How to Fight Elden Ring Nightreign's Everdark Sovereign Bosses
Everything you've learned about Limveld over the weeks since Elden Ring Nightreign's launch has just been flipped on its head. Developer FromSoftware previously announced that enhanced versions of the game's bosses would feature in post-launch updates, but they were shadowdropped with little to no warning on Wednesday, with full details from publisher Bandai Namco. These Everdark Sovereigns have certainly been eating their Wheaties, because they're bigger, stronger and have wicked special moves that you'll have to learn if you want to stand a chance against this new threat. But if you can conquer the next iterations of the Nightlord, you'll earn a special currency that opens up an endgame shop filled with loot. Here's everything you need to know about the Everdark Sovereigns, ranging from what they are, how to take them on and what goodies you can earn if you're skilled enough to take one of these bad boys out. What are the Everdark Sovereigns? If you've put the beat down on Elden Ring Nightreign's roster of Nightlord aspects and come out the other side thinking they were too easy, the Everdark Sovereigns are designed with you in mind. These foes are enhanced "hard mode" versions of the regular expedition bosses, and they add new moves and mechanics to the already challenging night three fights. Everdark Sovereign fights begin with the boss's second phase before shifting into a new third phase, making them some of the deadliest enemies in Nightreign. Each Everdark Sovereign expedition is available for a week, after which a new fight will become available. The first Everdark Sovereign is Adel, the Gaping Jaw, and Everdark Sovereign versions of the Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight will rotate in and out over the coming weeks. Eventually, there'll be an Everdark Sovereign variant of every Nightlord aspect, though there's no word on if they'll be ready after the first three hard mode bosses have rotated into the game. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by CNET How can you embark on an expedition to fight one of Nightreign's new bosses? You don't have to jump through too many hoops to try to take on the Everdark Sovereigns, but they won't all be accessible at the same time. These bosses are time-gated and are in the game for one week each. So long as you've beaten the normal version of the currently available Everdark Sovereign, you'll be able to access the special expedition during this time. A new expedition outlined in purple will appear at the bottom of the list, and embarking on the current Everdark Sovereign expedition is as simple as choosing this option and proceeding normally. If you've beaten the easier, base game version of the current Everdark Sovereign and you don't see the special expedition in your list of available options, make sure you have a functioning internet connection. You can take the Everdark Sovereigns on in solo mode (if you're a masochist), but you'll need to remain online and connected to the Elden Ring Nightreign servers to access this new content. How can you beat these hard mode bosses? If you want to beat an Everdark Sovereign, you'll have to "get good." There are no two ways about it: These bosses are much harder than their base game counterparts. They start in their second phase, have new third phases and special moves that hit like a truck. With that being said, there are still ways you can even the odds after mastering the basics of Elden Ring Nightreign. Many of the skills that you should learn to challenge base game bosses still apply to Everdark Sovereign expeditions. It's more important than ever to set up a cohesive relic build that synergizes with your class's play style. Buying chalices from the Jar Bazaar and farming Murk to buy up some more relics will help you create the right build for your favorite Nightfarer. During your expeditions, you'll obviously want to pick up weapons and shields that provide you with passive stats that pair well with your Nightfarer, as well as your general play style with the character. You should also be running the most optimized rune-earning route possible to get as close to level 15 as you can by the time you enter the third night. Most importantly, you'll want to pick up weapons that have status effects that the bosses are weak to. If the enhanced version of Adel is anything to go by, Everdark Sovereigns will move quickly and have short windows of vulnerability. Pick up a weapon that exploits their weakness to break down their poise and extend the amount of time you can whack at the boss. High damage per second is a virtue. The quicker you can knock out a boss, the less time it has to defeat you and your friends. A war of attrition is an easy way to lose an expedition in Nightreign, so plan ahead before you ever face down the new Nightlord aspect. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by CNET What do you get for beating an Everdark Sovereign? In addition to the normal expedition rewards, you'll have a chance to earn new boss relics and a special currency called Sovereign Sigils. The boss relics are incredibly powerful alterations to popular play styles. The first Everdark Sovereign, the Gaping Jaw, drops the Dark Night of the Baron relic. This relic improves the damage of critical hits twice over and makes you generate runes upon landing one of those crushing blows. It seems as though Everdark Sovereign relics will be a powerful new way for Nightreign's min-maxers to advance their build in a game where you don't pick how your stats change past the character select screen. Beating your first Everdark Sovereign unlocks a new merchant in the Roundtable Hold. The Collector Signboard is located on the beachy area just outside of the Jar Bazaar. It can be found in the southwest corner of the hub. This is where you'll spend the currency you earn from beating the new bosses. Spending Sovereign Sigils is a great way to grow your power between runs. They're also the keys to unlocking quality-of-life features that many players have been clamoring for. Sovereign Sigils can be spent to unlock a suite of new chalices that unlock more relic rites for your Nightfarers, as well as an improved version of the Scenic Flatstone that guarantees you purple-rarity relics. Nightfarer garb can also be purchased with Sovereign Sigils, but it's the same wardrobe of skins purchasable with Murk, the other currency you earn from expeditions. This currency can also be spent to choose specific Shifting Earth events for your next run, restore the Roundtable Hold to its appearance from before the defeat of the final Nightlord and change the appearance of the relic earned at the end of the Guardian's remembrance questline. Beating one of the Everdark Sovereigns for the first time will reward you with 25 Sovereign Sigils, while subsequent runs will earn you just 5 of the coveted new currency. The most expensive items in the shop -- the skins that are worth 35,000 Murk -- cost 20 Sovereign Sigils, so the earn rate of this currency is fairly generous so long as you can consistently beat these bosses.

