Élise Lounici was riding the Crest Of A Wave as thousands of revellers let their hair down in style at the Night and Day music festival yesterday. Unlike her idol Rory Gallagher's song of the same name, the singer and guitarist with French indie-rock band Frank was enjoying the reaction and tidal wave of support she received within minutes of taking to the stage on the shores of Lough Key, near Boyle in Co. Roscommon. After playing a rollicking 40-minute set at the Lough Key Forest estate, Élise told 'It was amazing, it was really great. Élise Lounici. Pic: Seán Dwyer 27/06/2025 'The crowd were really warm. People reacted very strongly. For me, it's a question of sharing, and if you give, then the crowd give it back. 'I was surprised. I'm always amazed with the crowds in Ireland. They are always so warm. It was my first time at Night And Day. I would love to come back,' she said. Up to 5,000 festival fans will descend on the scenic venue over the two-day festival. Élise, who now divides her time between Ireland and France, added: 'I came to Ireland for the first time after Covid. I think it was 2023, and now I spend half my time living in Ireland and half my time living in France. 'It's easier for me to live in Dublin, as I travel a lot, but I would prefer to be in Donegal or Mayo,' she added. Artist Nickie Harrington. Pic: Seán Dwyer 27/06/25 Élise was joined by legendary Irish band The Stunning and their contemporaries, Something Happens and The Sultans Of Ping, as well as Swedish star José González, during the first day of the weekend festival yesterday. She added: 'I'm looking forward to seeing José González and Paul Brady. I have never seen them. It will be my first time and I am really looking forward to it.' Among the music fans who camped out on the sprawling grounds of the stunning lakeshore estate over the weekend were Mark Reed and his partner Breege Kilcullen. They travelled from their home county of Mayo so they could see KT Tunstall for the first time ever. The Scottish star is set to close the annual music festival later this evening. Other acts due to perform today include Meath singer Lisa Hannigan, Jamaican reggae stars The Wailers, Bray's Fionn Regan and Limerick band Hermitage Green. Katie Stewart from Boyle, Meadhbh McGann from Laytown and Georgina Stewart from Boyle and with Joey Messayeh from Drogheda (the Co. Meath part). It's lovely and it's so peaceful and quiet. The weather is good. This is a hidden part of the country, and it's beautiful here. It's perfect.' Mark added: 'It's our first time here. We have no complaints whatsoever. It's very chilled, very relaxed, and enjoyable. It's perfect for us.'

Founded by Mayo man and well-known Irish Daily Mail journalist Craig Hughes, the fourth annual Night and Day Festival will feature several well-known music acts and a variety of activities for all the family. Here is everything you need to know ahead of the festival: Where is it taking place? Night and Day takes place in Lough Key Forest Park, County Roscommon on 27-29 June. Who is playing? Headline acts include; KT Tunstall, The Stunning, Jose Gonzalez, Paul Brady, Lisa Hannigan, The Wailers, Sultans of Ping, Fionn Regan, Hermitage Green, Joshua Burnside, Efa O'Neill, Nialler9, Daithi, Skinner, DUG and many more. Apart from the music is there anything else going on? Yes, Night And Day have a full wellness schedule that ranges from hot tubs, saunas, yoga and reiki workshops. Festival-goers can also avail of exiting activities in Lough Key Forest Park like Is it family friendly? The festival is over 20s but under 14s can attend with an adult ticket holder. The festival has a full schedule of family friendly activities including kids yoga, circus skills, imagination playground, foraging for medicinal plants and much more. Are there tickets still available? Yes, weekend camping tickets (€195) as well as day tickets for Friday (€65), Saturday (€98) and Sunday (€98) are still on sale. Is there glamping? Yes, but you need to book in advance. Are there any campervan pitches remaining? No, they are sold out. How do I get there? Driving: Exit the N4 onto the L1019 which will bring you to the festival car park. General traffic does NOT enter through the main Lough Key Forest Park entrance. Train: You can get the train to either Boyle or Carrick-on-Shannon and get the shuttle bus (check timings) from designated locations. Bus: A shuttle bus from Boyle (King House) and Carrick on Shannon (Cryan's Hotel) is operating. Boat: The marina at Lough Key is open so you can arrive by boat if you wish. What type of food is there? French Fresh Crepes Master Food - burgers, hot dogs Bish Bosh - vegetarian / vegan (GF) Weirdough Pizza (GF option) La Tina Juanas - Latin American (GF option) Country Grill - Rotisserie Chicken dishes The Salt Project - Nomadic Food Prátaí - Gourmet Fries What drinks are on offer? There was once an ITV soap that featured major Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks stars. Set in Greenwich, the show only lasted three seasons after it was first broadcast back in 2001. It delved into the lives of six families who lived on Thornton Street and followed the story of missing 16-year-old girl, Jane Harper. The show began on Jane's birthday and by the end of the day, she had vanished, only appearing in fantasy and flashback scenes afterwards. The actor and comedian also voiced Sid in 2006 film Flushed Away, a sewer rat who tries to claim Roddy's flat as his own. Best known for his longstanding role as Alfie Moon in BBC's EastEnders, Shane Richie played Danny Dexter in Night And Day Lysette Anthony Roxanne Doyle was played by Lysette Anthony in Night And Day. The character had frequent outbursts and was the mother of Dennis and Della. Aside from Night And Day, Lysette went on to star as Yvonne in Hollyoaks between 2008 and 2009. The actress returned in 2016 and played Marnie Nightingale until 2022. Roxanne Doyle was played by Lysette Anthony in Night And Day.
