Ninja Woodfire review: I love this versatile outdoor cooking gadget
LIVING in the city but craving that smoky BBQ flavour? The struggle is real when balancing outdoor cooking dreams with limited space. Enter the Ninja Woodfire – the compact cooking powerhouse that has become my absolute summer essential since its launch, and we've had the chance to update our Ninja Woodfire review. Ninja Woodfire Electric BBQ Grill and Smoker, £299.99 BUY HERE This clever little gadget packs seven cooking functions into one portable unit, allowing you to grill, smoke, air fry, and more without needing a massive traditional barbecue. What makes it brilliant is how it delivers proper smoky flavour from a unit barely bigger than a carry-on suitcase. Perfect for balconies, small gardens, or even taking to a mate's place for the ultimate cookout. The results? Juicy, flavour-packed food that genuinely rivals traditional BBQ methods. Want to know if it's worth the investment for your summer cookouts? Read my review below to see why this space-saving marvel continues to impress. Ninja Woofire: Key stats Cooking functions 7-in-1 (grill, smoke, air fry, roast, bake, reheat, dehydrate) Power source Electric (120V) with wood pellet smoke flavouring Cooking area 141 square inches – enough for 2-4 servings Maximum temperature 371°C Wattage 1760 watts Smoke generation 45 minutes from 1/2 cup of wood pellets Preheating time 20+ minutes to reach max temperature Dimensions H34 x W46 x D46 cm Weight 12 kg Pros Compact Versatile Easy to set up Easy to clean Intuitive Smoker function takes BBQ food to the next level Cons Rating: 9/10 Ninja Woodfire: The Nitty Gritty The Ninja Woodfire essentially stands alone on the market, but the best way to describe it is as a multicooker geared towards summer. You get many of the same features as air fryer/grill hybrids like the Salter AeroGrill Pro or the Ninja Foodi Health Grill, but with one summery addition: a smoker function, which allows you to impart your food with wonderful, woodsy flavours. There are a total of seven functions, including Grill, Roast, Air Fry, and Bake. The BBQ grill and smoking function indicate that it's an outdoor gadget, and Ninja states explicitly that it's for outdoor use only. Delivery and first impressions The Woodfire is a compact gadget, measuring 34cm x 46cm x 46cm. That means it's great for those with small gardens, or those who only want to make enough food for a couple of people. It's actually small enough that you could feasibly take it away camping, as long as you had a power source. However, its portability does mean it's not suited to cooking for a crowd. It's also a really nice gadget to look at, with a sleek black, silver and gunmetal grey design, and a smart digital display. Setup is an absolute breeze; the only sort of assembly you need to undertake is attaching the side handles, which is easy thanks to the inclusion of an Allen key. All you need to do then is plug it into a socket, and you're ready to go. The only complaint our reviewer had about the design was that the side handles and feet are made of cheap hard plastic rather than something smarter and rubberised; it doesn't match up with the rest of the build quality, which is as sturdy as you'd expect from a Ninja gadget. A nice touch is the inclusion of a recipe booklet, which provides inspiration for cooking with a range of the device's functions; a recipe we're particularly looking forward to trying is the smoked tear-and-share garlic bread. Gino D'Acampo has even teamed up with Ninja to produce a trio of recipes for the Woodfire. It's worth noting that the Woodfire doesn't come with a cover, but it is water resistant to rating IPX4, meaning light splashes won't affect it. If you'd rather be safe and get a cover, there is one available on Amazon for £16.99. Ninja also does a bundle comprising a Woodfire, a cover and a stand for £499.97, although at the time of writing, it's out of stock. Does it deliver? The Ninja Woodfire comes with seven cooking functions: Smoke BBQ Grill Air Fry Roast Bake Dehydrate Reheat To achieve these functions, the device comes with a BBQ grill like you'd get on a standard BBQ, which can reach temperatures of 260 degrees. You can also remove the grill and replace it with an air fryer basket. The headline features here are obviously the smoking and BBQ grill abilities, which are what separates the Woodfire from the huge selection of other multicookers on the market. Included with the Woodfire is a Wood Pellet Starter Pack, which allows you to get to grips with the smoke function. There are two types of pellets included: Robust, which imparts a stronger BBQ flavour more suited to meats, and the All-Purpose Blend, which is suited to meat, fish and vegetables. Ninja includes enough of each pellet for six smoking sessions. Both pellets imbue your food with a wonderful, discernable smoky flavour that is undoubtedly a cut above the food you usually eat in people's back gardens — we made some smoked ribs for a family party and were showered with compliments. 2 Ninja Woodfire Electric BBQ Grill and Smoker, £299.99 BUY HERE At 28cm x 37 cm, the cooking area isn't the biggest in the world, but we found that it's more than enough to smoke a 1.5kg joint of meat (enough for six or so people) or grill a full meal for two. And we were happy to give up some of the cooking area in exchange for the Woodfire's portability. The air fryer functions also work perfectly and efficiently (sweet potato fries took us 12 minutes, as a yardstick), and we loved the fact that it beeps to remind you when to turn your food. A factor that often puts people off barbecuing is the cleanup, which can be greasy, messy and a bit off-putting. However, the Woodfire is extremely easy to clean; thanks to the non-stick properties of both the grill and the air fryer basket, all you really need to do is give them a wipe. However, these components aren't dishwasher-friendly. Where to buy the Ninja Woodfire It's a testament to the Ninja Woodfire's immediate popularity that several retailers have already sold out of their stock of the gadget. However, there are still plenty of places you can buy it, and you'll usually find it at one of these retailers: Ninja Lakeland Very Argos Currys Studio Robert Dyas Ninja Woodfire alternatives It's also worth noting that, to the best of our knowledge, there are currently no other devices that can do that; the closest alternative is probably the Landmann Fryton BBQ, which features an integrated air fryer but lacks smoking capabilities. However, if you aren't too bothered about the Woodfire's BBQ and smoking capacities, then there's a whole host of indoor multicookers that cost a lot less. We're fans of the Salter AeroGrill Pro, which can grill and air fry and is over £200 cheaper than the Woodfire.

