Cardiologist Dr. Dmitry Yaranov said that a CRP blood test can help find hidden inflammation that may increase your risk of a heart attack. Heart attacks strike without warning, but what if you could assess your risk in advance? Cardiologist Dr. Dmitry Yaranov has highlighted a simple blood test that could help predict the likelihood of a heart attack. In a post shared on June 16, he explained how this test works and offered tips on protecting your heart health. So, what is this potentially life-saving test? Let's find out. The cardiologist said that the blood test is called C-reactive protein (CRP). 'The blood test that could save your life – and it's not cholesterol. CRP exposes silent inflammation that damages your arteries before you feel a single symptom. Most people have no idea their CRP is high – until it's too late. Even with 'normal' cholesterol, you could still be at risk. This is the kind of info that saves lives," he wrote, adding that even with normal cholesterol, having a high CRP would mean high risk. Take a look at the post here. Dr. Yaranov highlighted CRP as a key marker of silent inflammation, one that could play a vital role in identifying hidden heart attack risks. He said, 'CRP, or C-reactive protein, is produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Chronic inflammation can lead to blood vessel damage, significantly increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke." Why Does CRP Matter? According to Dr. Yaranov, elevated CRP levels are associated with increased risk of: Heart attack Stroke Narrowed arteries (atherosclerosis) Peripheral artery disease Measuring CRP For a comprehensive risk assessment, Dr. Yaranov recommends combining the hs-CRP test with cholesterol and Lp(a) [Lipoprotein(a)] blood tests. Here's how to interpret your hs-CRP results: By understanding your CRP levels and combining them with other key markers, you can gain a clearer picture of your cardiovascular health and take proactive steps to reduce your risk. How Can We Lower CRP? Dr. Yaranov shares actionable tips to reduce inflammation and lower CRP levels: Nourish your heart: Focus on a heart-healthy, anti-inflammatory diet rich in whole foods, fruits and vegetables. Get moving: Engage in regular physical activity to boost cardiovascular health. Achieve a healthy weight: Shedding excess weight can help reduce inflammation and CRP levels. Quit smoking: This would significantly lower your cardiovascular risk. Explore treatment options: Consult your doctor about statins or other therapies that may help. In addition, he emphasises that inflammation is a silent threat, but CRP testing can reveal hidden risks. Take charge of your heart health. Ask your doctor about your CRP levels and start your journey towards a healthier heart. view comments First Published: July 11, 2025, 19:59 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. The Mummy star cast - Brendan Fraser, Patricia Velasquez, John Hannah and Oded Fehr reunited after 26 years from the film's release. The Mummy film, released in 1999, was one of the highest-ranked movies of the year. Directed by Stephen Sommers, the action thriller was a striking update of the 1932 classic film that was able to garner immense praise, leading to a few other sequels. Despite this, the star cast of the 1999 movie has etched a special place in the hearts of their fans. So much so that the reunion of a few of them after 26 years of the film's release left viewers in complete nostalgia. Brendan Fraser, Patricia Velasquez, John Hannah and Oded Fehr from the stellar cast of The Mummy recently reunited at the final day of the 2025 Fan Expo Denver, on July 6, nearly three decades after the film's release. They not only posed shoulder-to-shoulder but also radiated pure happiness in the glimpses. Unfortunately, Rachel Weisz and Arnold Vosloo were missing from the photo-op for the action thriller's reunion. The photographs have been bringing waves to social media ever since they surfaced. Reacting to it, one nostalgic fan said, 'Oh I love this so much!!! The Mummy was EVERYTHING to me as a kid lol. I watched them over and over and over again. Ancient Egypt is still one of my favorite time periods bc of The Mummy!" adding, 'The first two Mummy films are still some of the absolute very best historical adventure films too, in my opinion. Just top notch. Nothing but fun all around from beginning to end." Another person added, 'Omg The Mummy is my favourite movie. I wish Rachel and Arnold could have made it. Maybe for the 30th?" A fan even raved about how Fehr's evergreen looks, writing, 'Man, Oded's locks are still gorgeous!." View this post on Instagram A post shared by SCREEN THRILL| Movies & TV (@screenthrill) An intrigued fan added, 'They should make the real The Mummy 3!" The hit film also had two sequels — The Mummy Returns in 2001 and the Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. Also, The Mummy reboot starring Tom Cruise also hit the screens in 2017 but failed to make such an impact amongst the viewers. At the event, Fraser opened up about his honest opinion on why Cruise's 2017 version flopped at the box office. 