Nicolas Kuhn to RB Leipzig transfer reaches 'advanced stage' as Celtic told minimum fee for winger

Talks between Celtic to sell Nicolas Kuhn to RB Leipzig are reportedly "at an advanced stage." The German winger finished the campaign with an impressive 21 goals and 15 assists in 51 matches in all competitions despite struggling to show top form in the second half of the campaign. Advertisement But the slump in the second half of the campaign hasn't stopped suitors queuing up for the signature of the 25-year-old with Newcastle United and Leipzig said to be keen on a deal this summer. Advertisement The report notes that that the market boffins at Transfermarkt value Kuhn at €12million (£10.2million) but as the wide man has a contract that runs until 2029 the "transfer fee is likely to be at least in line with the market value" but is likely to be "significantly higher." Former Celtic hero Chris Sutton reckons the Parkhead powerbrokers may struggle to even land that fee for Kuhn - as he warned the wide man he should stay for another year in Glasgow's east end. Writing in his Record Sport column, he said: 'I have my doubts Celtic would get £15m for the German this summer, for a start. He struggled at first in Scotland as he struggled having lost weight with those dental problems. 'He was sensational in the first half of the season and looked a certainty to clean up the player of the year awards. Advertisement 'Yet he did go off the boil a bit following the Bayern Munich game and it does pose questions about his consistency. 'Are teams going to cough up big money on the back of a spectacular six months? They might do, but I'm not so sure. "Newcastle United were credited with interest back in January but I can't see him shifting the likes of Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon. 'It just seems like the wrong time to be even considering selling, though. I think "Celtic will struggle to get top dollar and yet I believe he will be worth more down the line. 'Kuhn isn't ready for me. Sometimes you get the feeling a player has reached the natural stage where the next step is inevitable.' The winger has been on the agenda for the Hoops since January when he was a key transfer target and is believed to still be on Brendan Rodgers' wishlist. That could intensify further if Nicolas Kuhn is sold, with Como and RB Leipzig making attempts to land him. Reports in Belgium had suggested Antwerp were willing to lower their asking price for the 24-year-old to £4.6 million as they are in need of the funds. But new manager Wils has appeared to suggest he is keen to keep the player as part of his squad. He told Belgian media: 'Of course I want to keep him. I also think that it can work.' It was their first campaign back in the top division having been promoted as Serie B runners-up the season before. They've been busy in the transfer market already, with £15million midfielder Martin Baturina arriving from Dinamo Zagreb along with ex-Celtic defender Alex Valle who joined permanently from Barcelona after a loan stint. Como have now also reportedly agreed a bumper £23m deal to sign Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis. Advertisement But it doesn't look like the bumper arrival of the 19-year old winger will ease their interest in Kuhn, with Como reportedly looking to add two key players in the position this summer. Italian reports claimed a few days back that the club had opened negotiations with Celtic over Kuhn, who's also of interest to RB Leipzig, a club where he spent time as a youth. With Valle already in the door and Kuhn of interest, a THIRD player with Celtic links is also on the club's radar. Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla claimed on Thursday that Como were interest in signing Carl Starfelt. Advertisement A few days on, he's now reporting that they are ready to 'increase the pressure' to get a deal for the Swedish centre-back over the line. Pedulla's fresh report says Como are 'continuing to push' for Starfelt and are ready to pay big money to sign him. He claims Starfelt's valuation is around £8.5m. Nicolas Kuhn watches dithering RB Leipzig go tame as transfer truth comes to boil over Celtic star

RB Leipzig's pursuit of Celtic star Nicolas Kuhn is set to be turned down a notch - according to a report. Despite dropping off in the second half of last season, the German winger finished the campaign with an impressive 21 goals and 15 assists in 51 matches in all competitions. Advertisement Last week, it was reported that the former Bayern Munich kid is a summer target for Bundesliga side Leipzig, who missed out on European football altogether next season with a disappointing seventh place finish in Germany's top tier. READ MORE: Shin Yamada draws Celtic scouts directly to him as Japan transfer double is on amid striker signing mission READ MORE: Evan Ferguson sees Celtic murmur come with a unwavering transfer guarantee as agent makes a big time claim Kuhn has also been touted for a big money switch to Newcastle but Hoops hero and Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton has warned that the wide man is not ready for the step-up and needs another year until his belt at Parkhead first. Advertisement However, a move from Leipzig for Kuhn - or any player for that matter - will reportedly be on hold until a decision on just who will be in the dugout at the Red Bull Arena next season is made. Die Roten Bullen have been without a permanent boss since March 30 when Marco Rose got the boot after a very underwhelming showing on home soil and in Europe. Former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain number two Zsolt Low was appointed as interim manager for the remainder of the campaign but is not expected to be in contention to land the job on a permanent basis. And while Ole Werner - who stepped down from Werder Bremen last month after leading them to a eight place finish in the Bundesliga - is the favourite to replace Low, German outlet Merkur state that getting the managerial situation sorted will take preference over improving the squad. Advertisement Leipzig have already snapped up the signing of talented Dutch youngster OH Leuven ahead of the new season but that deal was completed back in April. They claim that Mosquera has gone as far as giving Leizpig a verbal agreement that he wants to move to Germany but won't officially put pen to paper until he knows just who he will be playing under.