Best Ninja outdoor pizza oven is 23 per cent off on Amazon Australia and its flying off the shelves
There's something deeply satisfying about cooking outside in the middle of winter. Maybe it's the crisp air, maybe it's the smell of wood smoke, or maybe it's just that a cheesy, golden pizza tastes even better when you've made it yourself, under the stars, with half a glass of red in hand. That's where the Ninja Woodfire 8-in-1 Outdoor Oven comes in, now going for $542 on Amazon Australia, down from $699.99, that's a decent 23 per cent off, and just in time for peak cosy cooking season. This isn't your average outdoor oven either. The Ninja Woodfire is designed to turn any backyard, patio or balcony into a full-on outdoor kitchen, with eight different cooking functions packed into one seriously sleek appliance. Whether you're a pizza purist, a weekend BBQ warrior or just someone who wants to smoke their own ribs without having to babysit a charcoal pit, this clever little machine delivers. And yes, it plugs into electricity, but the magic happens when you add real burning wood pellets for that unmistakable wood-fired flavour. Artisan pizzas without the drama The pizza mode is where the Ninja really shines. It can crank up to 370°C, which gives your crust that perfect blistered, brick-oven style finish. Even better, it takes just 3 minutes to cook a pizza, and you don't have to turn it halfway through or babysit the dough. Choose from five different pizza styles (including Thin Crust, New York and Deep Pan), and let the oven do the hard work while you pick your toppings. It fits pizzas up to 30cm, so there' s plenty of space for your next homemade Margherita or hot honey pepperoni creation. BBQ, smoke and roast like a pro Don't be fooled by the name; this thing is much more than a pizza oven. With just a press of a button, it transforms into a foolproof BBQ smoker, letting you cook low and slow at the touch of a button. Think smoky pulled pork, tender brisket, or a roast chook that actually tastes like it's been cooked outdoors. It's also big enough to feed the whole fam, fitting a 5.4kg turkey, 4kg pork shoulder, or even a full casserole dish. Whether you're doing a slow Sunday roast or whipping up a weeknight sheet pan dinner, the Ninja's got space and versatility on its side. Built for Aussie weather You don't need to worry about hauling it in and out of storage. The Ninja Woodfire is weather-resistant, built to withstand the elements all year round. So when the urge strikes to smoke some lamb or fire up a quick pizza, it's ready to go, rain, hail or shine. If you've been looking to level up your outdoor cooking game or just want a fun, delicious way to get outside during winter, this deal is worth jumping on. The 23 per cent discount won't last forever, and judging by how fast these have been flying off the shelves overseas, we wouldn't be surprised if it sells out.

