Two Powerball players just miss $129M jackpot, but still win big in Georgia

Two Georgia Powerball players tried their luck — and both walked away with big prizes. The lucky players each won $50,000 after matching four white ball numbers and the Powerball number in the June 23 drawing, just missing the estimated $129 million jackpot, the Georgia Lottery said. One ticket was sold at a Niknak Corner Store in Union City, and the other at a Racetrac station in Cumming, a lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News. Officials didn't say if either winner has come forward as of June 24. The winning numbers drawn Monday were 5-25-42-44-65 and red Powerball 20, according to the lottery game's website. The Power Play multiplier option was 3x. There were no $2 million or $1 million winners, and no one hit the jackpot, results show. The next Powerball drawing is June 25 with an estimated $140 million jackpot. Winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes and are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket. What to know about Powerball To score the jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball. The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338. Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state. Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online. Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
