Cargo airline boosts racing
TDT | Manama Texel Air has renewed its gold sponsorship of the Bahrain Turf Series for another three seasons, cementing its role in powering Bahrain's equestrian ambitions through specialised air cargo support. The agreement was signed in the United Kingdom during the Newmarket July Festival, which saw Bahrain sponsor all three Group races on the card. The deal extends Texel Air's partnership with the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Court of the Crown Prince and Chairman of the Club's High Committee. Strategic support Yusuf Buheji, Chief Executive Officer of REHC, called the renewed sponsorship a strategic collaboration that aligns with Bahrain's aspirations to become a global hub for horseracing. 'Texel Air's continued support reflects a shared belief in the potential of racing in the Kingdom,' Buheji said. 'Partnerships like this are vital to the sport's growth and to positioning Bahrain as an international racing destination.' He also noted Texel's broader contributions to Bahrain's logistics sector and expressed confidence in the sustained impact of the partnership over the next three seasons. Aligned ambitions George Chisholm, Executive Director of Texel Air, described the sponsorship as a natural fit, given the airline's growing focus on equine transportation. 'The Bahrain Turf Series has made impressive strides over the past four years. We are proud to support its continued growth,' Chisholm said. 'This partnership highlights our commitment to national sectors like sport and reinforces our dedication to the Kingdom's broader ambitions.' He added that Texel Air's role in transporting horses and equipment across borders makes it uniquely positioned to contribute to the success of international racing events in Bahrain. Rising profile Launched in 2021, the Bahrain Turf Series has quickly gained global recognition, attracting entries from leading racing nations during Bahrain's winter season. Alongside events such as the Bahrain International Trophy and the King's Cup, the series anchors Bahrain's international racing calendar. Texel Air, a Bahrain-based cargo airline and MRO provider, plays a critical role in supporting the logistical backbone behind the country's sporting and economic ambitions. The renewed deal highlights how aviation and equestrian sectors are working in tandem to advance Bahrain's global standing in both logistics and sport.

Horse racing tips: ‘Everything sets up perfectly for her' – Templegate's 5-2 NAP runs for a red-hot trainer
TEMPLEGATE takes on Friday's racing confident of smashing in some more winners on day two of Newmarket's July Festival. Back a horse by clicking their odds below. CINDERELLA'S DREAM (3.35 Newmarket, nap) She was far from disgraced when second in the Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot on the back of an impressive Dahlia win on the Rowley Mile. She didn't have enough time up the short straight to hit top gear and that's not a problem today. ENDLESS VICTORY (3.00 Newmarket, nb) He put in one of the better runs from a Charlie Appleby horse at Royal Ascot. He was too far back before coming home like a train into second. He has more to come over staying trips and will hopefully start his run a bit earlier this time. SAYIDAH DARIYAN (2.45 York, treble) She stormed home for fourth in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and could take a step forward again. That performance was no fluke and this Group 3 looks a good opening for a rapidly progressive filly. With pace to aim at and conditions in her favour, she's hard to fault. NEWMARKET 1.50 URBAN GLIMPSE looks the right one. He's been in fine form and was just edged out at York last time, staying on strongly over a similar trip, and this stiffer finish could play to his strengths. King's Charter looks a threat under William Buick. He takes a big step up from his novice win at Doncaster but that looked a decent contest and he's respected. Kurakka is going for a hat-trick after dominating from the front at Haydock but he may lack a bit of pace at this level. War Hawk did well to score at Epsom despite traffic problems and the booking of Ryan Moore takes the eye. Regalian keeps hitting the frame and may find one too good again. 2.25 VENETIAN SUN is a skinny price but she'll shine again. She couldn't have been any more impressive when winning the Albany on her second start at Royal Ascot. We know this trip and decent ground are ideal and there's more to come. Spicy Marg and Shine On Me both come here after running well in the Queen Mary with improvement to come. The latter could be the pick of the pair given how sharply she came home. Moving up to 6f could unlock more from both of them. Mood Queen and Royal Fixation both won novice contests well but need a fair bit more. Argentine Tango was a Listed winner here latest so we know the trip suits and she could hit the frame. 3.00 ENDLESS VICTORY put in one of the better runs from a Charlie Appleby horse at Royal Ascot. He was too far back before coming home like a train into second. He has more to come over staying trips and will hopefully start his run a bit earlier this time. Dancing In Paris was a good second in the Northumberland Plate and is a big threat if this isn't coming too soon. We know stamina isn't an issue. Insanity put a few modest runs behind him when winning at Ayr and is dangerous if still in the groove. Real Dream scored at Listed level last time and a repeat of that gives each-way hopes. Story Horse likes it here and is another with place prospects. 3.35 CINDERELLA'S DREAM was far from disgraced when second in the Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot on the back of an impressive Dahlia win on the Rowley Mile. She didn't have enough time up the short straight to hit top gear and that's not a problem today. Crimson Advocate showed good pace to beat the tip last time with Ascot suiting better. This long straight may not be so helpful. January gets weight off them and went close in the Coronation. She can't be ignored. Elmalka is a Guineas winner so will enjoy the track and put in a fair effort in France last time. She needs to step up to score. Elwateen didn't handle Epsom last time and could nick third. 