Neyveli book fair draws over 1.75 lakh book lovers

Over 1.75 lakh book lovers from all walks of life, including schoolchildren, visited the recently-concluded 24th edition of the Neyveli Book Fair hosted by NLC India Limited (NLCIL). The event that was launched amid much fanfare on July 4, came to a close at the Book Fair Grounds on Monday. Addressing the valedictory function, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma appreciated the NLCIL for bring schoolchildren from rural areas to the book fair by arranging free transport. With rich and diverse languages and culture, India was a treasure trove of literature, he said, adding that the Prime Minister's vision of Viksit Bharat would become a reality only with the spreading of literature and culture. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL said the company had plans to increase its existing renewable energy capacity manifold by 2030. Though the Neyveli Book Fair had the second highest number of visitors in the State, it was the best in the country, he said. An e-souvenir was also released on the occasion. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) was present.

CUDDALORE: The 24th edition of the Neyveli Book Fair was inaugurated virtually by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy on Friday evening, alongside the International Conference on Sustainable and Responsible Mining held in Hyderabad. The event saw the participation of key officials, including the Secretary (Mines), Additional Secretary (Coal), Chairman and Managing Director of Coal India Limited, and Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India Limited (NLCIL). In his address, the Minister lauded NLCIL's continued efforts to promote a reading culture and foster intellectual growth through the annual literary festival. 'The Neyveli Book Fair is a significant platform for promoting knowledge, inclusivity, and community engagement,' he said. Highlighting the role of such initiatives in the country's development goals, he added, 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is progressing steadily towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. Events like the Neyveli Book Fair contribute meaningfully to this journey by equipping the youth with knowledge.' He commended NLCIL for its commitment to the cause and its organisational scale. 'I appreciate NLCIL's role in furthering the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 by empowering citizens through access to knowledge,' he said.

Union Coal Minister inaugurates Neyveli Book Fair

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the 24th Neyveli Book Fair, organised by NLC India Limited in virtual mode on Friday. The fair is on till July 14. Inaugurating the event on the sidelines of the International Conference on Sustainable and Responsible Mining in Hyderabad, Mr. Reddy commended NLCIL for its exceptional contribution to society — particularly in supplying water to support agriculture in the surrounding regions and in meeting a significant portion of Chennai city's drinking water requirements. 'This is how a public sector enterprise serves national development goals while being a catalyst for regional upliftment,' he said. The fair features 190 stalls put up by leading publishers and booksellers from across India. NLCIL has also announced free entry for school and college students throughout the event. Earlier, a short video showcasing the highlights and the community impact of the Neyveli Book Fair was played at the inauguration. Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey and NLCIL Chairman and Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli were present.