Ninja Woodfire BBQ Grill - Five features I love that make it my summer essential
Ninja Woodfire BBQ Grill - Five features I love that make it my summer essential The Ninja Woodfire BBQ Grill and Smoker is a versatile outdoor cooker that can grill, smoke, air fry, roast, bake, dehydrate and reheat - and it's currently on sale Writer Chris Hall tried out Ninja's Woodfire Electric BBQ Grill & Smoker (Image: Ninja's ) Brits are flocking to purchase the Ninja Woodfire as the summer sun emerges and everyone is keen to enjoy their best garden life. The Ninja model is said to be brimming with easy-to-use BBQ features, so writer Chris Hall tested it out. The brand is well-known for its innovative air fryers, combi cookers and ice cream makers. The Woodfire family includes a couple of models – there's the Woodfire Outdoor Oven (essentially a pizza oven) and the barbecue Grill and Smoker. Now is a great time to buy, as there's a £70 discount from Ninja direct as well as a £70 discount on Amazon, shoppers can get this outdoor cooker for £229. When it comes to alternatives, there isn't currently another brand offering the same type of wood-smoked cooking on the go, however, the Tower Portable Barrel Grill could be an option for simple BBQs. READ MORE: Samsung fans snapping up £9 SmartTag 2 thanks to TopCashback deal READ MORE: 'I made one smart and easy switch to my dogs meals and it saved me over £200 a year' Here are the top five features of the Ninja Woodfire barbecue Grill and Smoker that truly make it stand out and will ensure you get delicious food time after time, as Chris Hall highlights for the Mirror. 1. The woodsmoke system Using electric rather than gas or charcoal, the first thing to understand is where the Woodfire name originates from. That's due to a system that ignites wood pellets that you place in a hopper on the side of the lid. When you select the Woodfire mode, it ignites these wood pellets, drawing the smoke into the lid with the internal fan. The flavoured smoke is then circulated, infusing your food with that smoky flavour. Chris says the Ninja also gives off a great smokey aromoa (Image: Ninja ) Using wood smoke makes this a bit more thrilling than a standard electric barbecue and it's incredibly simple to use. Other electric BBQs can utilise wood chips, but they need to be placed inside the grill, which means you lose cooking space – this isn't an issue with the Ninja Woodfire. The Woodfires come with sample wood chips for you to try, and then you can purchase more once you've decided which ones you prefer. 2. The interchangeable grills Instead of a grate like a traditional BBQ, the Ninja Woodfire features a grill plate. This is a griddle, so it has raised bars for those sear marks on your food, with a drain hole at the back. This allows excess fat to drain away, ensuring your food isn't swimming in grease. The entire tray is removable, making it easy to clean, but it's not dishwasher safe, unlike some competitors like the Weber Lumin, due to the non-stick coating. I have managed to clean the grill easily, avoiding harsh scourers, and the non-stick coating still works, however, some shoppers have reported the non-stick coating coming off. If there's a drawback to the Ninja Woodfire, it would be the size of the grill. It manages to cater to a family of four, but if you're hosting a barbecue in your garden, then you're limited to cooking around 16 sausages at once, so for larger gatherings, you might need to consider a bigger option. 3. Cooking controls The controls on the Ninja Woodfire are designed for precision and ease of use, and in line with Ninja's other products, setting it to cook in various styles is straightforward. You can dial in the exact temperature you desire, decide whether to add smoke flavour or not, and set the cooking duration all through the user-friendly controls. Simply hit "start" and the grill begins its preheat, activates the smoke system, and prepares itself. The Ninja BBQ uses wood pellets to create a smokey taste (Image: Amazon ) The Woodfire Pro XL and the Woodfire Pro Connect XL models come with a temperature probe for precise cooking, which is particularly useful for ensuring meats aren't overcooked. However, this isn't offered on the standard model. 4. Family-sized My gas barbecue was enormous. Lighting it up to cook just a few sausages always seemed a bit excessive, so the compact size of the Ninja Woodfire is a benefit. The Woodfire is available in a few sizes, including an XL model that's larger if you need to cater for more people or want to cook larger cuts of meat or perhaps whole fish. It's 30% larger than the regular Ninja Woodfire, but it also costs more. I favour the smaller model because it's just the right size. I can barbecue chicken legs and thighs along with corn on the cob for four people without any issues, and it's large enough for a smaller whole chicken too, but it's certainly worth considering how many people you regularly cook for. Unlike a barbecue that utilises an open flame, there's no need to fret about leaving it unattended, as there's no exposed flame and no risk of a flare-up. 5. It's portable It's compact enough to fit into your car or camper van for a camping trip or if you fancy taking it to a mate's place to broaden their outdoor cooking options on barbecue night, provided you can plug it in. Article continues below It comes with large carry handles on the side, making it easy to move around and store, while it also boasts an IPX4 waterproof rating. It's not intended to be left outside indefinitely, but if you forget it outside one night and it gets a bit damp, it's not a problem. The Ninja Woodfire is available for purchase with a stand and a cover. I haven't tested these and have used it on a garden table when cooking (it's clean when cooking, so the table doesn't get dirty) but, a stand would be beneficial for those who want to use it like a standard barbecue.

