Rebel Wilson Faces New Lawsuit from 'The Deb' Producers, Shares Film Clip in Defiant Response

Rebel Wilson's 'The Deb' premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024 but has not received a public release yet due to an ongoing legal battle Rebel Wilson is reacting to a new lawsuit filed against her by the production company behind her directorial debut The Deb in Australia. On Friday, July 25, outlets like The Guardian, News Australia and The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the U.K. based company AI Film filed a lawsuit in Australia's New South Wales Supreme Court alleging that Wilson, 45, has deliberately sabotaged the movie's release and that she has caused the company "financial and reputational damage." In response, the Pitch Perfect actress posted the opening number to the movie musical on Instagram and a lengthy message on her Instagram Stories stating the new lawsuit "makes no sense." "As the director, producer and co-star who nurtured a project called THE DEB for 5 years from a 3 page idea into a gorgeous feature film - I want nothing more than to have this film released and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get this to happen," Wilson wrote in part on her Instagram Stories. "To say otherwise is complete nonsense. I'm so proud of the film!" Wilson wrote that she believes the new lawsuit constitutes "continued bullying and harassment from" the movie's financiers at AI Films, Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden. Ghost, Cameron and Holden originally filed a lawsuit against Wilson in California in July 2024, claiming that she sought to receive "credit for work she did not do" on the film related to the project's original music. As Wilson claimed at the time and now, the producers attempted to prevent the movie from making its world premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival; the movie ultimately did premiere despite the ongoing legal battle, but has not released publicly. That lawsuit is ongoing. 'These proceedings are regrettable but essential to ensure The Deb's timely release," AI Films told The Guardian in a statement on July 25. "It's a joyous, fun film, and we are sure that audiences are going to love it.' Attorneys for Wilson filed a countersuit against Ghost, Cameron and Holden in October 2024, alleging that the trio deliberately misappropriated $900,000 in Australian currency from the movie's budget, coerced her signature on agreements related to the movie under duress, and that Ghost sexually harassed The Deb's lead actress Charlotte MacInnes, which allegedly caused the person "to suffer a breakdown." Per The Guardian, MacInnes later filed a declaration in the U.S. court stating that Wilson fabricated the claims, describing them as 'completely false and absurd." On July 25, Wilson wrote that she was releasing the first song from The Deb, a number titled "F--- My Life," because it's a phrase she has grown used to using during the ongoing legal battle. "Every day since discovering their dodgy behavior (reported by cast and crew) I have said "F--- my life" but not in the fun way like in the song - in the way of like 'how on earth did my joyful directorial debut get s--- on by vile financiers who spew toxicity ALL because I told the truth about them,' " she wrote. In Wilson's Instagram Stories, she renewed her allegations that the producer trio stole money from the film's budget and that a cast member reported feeling uncomfortable with one of the producer's actions on set. "I reported both things. I'd do the same again. I believe in a safe and inclusive workplace," Wilson wrote."I've moved on, now directing my 2nd movie and loving it. But regarding THE DEB all I can literally say is 'F--- my life" with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. Everyone who worked on the movie and who knows me KNOWS I put my blood, sweat and tears into this," she added. "Everyone knows I'm a "truth teller" when it comes to vile people in the industry. I just want this movie to come out and for all the amazingly talented contributors to be recognized for their sensational work!" Read the original article on People

Gen X is facing an unprecedented mental health conundrum – here's why

Don't miss out on the headlines from Lifestyle. Followed categories will be added to My News. While of course every generation is faced with different sources of stress and hardship, the report reveals Aussies classed as Generation X – born between 1965 and 1980 – are facing an unprecedented challenge. According to a new report conducted by Medibank and News Australia's The Growth Distillery, an overwhelming majority of Gen X Aussies are tasked with caring for both their aging parents and aging children. Despite experiencing considerably more financial security, home ownership and career establishment than younger generations, the increasing financial, emotional and physical pressure to act as caretakers for the generations preceding and succeeding them is negatively impacting the mental health of Gen X Aussies. Gen X: The Caretaker Generation Thanks to advancements in technology, research and healthcare innovation, as well as decades of healthy habits, people are now living well into their 80s and 90s, with some even hitting triple digits. But as more elderly Aussies reach a milestone age, we're presented with a unique set of challenges. With Australia's healthcare and aged care systems somewhat overwhelmed by the increasing number of elderly Australians, the onus to provide care and support often falls on members of Gen X. On the flipside, the rising cost of living and unwavering housing crisis are forcing many younger Australians to depend more heavily on their parents (again, Gen X) for financial support. As a result, a large proportion of Gen X Aussies have been forced to take on the role of caretaker for both their children and their parents, a sandwich of responsibility no other generation has yet to experience in the same way. Gen X find it particularly difficult to open up to their children about their mental health. Image: iStock Pressure to support those around them Despite bordering on the age of retirement, many Gen X Aussies are working later in life due to the sustained cost of living and dependency of other generations. As a result, Gen X reports their main source of stress is financial responsibilities such as mortgages and retirement planning. The State of Mind: Australia's Mental Health Conversation report also reveals that managing the health issues that come with aging, such as menopause, is another factor significantly impacting Gen X's mental health. With the responsibility of supporting their children and parents – financially, physically and emotionally – often falling solely on them, Gen X reports feeling a reluctance to burden others with their problems, especially when it comes to speaking about their mental health. There is a serious need for improved mental health literacy and communication across all relationships. Image: iStock Overcoming a reluctance to open up While a reluctance to burden others is a universal barrier, Gen X find it particularly difficult to open up to their children about their mental health and any struggles they may be experiencing, despite their children being adults themselves. According to the report, 28 per cent of parents of 16 to 30-year-olds reveal they've never had a conversation about their own mental health with their adult children. Hesitancy aside, the report reveals a strong desire among younger Australians to have more frequent and open discussions about mental health with their Gen X parents, but also that 8 in 10 Australians expect parents to initiate conversations with their children. According to the statistics, there is a serious need for improved mental health literacy and communication across all relationships, especially between those stemming from different generations. With Gen X feeling overly burdened by the financial and emotional needs of those around them, as well as a pressure to support and provide for them, it's imperative that we find methods of enhancing communication to strengthen family support systems across the board. According to the report, despite 4 in 10 Aussies finding it difficult to relate to the challenges and struggles of different generations, 70 per cent of people believe that hearing their parents share their personal struggles would make them more comfortable discussing their own. "Chucky" Actor Ed Gale Dies at 61