Games Inbox: What is the hardest video of modern times?
The Friday letters page ponders the strange world of video game pricing, as one reader thinks the Nintendo Switch 2 line-up has been a disappointment. To join in with the discussions yourself email gamecentral@ Natural rhythm As a big fan of Elden Ring I have been trying to play Nightreign but I just cannot get anywhere. Maybe I'm being unlucky with the matchmaking or something but I don't get the feeling I'm the only one struggling. I didn't mind that with the original game, because the open world was so much fun to explore, but with this smaller world I'm not so into it. I wouldn't say it's so much the difficulty though, as the fact that I'm not as into it as some of the other harder games I've played. I wouldn't say I'm that great at games but I would say I'm above average, and have beaten all three Dark Souls games and Bloodborne. I could never get on with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice though and I think that's because the game is so dependent on parrying and having a sense of rhythm. I'm terrible at rhythm action games and I'd be interested to see if people that are good at them, but don't usually play Soulslikes would be good at it. So for me, I would say Sekiro is the hardest game of the last few gens (I'm sure there's lots of cheating 8-bit games that are harder). Curious to know what other people think, as I've heard some actually consider Sekiro to be one of the easier From games. So if that's not the hardest what is it? Zeiss Luxury item I'll be shocked if Microsoft's Xbox plans for the next gen don't change at least once more before they properly announce something. The leaks for them are always super accurate, I guess because they're American, and it makes it obvious how often they change their mind. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. As many have pointed out, all their current plans point towards very expensive hardware, whether it's home or portable, but this is surprising to me considering how much emphasis they put on Xbox Series S this gen. It doesn't seem to have worked, so I wonder if the thought now is to go all in on a high end device for the hardcore? That seems a dangerous path to me, without at least one model that's reasonably priced. Even Sony has the Digital Edition. Mentat99 Predictable response I don't really agree with Nintendo being able to brick your console, or even just force it offline, just because you used modding hardware but on the other hand I haven't got much sympathy for those that do, since they must know Nintendo's attitude to it. You can't be so into games that you want to be modding your Switch 2 a week after it came out, that you don't know how crazy Nintendo are about suing pirates and modders. It's like those people that make all these unofficial games, like extra Pokémon games and whatnot. How can you not guess what's going to happen? They say you can never predict Nintendo but that's not true for everything they do… Gifford Email your comments to: gamecentral@ Levels of bad I see you will be able to pre-order Fear Effect 1 from Limited Run Games on PlayStation 5 and Switch 1 physical versions soon. What is GameCentral's opinion of Fear Effect 1 and 2? I remember your review of Fear Effect Sedna being that it was an appalling game. I was at school and college in the '90s so I missed a lot of games that came out, so have been picking ones up now as remakes or remasters. I am interested in picking it up if GameCentral think it is any good? Andrew J. GC: Sedna is pretty terrible but the originals are just… not very good. It's a long while since we've played them, but we suspect they have not aged well. The one game With your review of Survival Kids describing another dud I think it's fair to say that the Nintendo Switch 2 line-up has actually been pretty bad. Beyond a few ports of old games Mario Kart World is literally the game for it, which is not what I expected from Nintendo. I know Zelda: Breath Of The Wild was pretty much it for the original Switch 1 but Nintendo were in a much worse position back then. Plus, they at least had Snipperclips as well, which is 10 times better than Welcome Tour. I guess it's the problem of games taking too long to make again but I still expected more. Let's hope Donkey Kong Bananza is good – at least that Nintendo Direct was promising. Korbie Always interesting I loved the look of Romeo Is A Dead Man, Suda51's latest uninhibited artistic endeavour. That opening cut scene/promotional sequence with the highly expressive, experimental art style instantly piqued my interest, and even at this early stage the combat and enemy design look distinctive and imaginative. I thoroughly acknowledge that Suda51's game design philosophy is inordinately peculiar and appeals to a niche demographic of gamers. And there's a certain level of crudeness and clunkiness in his game's characters and gameplay mechanics, but his games are almost always irrepressibly fun, charming, and interesting to me. Something like killer7, which for me is Suda's magnum opus – with its artistically, thematically, and mechanically audacious design – felt ahead of its time in many ways. I replayed the PC remaster a couple of years ago and was amazed by how well it had aged. It was like Fever Dream: The Game, just magnificently madcap from start to finish. Then there was one of last year's best indie games in my opinion, Sorry We're Closed, which felt like a spiritual successor to killer7 in a few key areas. Shadow Of The Damned and the No More Heroes games are also amongst the funniest, wackiest games I've ever played. I guess I just really appreciate that we still have genuine auteurs in the video game industry such as Suda51, Swery65, Hideo Kojima, and a few others (what ever happened to the habitually over-promising Peter Molyneux?). Galvanized Gamer GC: Molyneux is supposed to be working on a new god game called Masters Of Albion, but nothing has been heard of it in almost two years now. Cross-play KongI'm betting the SharePlay between Switch 1 and Switch 2 Donkey Kong Bananza will be for an unannounced basic retro Donkey Kong game included as a bonus. Mark Matthews GC: It's not that. The Nintendo Direct said it was a way to control Pauline as a co-op character, with an image of the game playing on the Switch 1. Presumably it's a cut down version of Bananza, but that's very odd as the game is not available separately on the Switch 1. Unfair pricing I think it's an interesting point about games being undervalued by sale price. We all want games to be cheap but when the really good ones are being practically given away and the trashiest stuff is charging £20 for a change of clothes you know something's not right. You can make an argument that it's just market forces, and people are paying what they think a thing is worth, but for some reason things have got turned around, so that people aren't willing to pay full price for many games (how is Mario Kart World not worth £75 – Mario Kart 8 lasted 13 years before it needed to be replaced!). Call Of Duty gets a new entry every year and it's always the best-selling game, despite costing £70 and having tons of microtransactions. I don't know how much some fans are spending on DLC but it must be in the hundreds every single year, and they have the cheek to complain about other games being too expensive! Why the most unambitious and generic games get a free pass but anything even a bit different is expected to justify itself a hundred times over and be half the price before it's even considered I don't know, but I don't see the situation changing any time soon. Anyway, please, if you've got a PC please try XCOM 2 because it's so dirt cheap at the moment it's almost criminal. Krool Inbox also-ransI know it's been said RE: no other big Switch games this year, but isn't Professor Layton supposed to be out this year? Anon GC: Professor Layton And The New World Of Steam is meant to be out this year but there's no date. When people talk about no more big games this year, they're generally talking about first party titles. The thing that surprises me about Hideo Kojima is how few games he's actually made. Half of them being Metal Gear does seem a bit of a shame, given they're all pretty similar. Elden Ring Nightreign players finally discover where the game's most mysterious key item leads, and it's humiliating
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Elden Ring Nightreign players have finally figured out what a mysterious item found in the game does, and it is a touch underwhelming. While FromSoftware games are known for being cryptic, one rare pickup in Elden Ring Nightreign had a ton of community members stumped. Players could find the Cord End key item during a typical Nightreign run, but outside of a brief description saying "Gain entry somewhere," there were no clues as to what the Cord End was for – or more specifically, where it was for. However, some Elden Ring Nightreign players on Twitter (spotted by Automaton) have finally figured it out. And perhaps unsurprisingly, it opens a random, uninteresting door in the world. But of course, opening the door isn't the exciting bit, it's what lies beyond that matters, right? Naturally with such a rare item that has such an obtuse usage, there has to be something amazing behind this hidden alas, instead of a legendary weapon, billions of runes to level yourself up like mad, or a new character, it's a twig. Namely the Sacrificial Twig Talisman, which prevents you from losing any runes upon dying. Now, granted, this is a useful tool, but after all of that mystery, I can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed. Although, hopefully this is one of Elden Ring Nightreign's randomly generated things, and that you can eventually get something actually cool from it… but no one seems to have found that yet. Elden Ring Nightreign's top modder claims the game could theoretically support "up to 127 players" somewhere down the line.

How to get and use Bewitching Branch in Elden Ring Nightreign?
