King Kapisi on the Pasifika artists who helped shape NZ music
Pacific music about 1 hour ago Many of you will already be familiar with AudioCulture - it's an ever-evolving online archive of New Zealand's music history. Well last month they dropped 'The Pacific Music Collection', which celebrates music made in Aotearoa by artists with Pacific heritage. One of the contributors to this collection was Silver Scroll Award-winning hip-hop artist King Kapisi. He talks to Jesse about the artists who have helped shape the sound of Aotearoa.

Fat Freddy's drop founder Chris 'Mu' Faiumu dies
A pioneer of the New Zealand music scene has died. Chris Ta'aloga Faiumu, also known as DJ Mu or Fitchie, was a founder of the band Fat Freddy's Drop. The biggest names in New Zealand's music industry walked the red carpet at the Viaduct Events Centre, including Lorde who arrived after surprising fans with a new music video. The celebration of New Zealand's best talent follows Lorde's surprise pop-up concert from a toilet cubicle at the Auckland central YMCA last night. Watch Aotearoa Music Awards 2025 live: Stars arrive on the red carpet
Grammy-award winning Kiwi singer Lorde, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, told fans at her exclusive YMCA party last night she was in town for the Aotearoa Music Awards, which will be livestreamed on RNZ from 6pm. The biggest names in New Zealand's music industry are set to arrive on the red carpet at the Viaduct Events Centre from about 4.30pm. Among the expected guests are Anna Coddington, CHAII, Kaylee Bell, Lorde, MOKOTRON , Stan Walker, Tami Neilson and Troy Kingi. Persian-New Zealand rapper CHAII and Walker are leading the pack with five nominations each. This year marks the 60th anniversary of music awards in New Zealand.