Yara Sameh Ed Gale, best known for playing Chucky, a doll possessed by a serial killer in Child's Play and other infamous 1980s movie characters, has died in Los Angeles. He was 61. His niece Kayse Gale wrote on Facebook, 'It is with a heavy heart and a surprisingly light coffin (see what I did there?) that we announce the sudden passing of our uncle, Ed Gale. Ed Gale has taken his final bow and is now headlining in the afterlife. Ed hitched a ride to California when he was twenty years old, with $41 and a dream, and he never looked back. He lit up the silver screens in cult classic films like Howard the Duck and Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town, earning himself some serious street cred at every con he attended. Which he never stopped bragging about. Ever. 'Over the course of his career he appeared in over 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials. With this wide ranging body of work, he leaves behind legacy full of questionable lighting and amazing one-liners. Ed's favorite role was that of the 'fun uncle.' His love language was sharing his love of the entertainment industry and the magic of Hollywood with his nieces. 'Ed loved 7 eleven hotdogs with disgusting amounts of ketchup. He enjoyed reminiscing about his glory days DJing at the Plainwell roller rink. He hated Bill Maher for no good reason. He delighted in the slow build up of telling a good story, and cheating at cribbage. He had one hell of a laugh, and he will be missed. Rest in love you cranky bastard,' she concluded. Gale went on to wear the devilish doll suit in 'Child's Play 2' and 'Bride of Chucky,' costumed as the possessed doll with the soul of a serial killer. In the TV series 'Land of the Lost,' Gale played the dinosaur Tasha. He had a brief appearance on 'My Name Is Earl' as a carnival performer, and he had a supporting role in the Matthew McConaughey film 'Tiptoes,' which revolved around a family of little people. His other appearances include 'Oh Brother, 'Where Art Thou,' 'Baywatch,' '3rd Rock From the Sun,' 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey' and 'Friday the 13th: The Series." Gale was also a familiar face at fan conventions and personal appearances for his films. Born in Plainwell, Mich., he moved to Los Angeles to become an actor and appeared in more than 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

Global Outage Hits Elon Musk's X Platform

Israa Farhan The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter and owned by Elon Musk, experienced a major worldwide outage on Saturday, affecting tens of thousands of users across multiple countries. Reports of the outage surged rapidly, according to Downdetector, a service that monitors online platform disruptions. In the United States alone, over 25,000 users reported being unable to access the platform properly. Many users faced difficulties loading new posts and navigating the app due to persistent error messages. This marks the second significant technical failure for X in 2025. A previous outage in March caused a temporary shutdown of user interactions and messaging features, raising ongoing concerns about the platform's technical stability. The outage occurred at a crucial time for the company. Since Elon Musk acquired the platform in October 2022 for $44 billion, X has undergone massive changes, including a reduction of nearly 80 percent of its workforce. The sharp downsizing has raised questions about the platform's ability to maintain reliable service levels. read more UAE's Lunar Mission Delayed to Tomorrow Twitter Lifts Trump's Account Ban Scientists Find Evidence Of 10،000 Black Holes Surrounding The Center Of The Milky Way Galaxy Greenhouse In Antarctica Able To Grow Vegetables Without Soil Or Sunlight Moving Over China: U.S. Is Again Home to World's Speediest Supercomputer Technology The 10 most expensive cars in the world Technology Top 10 fastest cars in the world Technology Lasers Could Make Computers 1 Million Times Faster Technology Smart technology taking control of our lives News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies
