I wish Bethesda didn't make Fallout and The Elder Scrolls - Reader's Feature

A reader is frustrated at the slow progress on The Elder Scrolls 6 and a new Fallout and wishes that Bethesda would work more closely with other developers. I feel there are a lot of love/hate relationships in gaming. Where you love the games but, if not hate, at least feel exhausted having to put up with the nonsense of the company making. Even Nintendo is kind of like this, with all their weird ways of doing things, but at the end of the day they make great games, so everyone lets it slide. For me though the big problem is Bethesda. I love Skyrim and Fallout, but I swear they must be the slowest, most backwards company in the whole of gaming. There was a story this week about how there are a bunch of new Fallout games on the way, including New Vegas 2, and all I could think is I hope that Bethesda don't have anything to do with them. I know how weird that sounds, considering they're the ones that created the franchises (well, not Fallout but the modern first person ones) but I think it's pretty obvious by now that they have not moved with the times and you don't even need Starfield to tell you that. I don't want to harp on about Starfield, because I feel everything that could be said about it already has been, but I think the most important thing to note is that for something that was meant to be a graphical step forward it was the smallest baby step possible. More importantly, the gameplay didn't do anything new at all. Not only that but it purposefully undermined one of the best bits about Bethesda games, in terms of their open world design. This makes me very worried about The Elder Scrolls 6, because Bethesda seems to hate negative feedback and always does everything to talk themselves out of it. And if they do react it's by the smallest degree possible, as in Starfield's graphics. How much this has to do with Todd Howard I don't know but he does seem to have an unhealthy amount of influence. If it wasn't because he wanted to direct it, we would have already had Fallout 5 by now. But instead, they've been caught empty handed after the Fallout show hit it big and are now going to end up relying on other developers anyway. And what if they do a better job, as Obsidian did with New Vegas? Todd's probably going to get all funny about it again, because there's no way he doesn't feel bitter about how much love New Vegas gets. If they were sensible, they should've had a sequel to that 10 years ago. Heck, they probably should've bought Obsidian (not that that would've made much different now Microsoft owns them both). I hesitate to say this, given the layoffs at Microsoft at the moment – which I am totally against – but I really do feel the old guard needs to be removed from Bethesda, or at least put in a purely supervisory role, so that we can get some forward momentum here. In terms of their first party studios, their best games are all over a decade ago and the one big one they've done since then, was heavily criticised for being old-fashioned. Heck, so was Fallout 4 for that matter. I think what's maybe most worrying for Bethesda is I don't see when there's going to be any change. Everything's gone quiet on Starfield (what happened to one expansion per year?) and The Elder Scrolls 6 doesn't seem any closer now than in the last 15 years. I hate to say it but I'd rather other developers took over the Fallout franchise entirely. It's probably too late for The Elder Scrolls 6 now, but at the very least commission the Elder Scrolls equivalent of New Vegas and see what another team can do with the franchise. More Trending Bethesda leaders, whether that's Todd Howard or whoever, have got to get themselves into gear and embrace current day technology and standards. Because if their next game is another Starfield style disaster then we all know what Microsoft's response is going to be to that… By reader Koban The reader's features do not necessarily represent the views of GameCentral or Metro. Walton Goggins is Back in New Teasers for Fallout Season 2

Walton Goggins has been having a stellar run the past few months with The White Lotus and The Righteous Gemstones , and now he's set to come back to the Wasteland as the Ghoul in the next season of Fallout . Thanks to Amazon Upfront, we have a bunch of new promos for the series including some mock-ads with Goggins' Cooper Howard as well as a teaser for the Ghoul and Lucy (Ella Purnell) arriving at New Vegas. Check this out: It's also been confirmed that the series is expected to premiere this December. With Fallout Season 1 premiering last year, it's kind of surprise that we're going to get the follow-up this year. With The Last of Us and Rings of Power taking several years inbetween seasons, it's great to have a high-budget sci-fi show actually consistently release a new season yearly. So far, we know that Lucy and the Ghoul have teamed up to go after Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan) who has been revealed to be part of the brain trust that caused the Nuclear War that destroyed the Earth. We don't know how much of New Vegas is going to be the setting, but fans know that place is going to be filled with all kinds of kooky characters and factions—plus some messed up Vaults with all kinds of experiments inside them. As for Maximus (Aaron Moten), it's kind of hinted that he's going to be promoted within the Brotherhood of Steel, and it's possible they could be coming to New Vegas as well and this could be Max's chance to run into Lucy again. Catch the second season of Fallout when it comes to Amazon Prime Video this December. Hopefully we can expect the third season by 2026 as well.

