42 Nadi centres now operating in Penang with new additions
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Four new National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) have commenced operations in the Pematang Pauh parliamentary constituency, increasing Penang's total NADI count to 42. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the new centres are located in Penanti (two), Seberang Jaya, and Pematang Pasir. Three began operations in May 2024, while the Kubang Semang centre opened in December 2023. 'This aligns with the one state constituency, one NADI policy directed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,' Fahmi stated during a press conference after visiting the Kubang Semang NADI. Accompanying him were Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Information Department (JaPen) director-general Julina Johan. Fahmi noted that Penang previously had only three NADIs. He emphasised their potential to benefit communities through initiatives like Maxis' eKELAS digital learning and entrepreneurship training. 'These programmes help local products reach broader markets, including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and online platforms,' he added. Earlier, Fahmi tested telecommunications coverage using the MCMC Nexus app during a bus ride from PICCA@Arena Butterworth Convention Centre to NADI Kubang Semang. He reported satisfactory internet speeds, averaging 90–100 Mbps for downloads and 20–30 Mbps for uploads. However, he instructed MCMC to address connectivity gaps using Nexus data. 'The public can assess internet quality via speed tests. This data will help us hold telcos accountable,' he explained. Fahmi later attended the 'Sembang Santai Komuniti MADANI' programme at the Central Seberang Perai District Hall, joined by former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

42 Nadi Centres Operating In Penang Now
BUKIT MERTAJAM, June 30 (Bernama) -- Four new National Information Dissemination Centre (NADIs) have started operating in the Pematang Pauh Parliamentary Constituency, bringing the total number of NADIs in Penang to 42. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said two of the NADIs are located in Penanti and one each in Seberang Jaya and Pematang Pasir. "Three of these NADIs have started operating since May 2024 while the NADI in Kubang Semang was opened in December 2024. This is part of the implementation of the one state constituency one NADI policy as directed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," he said in a press conference after visiting the Kubang Semang NADI here today. Also present were Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Information Department (JaPen) director-general Julina Johan. Fahmi said that previously there were only three NADIs throughout Penang and he believed that the initiative could provide great benefits to local residents, especially through programmes such as eKELAS by Maxis and entrepreneurship training. He said through this entrepreneurial programme, local products can be identified and brought to a wider market including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, as well as through online sales platforms. Earlier, Fahmi joined the monitoring test of telecommunications coverage quality using the MCMC Nexus application by taking a bus from PICCA@Arena Butterworth Convention Centre to NADI Kubang Semang here. Commenting on the level of internet access, he said the average speed on the route was satisfactory and currently reached around 90 to over 100 Mbps for downloads, while uploads were between 20 to 30 Mbps. However, he said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had been instructed to use data from Nexus application to identify areas that still have constraints in terms of access or coverage.

'The world privacy tour didn't work out': Prince Harry's slammed for claim wife Meghan Markle was 'most trolled person in the world' during surprise solo appearance in New York
Prince Harry has raised eyebrows with fresh comments about his wife Meghan Markle and the online trolling she faced in 2018. The Duke of Sussex, 40, made the remarks during a surprise solo appearance at the Nexus Global Summit in New York on Friday, where he joined Nexus co-founder Rachel Gerrol for a panel discussion on digital safety for children, a cause he and his 43-year-old wife have long championed through their Archewell Foundation. "Why the digital world was so important to us was because my wife in 2018 was the most trolled person in the world," he told the audience. "So there was a lived experience in that." The claim has sparked criticism, with Sky News host Caroline Di Russo questioning the timing and relevance of the comment. "Of course it isn't fair for anybody to be trolled," Di Russo said. "But when someone is in the public sphere there is bound to be criticism." She added: "The world privacy tour didn't quite go the way we thought that it would… so why is he bringing this up now?" Daily Express royal reporter Pandora Forsyth also weighed in, suggesting that Harry's public appearances no longer carry the impact they once did. "If you think back to a few years ago, if Harry was appearing in New York, it would be sort of like front page headlines," she said. "But he does so many of these conferences and appearances now, it sort of seeps into the background." While Forsyth said it's unclear whether the Duke was paid for the event, she noted these engagements are becoming more frequent now that the Sussexes are "financially independent". Forsyth acknowledged the importance of the broader cause protecting children from the dangers of online bullying, but questioned Harry's decision to draw focus to Meghan's past experience. "He is trying as best he can to link back to actually quite a noble cause, which is children who have unfortunately and very tragically committed suicide… part of the reason is because of online trolling," she said. "But this was in 2018, and if he keeps on linking it back to this, then I sort of think it takes away from the really important matter at hand. "We know Meghan got trolled, and we are not saying that is good, it should have never have happened," Forsyth added. "But now the headline, actually, is Meghan- not that." Forsyth said the Prince "really needs to think about how he is communicating that message and how he is standing up for those families" to ensure their stories remain front and centre. "Not Meghan being trolled, which we have heard about many, many times before." Elsewhere in the panel discussion, Harry encouraged attendees to "consider their own legacies" and "align their investments accordingly". "Whatever you put out there, you get back," he said. Following the talk, the Duke met with the Australian Nexus delegation, a group of social impact leaders and philanthropic organisations working to tackle mental health and social media harms.

In his address, the duke also urged those in attendance to use their platforms to serve the wider community, telling the crowd: 'Whatever you put out there, you get back.' Harry met with the Nexus Australian delegation, made up of people and organisations working to address mental health and social media safety, and a Brazilian delegation of 12 young people striving to tackle inequality through education and volunteerism.
