Niagara's Own Coffee Company setting up shop on Military Road
The Military Road thoroughfare has another breakfast spot with Niagara's Own Coffee Company beginning operations last month.
Owner Tom Kornacki, a North Tonawanda resident who is involved with Sunrise Maintenance of WNY, opened the business during the first week of February. He had also worked in a pizza shop and has a lifelong dream of running his own restaurant.
'I wanted to do something different,' Kornacki said of Niagara's Own, adding his sisters are helping the business get started.
The coffee comes from New Day Coffee Roasters in North Tonawanda, which Kornacki also sells in bags for home use. The rest of the menu of mainly breakfast foods features bagels, sandwiches, muffins and toast. He's looking to add more lunch options in the next few weeks.
The location at 21010 Military Road was previously home to a Totally Buffalo Store, Mike's Deli Sandwiches, and a tattoo parlor. Kornacki likes the location since it is across the street from Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls. The interior features art of Niagara Falls on a wall, adding to the theme of the name.
Kornacki hopes business picks up as the weather gets warmer, with plans for a partnership to sell coffee at the nearby Ghada Have It!
'We want to work together in the area and deal with local businesses,' Kornacki said. 'We don't want to be like the franchises … we want to be different.'
Niagara's Own is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the week, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays.