(Image via Bandai Namco Entertainment) In Elden Ring: Nightreign, the Bewitching Branch is a clever tactical tool. The rare consumable can turn the enemies into temporary allies, turning the chaotic battles in one's favor. To know where to find it and how this work is important to survive the relentless hordes of Limveld and reach Nightlord. Here is all you need to know about finding and using it in the right way. How to find Bewitching Branch in Elden Ring Nightreign ? Forget all the predictable loot spots. In Elden Ring Nightreign, the Bewitching Branch spawns randomly. It makes it elusive. So, the best bet for the players lies in Supply Crates that are scattered all across Limveld. Smash all the crates that you can find near POIs (Point of Interests), like castles, forts, ruins, and even castles, especially while grabbing the Sacred Tears. While finding the item is still not guaranteed, the crates do have high drop chances early on. Persistence can pay off here. Bewitching Branch Chaos! Mind-Control Mayhem in Nightreign | #EldenRing #Nightreign #PS5 There is one more reliable and long-term strategy to find the Elden Ring consumables. Keep the focus on getting some Relics after you complete the Expeditions. The Relics offer 2 Bewitching Branches at every run's start. The powerful effect can bypass the randomness of the initial loot, ensuring you have the tool in the arsenal (always) right from the time you arrive. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mai puține griji la pensionare Pensia Facultativă NN Vezi oferta Undo Note: Some Relics can guarantee 2 branches at the start of every run. Put Bewitching Branch to work To use the Branch needs proximity and some guts. As a player, you must get dangerously close to the target. Then, thrust the Branch to pierce the enemy. If you are successful. They will be your temporary ally. Be aware you cannot target them if they are charmed. Though you can harm them (use friendly fire), as and when needed—accidental hits. They will aggressively attack the nearby foes, making them just perfect to thin the packs in the crowded encampments. However, the power comes with limits. Bewitching Branch primarily impacts the standard Misbegotten and soldier-types, not the towering bosses/elite enemies. Do not waste it on the giants, as they are immune. Its effectiveness makes it worth grabbing whenever players spot it. Just do not prioritize it over some essential upgrades. Remember, it is just a tool amidst many to conquer Elden Ring Nightreign gameplay. Is Bewitching Branch worth a use? Yes, it's worth it if you find it naturally. They are best for chaotic fights. Just do not replace the core consumables. As you can only carry 2 per slot and up to 10 with the Small Pouch. Use it strategically within tighter spots or against the groups. Do not hoard them. For the players who love some mind games, Bewitching Branch is a situational and fun tool. It rewards smarter positioning and timing. Just keep an eye out, and you can easily turn the tide when you are outnumbered.

How to land critical hits in Elden Ring Nightreign
Best tips for getting critical hits in Elden Ring (Image via FromSoftware) Critical hits in Elden Ring Nightreign are powerful attacks that deal massive damage, often turning the tide in tough battles. Unlike random luck-based mechanics, these strikes require skill, timing, and strategy. Whether you're facing a towering boss or a group of enemies, mastering critical hits can make your journey through the Lands Between significantly easier. What are critical hits in Elden Ring Nightreign ? A critical hit is a special attack triggered under specific conditions, dealing significantly higher damage than a standard strike. These are not random but instead rely on player actions like breaking an enemy's stance, parrying, or backstabbing. Key features of critical hits: - Deal 2x or more damage compared to normal attacks. - Often accompanied by a cinematic animation. - Can be performed on both regular enemies and bosses. How to perform critical hits in Elden Ring Nightreign There are three primary ways to land critical hits in Nightreign: 1. Breaking enemy stance (poise break) Every enemy has an invisible poise meter. Depleting this meter staggers them, leaving them open for a critical hit. How it works: - Use heavy or charged attacks to drain poise faster. - Once staggered, enemies often kneel or expose a weak spot (for bosses). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 月 **,***원대 '실비보험' 최적가 비교가입! Parrying for critical hits Parrying is a high-risk, high-reward technique that instantly staggers an enemy when timed correctly. Steps to parry successfully in Elden Ring Nightreign: - Equip a shield or weapon with a parry skill (e.g., Buckler, Parrying Dagger). - Press the parry button just as the enemy's attack is about to land. - If successful, the enemy will stagger—move in for the critical hit. Recommended parry tools in Elden Ring Nightreign: - Buckler (fastest parry frames) - Golden Parry (increased range) - Carian Retaliation (works against spells) 3. Backstabbing unaware enemies Backstabs are a stealth-based critical hit method, ideal for sneaky builds. How to perform a backstab Elden Ring Nightreign: - Crouch or move silently behind an enemy. - Position yourself close enough without alerting them. - Press the light attack button to trigger the animation. Best scenarios for backstabs in Elden Ring Nightreign: - Against humanoid enemies. - When enemies are distracted or unaware. Tips to maximize odds of critical hits in Elden Ring Nightreign To make the most of critical hits, consider these strategies: - Use the Miséricorde dagger – It has the highest critical multiplier in the game. - Exploit boss weak points – Many bosses reveal a glowing spot when staggered. Attack it quickly before they recover. - Equip critical-boosting gear – Some relics, like Night of the Baron, refill your Art gauge after a critical hit. - Practice parry timing – Different enemies have varying attack speeds, so experiment with shields and daggers.