2.10 DUBAI TREASURE looks well ahead of this standard. Saeed Bin Suroor's lightly raced filly made it two from two this term with ease at Lingfield on handicap debut. The handicapper was watching and has booted her up 10lb but she looks potentially better than a handicapper. Fortamour keeps knocking on the door at this level and has run well here before. Sword was a good winner at Leicester last month before another good run when hampered at Haydock last time. He's a big danger. Streets of Gold is another of interest if building on a solid first run for Julie Camacho. Fifty Nifty is still 6lb above his last win but has his sights lowered plenty here which could help. Physique ran well at Newmarket last time and likes this tricky trip. He's not won for a while but could make the frame, while Talis Evolvere was back to form at Newcastle 13 days ago. 2.45 SAYIDAH DARIYAN stormed home for fourth in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and could take a step forward again. That performance was no fluke and this Group 3 looks a good opening for a rapidly progressive filly. With pace to aim at and conditions in her favour, she's hard to fault. Electric Storm looks a danger with her ability to lay up with the speed and her Group 2 form reading well. If she grabs an early position, she'll be hard to pass. First Instinct has been mixing it at Group 2 level and is a strong-finishing type who could run into the frame. Nighteyes posted a huge run in the Jubilee and goes well here but her sluggish starts are a worry. If Celandine is fully tuned after 286 days off, her Lowther winning form puts her in the each-way picture. OPERA BALLO (4.45 Newmarket, nb) He got his career firmly back on track when winning a Listed contest at Sandown last time. He relishes this mile trip and looks well ahead of this standard. Advertisement MAXIMIZED (2.25 Newmarket, treble) He has done little wrong in winning both starts and improved at Epsom last time. He likes this trip and looks well up to this Group 2 standard. Templegate's verdicts for the ITV1 action 1.50 Advertisement FURTHUR can go one better after a power-packed second in the Queen's Vase, shaping like a proper stayer and relishing the step up in trip. With Oisin Murphy back aboard and a weak pace predicted, he may prove hard to peg back if allowed to dictate matters from near the front. Hallelujah U caught the eye finishing off well in the Queen's Vase and is a serious player if he continues that upward curve. Scandinavia wasn't far behind either and will be suited by a more searching gallop but this small field may again find him out if they crawl early. Comical Point shapes as though this move up a furlong will help after a decent fourth in the Norfolk last time. Trainer Andrew Balding is in excellent form. Advertisement Jel Pepper won a decent maiden at Goodwood and clocked a solid enough time. This is much hotter but there's more to come. Zavateri didn't have a lot to beat at Salisbury and will have to raise his game in this company. 3.00 Advertisement ZAYER caught the eye when coming home quickly to finish fourth in the Palace Of Holyrood at Royal Ascot last time. Hucklesbrook had a bit in hand when scoring at York 26 days ago and relishes this trip. Advertisement An 8lb rise gives him more to do but the booking of Ryan Moore takes the eye. Double Rush was third in that Knavesmire race from what turned out to be a poor draw. He could be a fair bit closer today. Crestofdistinction was an impressive winner at Wolverhampton last time and would have each-way claims if repeating that back on turf. Invictus enjoyed himself on the Rowley course here last time when winning with plenty to spare. Advertisement An 11lb rise for that is harsh but he should be competitive again as should dual winner Tawasol who likes this trip. 3.35 GHOSTWRITER ran a good race in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot last time and was gaining on winner Rebel's Romance at the line. This is clearly a weaker race over a trip that suits and he can repay another slice of his £2m fee to Amo Racing. TEMPLEGATE'S TIPS Horse racing tips: 'He looks sure to score at his beloved track' – Templegate's NAP unstoppable on Tuesday Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) TEMPLEGATE tackles Tuesday's action confident of building the bank for the Newmarket July Festival. Back a horse by clicking their odds below. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up TIME PATROL (7.12 Brighton, nap) He can notch up yet another win at his beloved Brighton. Tony Carroll's five-year-old has landed three victories from four visits to the seaside and came home quickly when just denied here last time. The handicapper has left his mark alone and he takes a drop in class which can get him back to winning ways. He gets on well with today's rider Jack Doughty and decent ground is ideal. CRYSTAL MER (8.30 Uttoxeter, nb) He looked a cut above when bolting up over course and distance last month and can strike again under champion jockey Sean Bowen. The six-year-old powered clear with loads in hand that day and still looks well treated for Hughie Morrison who rarely misses when targeting these races. That was his debut for the yard and there's a lot more to come. SHADY BAY (7.42 Brighton, treble) She caught the eye with a five-length win at Nottingham last time out. She showed a blistering turn of pace there and clearly enjoyed dropping to this distance. She is back out quickly under a 5lb penalty and has a big chance of following up under Hollie Doyle. COMMAND THE STARS (4.25 Lingfield, Lucky 15) He showed bundles of promise on debut and then absolutely bolted up at Beverley, pulling four lengths clear despite still running green. That performance marked him out as well above average and this step up to 7f is sure to suit given his stout Sea The Stars pedigree.