5 Ninja Woodfire features that I can't live without
The Ninja Woodfire is a versatile electric BBQ and grill for your garden – and it's loaded with features. Brits are rushing to buy the Ninja Woodfire as the summer sun has appeared and everyone wants to live their best garden life. I've been using the Ninja Woodfire BBQ for the last few months, and it's loaded with useful features. The Ninja brand will be familiar because of its innovative air fryers, combi cookers and ice cream makers. The Woodfire family has a couple of models – there's the Woodfire Outdoor Oven (which is basically a pizza oven) and there's the BBQ Grill & Smoker, which is what we have here. Now is a good time to buy too, because there's a £70 discount from Ninja direct as well as a £70 discount on Amazon so you can get this pioneering outdoor cooker for £229 at the moment. When it comes to alternatives, there isn't currently another brand which offers the same type of woodsmoked cooking on the go, however, this Tower Portable Barrel Grill could be an option for simple BBQs. These are the top five features of the Ninja Woodfire BBQ Grill & Smoker that really help it stand out and will help you get tasty food time and time again. 1. The woodsmoke system Using electric rather than gas or charcoal, the first thing to know about is where the Woodfire name comes from. That's thanks to a system that ignites wood pellets that you put in a hopper on the side of the lid. When you select the Woodfire mode, it will ignite these wood pellets, drawing the smoke into the lid with the internal fan. The flavoured smoke is then circulated, bringing that smoky flavour to your food. It's not just the food that benefits – because the smell when cooking is amazing too. Using wood smoke makes this a little more exciting than a normal electric BBQ and it's so easy. Other electric BBQs can use wood chips, but you have to put them inside the grill, meaning you lose cooking space – not so with the Ninja Woodfire. The Woodfires with sample wood chips to try, but then you can buy more once you've decided which you prefer. 2. The interchangeable grills Rather than a grate like a traditional BBQ, the Ninja Woodfire has a grill plate. This is a griddle, so has raised bars for those sear marks on your food, with a drain hole at the back. This means that excess fat can drain away, so your food isn't swimming in grease. The entire tray is removable, so it's easy to wash, but it's not dishwasher safe, unlike some rivals like the Weber Lumin, because of the non-stick coating. I have been able to wash the grill easily, avoiding harsh scourers, and the non-stick coating still works – but some shoppers have found the non-stick coating coming off. You can swap the griddle for a flat plate, meaning you can cook smash burgers, pancakes or eggs with ease. That's one of the things I really like about the Ninja Woodfire – it's really versatile. It also comes with a crisper tray, so you can use it to cook chips or other loose vegetables. If there's a downside to the Ninja Woodfire, it's the size of the grill. It just about feeds a family of four using it, but if you're planning a BBQ in your garden, then you can only cook about 16 sausages at a time, so for a large gathering, you might need something bigger. 3. Controls and cooking modes The controls of the Ninja Woodfire offer precision and control, and just like Ninja's other appliances, it's easy to set it to cook in a multitude of ways. The Ninja Woodfire offers grilling, smoking, air frying, roasting, baking, dehydrating and reheating. You can select the exact temperature you want to cook it, whether you want smoke or not and the duration of the cook and set all these options on the controls. Then you press 'start' and it's off, preheating the grill, firing up the smoke system and getting ready. It takes the guesswork out of BBQ cooking. There's an instruction manual and recipe book that comes with the Ninja, so you can find out exactly how long everything should take. If you want even more control, the Woodfire Pro XL and the Woodfire Pro Connect XL models have a temperature probe so you can cook more precisely, which is great for making sure that you don't overcook meats. If you don't have a Pro model, I've also used the Meater Plus to check the internal temperature when BBQing – and having a separate probe means you can use it when oven cooking indoors too, another downside to the standard model. 4. It's great for family meals My gas BBQ was huge. Firing it up to cook a couple of sausages was always a little excessive, so the size of the Ninja Woodfire is an advantage. Because it's smaller, it preheats quickly, and if you're only cooking for a family of four, it has all the size that you need. The Woodfire comes in a couple of sizes, so there's an XL model that's larger if you want to feed more people or want to cook larger joints of meat or perhaps whole fish. It's 30% larger than regular Ninja Woodfire, but costs more too. I prefer the smaller model because it's just the right size. I can BBQ chicken legs and thighs with corn on the cob for four people with no problem and it's large enough for a smaller whole chicken too, but it's definitely worth considering how many people you regularly cook for. Any unlike a BBQ that uses open flame, I don't worry about leaving it unattended as there's no naked flame and no risk of a flare up. 5. It's so portable Portability takes the Ninja Woodfire into a new dimension. It's small enough to pack into your car or camper van for a camping trip or if you want to take it to a friend to expand their outdoor cooking options on BBQ night - as long as you can plug it in. There are big carry handles on the side, so you can move it around easily, so storage is easy, while it also has an IPX4 waterproof rating. It's not designed to live outside long term, but if you leave it out one night and it gets a bit damp, it doesn't matter. You can buy the Ninja Woodfire with a stand and a cover. I haven't tried these and have used it on a garden table when cooking (it's clean when cooking, so the table doesn't get dirty) but a stand would benefit those who want to use it like a normal BBQ.