'I really don't know. I know Tom Cruise tried to make his movie and it ain't easy! We all know how hard this movie is to make…" adding, 'With the exception of three [The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor], the thing with all of these films is that, at least it was fun, it was a thrill ride, and you wanted to do it again. The answer is you've just got to give everybody what they really, really want." In the 1999 film, Brendan Fraser appeared as Rick O'Connell, followed by Patricia Velásquez as Anck-Su-Namun, John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay, Rachel Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan and Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep a.k.a. Vietnamese business owner rips off compatriot in Korea, refuses to pay wages
A Vietnamese business owner in South Korea has been accused of exploiting the visa status of a fellow Vietnamese national by refusing to pay wages amounting to 3.5 million won ($2,592), a local media reported Monday. The alleged victim was staying in Korea on a student visa, which in bans holders from working without permission from the school and the Korea Immigration Service. Despite this, the suspect is alleged to have employed him at his food store, where the wage dispute arose, according to News1, citing the Cheonan office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The accused had snubbed the summons orders by the labor board for seven months, leading officials to arrest him at his residence in Osan, Gyeonggi Province. The investigation revealed that the accused was in the country illegally, and had registered and operated multiple businesses under borrowed names. His case has been transferred to the local immigration office under the Korea Immigration Service. South Korea's labor law and a landmark 1995 ruling of the Supreme Court states that an employee should not be refused wages even if the employment itself is against the law. Those victimized by such actions should report the case to the local labor authorities. Violating the conditions of the D-2 student visa could lead to a fine or cancellation of the visa.

Did BTS' Suga Complete His Military Duties Before Official Discharge Date?
Last Updated: As the idol was marked 'unfit for regular combat duty", Suga served as a social service agent, which is a non-combat position in the South Korean military. With RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook already back to civilian life, ARMYs are waiting for Suga's discharge, which will reunite BTS after a wait of nearly three years. Min Yoongi, aka Suga, effectively completed his mandatory military service a couple of days before what was previously revealed, which led to speculations of whether he would be discharged earlier than his scheduled day. While Suga has completed his public service duties as of Wednesday, June 18, his official discharge date is still June 21. As reported by News1, the BTS member is using his remaining vacation days and no longer needs to go back to his workplace and report for duty after June 18. This was done through the standard process, and Suga did not receive any special treatment. Suga began his alternative military service on September 22, 2023, and also completed the basic training upon enlistment. Unlike the other six members of BTS who served in regular military roles, Suga's service was a bit different. As the idol was marked 'unfit for regular combat duty", probably due to his 2020 shoulder surgery, Suga served as a social service agent, which is a non-combat position in the South Korean military. His duties were more focused towards public service work rather than physical military tasks. Suga had to serve 21 months as a social service agent, instead of the usual 18 months' duty that the other BTS members served. Now that Suga's service is nearly over, fans are buzzing with excitement about the reunion of the OT7, which fans got a glimpse of recently. On June 13, on the occasion of BTS' 12th anniversary, all seven members of the globally renowned K-pop group were seen together at J-Hope's encore concert at the Goyang Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. Suga was also present, although he kept his appearance low-key in a beanie and mask, avoiding showing his face. As per a report by The Korea Herald, BTS is also planning to make a mega comeback to the music scene next year. Reportedly, the septet is set to make its long-awaited full-group comeback in March 2026. Moreover, J-Hope, during his appearance on MBC's variety show Point of Omniscient Interfere, talked about BTS' comeback. He said, 'We're planning to gather and discuss the album. We're trying to prepare as quickly as possible. Since BTS is all about performances, we're also planning a full group world tour," which increased the excitement among fans manifold.
