Ghaziabad (UP), Jul 25 (PTI) In a daring daylight robbery at a jewellery store in Ghaziabad, two men dressed as dressed as online delivery executives made off with silver and gold worth more than Rs 20 lakh after threatening a lone staffer at gunpoint, police said on Friday. In the CCTV fooatge of the store that has surfaced on social media the unidentified suspects are seen pushing a man inside the jewellery store as they enter and then take off in a motorcycle after looting the store. The heist took place at Mansi Jewellers on the Link Road area on Thursday. The two robbers escaped with more than 20 kilograms of silver and 125 grams of gold from the store, police said. While no arrests have been made in the case so far, Ghaziabad police has formed multiple teams to identify and nab the suspects using the CCTV footage and technical surveillance. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans Hindon) Nimish Patil said, 'The unidentified miscreants looted jewellery worth more than Rs 20 lakh from the store. They were wearing the uniforms of Blinkit and Swiggy to avoid suspicion." 'We have formed six teams to investigate the case and arrests will be made soon," the officer said. One robber is seen wearing a yellow Blinkit T-shirt, a helmet, and a face mask, while his accomplice is clad in an orange Swiggy uniform with a helmet. Once inside, they confront the staffer, physically assault him and then force him to cooperate at gunpoint as they put the jewellery inside a bag. Two armed men dressed as online delivery agents looted a jewellery store in Ghaziabad's Brij Vihar area Thursday afternoon, fleeing with over 20 kilograms of silver and 125 grams of gold, worth more than Rs 20 lakh, in just six minutes. While no arrests have been made so far in connection with the robbery at Mansi Jewellers, located on Thana Link Road, the Ghaziabad police said multiple teams are working to identify the suspects using footage and technical surveillance. 'Two unidentified miscreants looted jewellery worth over Rs. 20 lakh from the store. They were wearing the uniforms of Blinkit and Swiggy to avoid suspicion. We have formed six teams to investigate the case, and arrests will be made soon,' said Nimish Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans Hindon). CCTV footage shows the two robbers pushing a man inside the jewellery store as they enter. While one man is seen wearing a yellow Blinkit T-shirt, a blue helmet and a face mask, the other is clad in an orange Swiggy uniform with a black helmet. Inside, they confront a lone staffer, slap him, and force him to cooperate at gunpoint. The video shows the man in the Swiggy outfit jumping behind the counter and emptying jewellery cabinets while his associate packs the ornaments into a bag. When the young store employee tries to escape, the robbers abuse and threaten to shoot him. The moment the two men flee on a motorcycle, the employee runs outside and shouts for help, attempting to alert bystanders and gather a crowd. Store owner Krishna Verma, who was not present at the time of the robbery, told the police that his staff informed him about the heist shortly after it occurred. 'They entered suddenly, pointed a gun, and threatened the boy working inside. Everything happened so quickly,' he said. The police said they have registered a First Information Report and are scanning CCTV footage from the area.

Two men dressed as delivery boys robbed a jewellery shop in Ghaziabad's Link Road area on July 24, around 3:30 PM. They stole nearly 20 kg of silver and 125 grams of gold ornaments. Two men dressed as Swiggy and Blinkit delivery agents entered Mansi Jewellers in Ghaziabad's Brij Vihar around 3:30 PM and looted gold and silver worth over ₹ 20 lakh in six minutes. They carried a gun, assaulted the staff and forced them to stay silent. The crime happened in broad daylight and was caught on CCTV. Police said the men entered the shop pretending to deliver a parcel. Then, they threatened the staff and took the valuables. Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patil confirmed that the police had reached the spot quickly after getting the information. "In PS Link Road, at around 4 PM, information was received that, around 3.30 PM, two unknown men entered his jewellery shop, threatened the worker and looted around 20 kg of silver ornaments and 125 g of gold ornaments,' ANI quoted DCP Patil as saying. 'Police immediately reached the site and inspected it. 6 teams have been formed to solve the case," he added. Police are checking CCTV footage and following leads to catch them. Social media reacted with sarcasm. 'This isn't a robbery. Someone had ordered jewellery, and they are rushing to pack and deliver it within 10 minutes! Understand the pressure they are in,' quipped one of them. 'Collab no one saw coming: Blinkit × Swiggy Instamart,' wrote another. Another wrote, 'Ghaziabad's got a new 'doorstep robbery' service.' 'Crime Patrol series will run out of material if it weren't for apna UP,' reacted another. 'They are in a hurry to deliver jewellery in 10 minutes, you misunderstood them,' came another reply. In January, Pune police caught Ganesh Kathewade. Disguised as a delivery boy, he committed 14 burglaries in empty flats, stealing jewellery worth ₹ 80 lakh. In April, a man in Delhi's Kalkaji posed as a delivery agent, entered an elderly couple's home, tied them up and looted cash and gold. Police arrested him using CCTV footage. In June, four men robbed a Vasant Kunj farmhouse, with one using a delivery trick to enter. In July, a food delivery boy in Mumbai was arrested for stealing gadgets like MacBooks and iPhones. He entered homes through open doors while on delivery duty. Police said he had done this six times before.

Ghaziabad: CCTV footage from police stations and ACP courts will now be monitored at command and control rooms launched on Wednesday at the offices of zonal deputy commissioners of police in the three zones of the Ghaziabad commissionerate: City, Trans-Hindon, and Rural. Under this plan, 86 CCTV cameras have been installed across the three zones of the Ghaziabad commissionerate, out of which 68 are at police stations and 18 at ACP courts. "Through 24/7 surveillance, we will monitor the conduct of police officers and their behaviour towards any visitor or complainant. If any suspicious activity is detected, the monitoring officers will immediately inform the DCP of the zone. Additionally, we will ensure that there are no unnecessary detentions, and all complaints are addressed appropriately," DCP Patil said. In Jan 2023, Ghaziabad Police took disciplinary action against two head constables for accepting bribes. The incident came to light when footage of the incident surfaced on social media platforms, prompting an official investigation. In April 2024, four police officers, including a former SHO of Muradnagar, were arrested for allegedly demanding bribes to dismiss a case. To facilitate and ensure transparency in police services provided under the Citizen Charter, a feedback cell was established to gather applicants' feedback on police conduct and transparency during passport verification, character verification, tenant verification, and the filing of FIRs.

Ghaziabad: Four persons were arrested for allegedly robbing a stamp vendor of Rs 15 lakh and important documents. A total of Rs 10.1 lakh stolen from the vendor was recovered. According to Nimish Patil, deputy commissioner of police, Trans Hindon Zone, on June 10, Vishal Gupta, a stamp vendor, told Tila Mod police that four miscreants who were in a Baleno car without licence plates robbed him of the money, some documents, a laptop, and other items by threatening him with weapons. Based on his statements, a case was filed under section 309(4) (robbery) of the BNS. After receiving a tip-off on Saturday night, officials from the SWAT Team-Trans Hindon Zone and Tila Mod police arrested Deepak (24) of Loni. Burnt pieces of a laptop, Rs. 2.6 lakh, the Baleno car, a water jug, and a lunch box were recovered from his possession. C harges under BNS section 317(2) (stolen property) were added to the case. Later, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, police arrested Ankit (23) and Kartik (23) of Jagat district; in an encounter, Rs 7.5 lakh in cash, pistols, and cartridges were recovered from their possession. "The suspects had a fourth accomplice, Rajesh of Dadri. All four suspects have been taken into custody. No estimation so far shows Rajesh has a criminal history, but the other three are first-time offenders," said DCP Patil.