FALLOUT Renewed for Season 3 Ahead of Season 2's Big Debut in December — GeekTyrant

Prime Video has officially greenlit Fallout for a third season, and it comes before before Season 2 even premieres this December. That's a big move, but considering Season 1 was a huge hit and pulled in over 100 million viewers and landed in the top three most-watched titles on the platform, it's not hard to see why Amazon is all-in on the wasteland. Season 2 is set to pick up right after the explosive Season 1 finale and will take viewers deeper into the scorched Mojave Desert and eventually into the iconic city of New Vegas, which is a major location from the Fallout: New Vegas game that fans have been hoping to see brought to life. Ella Purnell stars as Lucy MacLean, a chipper vault-dweller thrust into the brutal post-apocalyptic world after her father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) is kidnapped by raiders. She crosses paths with a Brotherhood of Steel soldier named Maximus (Aaron Moten), and a terrifying bounty hunter known only as the Ghoul, played by Walton Goggins, who used to be Vault-Tec's own Cooper Howard before the bombs dropped. By the end of Season 1, Lucy and her brother Norm (Moises Arias) uncover a horrifying truth about their father's role in the apocalypse, the Ghoul gets a lead on his pre-war family, and Maximus earns a knight promotion within the Brotherhood. As things splinter and the world gets even more unpredictable, Lucy and the Ghoul team up to track down Vault-Tec's top brass, while Hank heads to New Vegas. Vernon Sanders, global head of television at Amazon MGM Studios sahred in a statement: 'We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of 'Fallout.' 'Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video. Together with our amazing partners at Bethesda Games and Bethesda Softworks, we are delighted to announce a third season of 'Fallout,' well ahead of the much-anticipated debut of Season Two.' The show's high quality in storytelling hasn't gone unnoticed either as it picked up Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama for Goggins, and Writing for Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner. Nolan and Joy, known for their work on Westworld , continue to executive produce under Kilter Films, with Robertson-Dworet and Wagner steering the ship as showrunners.

Fallout's second season premieres in December and will be followed by a third

Get ready for more Fallout. The second season of the hit Prime Video show will premiere in December, and the show has already been renewed for a third, Variety reports. The second season will 'pick up in the aftermath of Season One's epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas,' according to a description included in Variety. Production wrapped on the season last week. There's no word on when the third season might premiere. Hopefully the early renewal means we'll see it sooner rather than later. The first season was excellent, and as my colleague Ash Parrish wrote, it got the postapocalyptic vibes exactly right. Fingers crossed that the second season keeps up the quality of the first – I'll be clearing some time during the holiday season to watch the new episodes.

Fallout Season 2 Coming in December and Season 3 Is a Go

Fallout is going beyond New Vegas. Monday, Prime Video announced that season two of the hit video game adaptation is debuting in December 2025, and that it will be followed by a third season too. 'The holidays came a little early this year—we are thrilled to be ending the world all over again for a third season of Fallout,' executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy said in a press release. 'On behalf of our brilliant cast and crew, our showrunners Geneva [Robertson-Dworet] and Graham [Wagner], and our partners at Bethesda, we're grateful to our incredible collaborators at Amazon MGM Studios and to the amazing fans as we continue our adventures in the wasteland together.' Season one of the show ended with Lucy (Ella Purnell) and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) teaming up to attempt to find the leaders of Vault-Tec, the company responsible for everyone's favorite Fallout chambers, which also just so happened to cause the apocalyptic event that led to their use. And all signs point to that happening in New Vegas, one of the most notable locations from the hit video game series. 'We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout,' Vernon Sanders, global head of television for Amazon MGM, said. 'Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video. Together with our amazing partners at Bethesda Games and Bethesda Softworks, we are delighted to announce a third season of Fallout, well ahead of the much-anticipated debut of season two.' It will have been about a year and a half between seasons when season two debuts, so a 2027 premiere seems likely for season three. Will things go beyond that? I guess we'll find out once we see where season two goes. Are you excited to return to the world of Fallout? What game stories would you like to see adapted?
