the New Valley Governorate, the authority seized a fuel station over collecting large quantities of diesel and gasoline, amounting to 15,700 liters, for illegal disposal, with a fine of EGP 471,000. Moreover, the committee has taken legal action against a diesel tanker driver, as he was caught red-handed on the Abu Zekry axis in Alexandria selling illegal quantities of diesel fuel. The campaign also uncovered tampering with the calibration of nine fuel nozzles at four stations. They were seized in preparation for proper recalibration of the fuel pumps by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS). Also, the authority discovered water in a diesel tank at one station and took action immediately to disinfect the tank and ensure the safety of citizens' vehicles. The committee observed several violations at some fuel stations related to safe operating procedures, which resulted in a lack of awareness among employees about the risks of certain operational behaviors, such as smoking inside the station or refueling vehicles while the engine is running. In this regard, stations were required to adhere to safe operating regulations, informing workers about these procedures to ensure the safety of customers and themselves as well. Meanwhile, specialized training programs are being developed for fuel station workers in cooperation with the training centers of the sector's companies. Other programs are also being implemented for fuel depot and tanker truck inspection workers to raise awareness and ensure compliance with safety standards. © 2025 All Rights Reserved Arab Finance For Information Technology Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Governor of New Valley Mohamed Al-Zamlout witnessed the signing of final contracts to begin implementation of the industrial complex for phosphoric acid production at Abu Tartur Plateau, according to a statement. The signing of the agreements took place at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC). It aligns with the government's strategy to maximize the economic return from Egypt's mineral wealth. The Chinese consortium CSCEC Egypt will build the industrial complex. The complex is set to be one of the largest industrial projects aimed at enhancing the added value of Egyptian mineral resources, specifically phosphate ore. The project will see a total investment of $658 million. It supports the state's policy of directing industrial development toward promising regions, ensuring optimal utilization of mineral resources, accelerating investment in southern Egypt, and securing real and sustainable job opportunities for local residents. © 2020-2023 Arab Finance For Information Technology. Egypt signs $658mln construction deal for phosphoric acid project
Egypt has signed final contracts that will pave way the commencement of construction works on the $658 million Phosphoric Acid Complex Project in the Western Desert. This marks a major step in Egypt's push to shift from raw mineral exports to high-value industrial processing, the Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry said. The project is located at Abu Tartur Plateau in the New Valley Governorate and will use domestically sourced phosphate ore to produce 250,000 tonnes per year of high-grade phosphoric acid in its first phase. 'This is a historic move that will enable us to shift from exporting raw materials to launching an integrated industrial value chain,' Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawy said 'It symbolises the third pillar of our strategy which outlines maximising returns from mineral wealth,' he added. The deal was signed with a Chinese consortium that comprises of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and East China Engineering Science and Technology Co. (ECEC). According to Valley Governor Mohammed El-Zamlout, the project is a 'turning point' for the New Valley which is Egypt's largest governorate by area but has been overlooked in terms of industrial development. 'This project will be a key aspect in transforming the region into a strategic hub for mining-based industries,' he said. (Writing by Nadim Kawach; Editing by Anoop Menon) (

Petrojet, ENPPI approve participation in Egypt's New Valley phosphoric acid plant
Egypt - The General Assemblies of Petrojet and Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI) have approved participation in financing and implementing a phosphoric acid production plant on the Abu Tartur Plateau in Egypt's New Valley, as per a statement. The two assemblies also approved the signing of the shareholders' framework agreement and all related contracts to begin project execution. The plant's first phase will have an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons, with Petrojet and ENPPI among the participating shareholders. Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi highlighted the strategic value of the project. Calling it a national initiative, the minister said that it aims to maximize the added value of Egypt's phosphate resources by converting raw phosphate into a finished product. He emphasized that the project supports Egypt's goal of becoming a regional hub for mining industries. This project is also aligned with state priorities to raise the mining sector's contribution to gross national product (GNP) from less than 1% to between 5% and 6% in the near term. © 2020-2023 Arab Finance For Information Technology.
